16/07/2026: It's a shame we can't give zero stars… I wanted to report our very bad experience this evening at the Léon de Bruxelles restaurant in Vénissieux. We arrived as a family at 9:40 PM. When we arrived, there was no one at the reception desk. A waitress, alone to manage the entire dining room, saw us and told us she was coming. She then went into the kitchen. We then saw the cook look towards the dining room through the kitchen window and shout at her, looking us straight in the eye: "We're closed!" The waitress explained that the kitchens closed at 10:00 PM. I replied that there was no problem since it was only 9:40 PM and the kitchen was therefore still open. She told me that by the time we were seated and our order was taken, it would be 10:00 PM. Yet, we already knew exactly what we wanted. We had consulted the menu before entering and simply wanted to order mussels and fries for a family dinner. Our order could have been taken immediately. I find this situation completely incomprehensible. Turning customers away twenty minutes before the official closing time of the kitchen, in the middle of summer, is already regrettable. But the way it was handled is even worse. The lack of welcome, the tone used, and the complete absence of any willingness to find a solution are not worthy of a brand like Léon de Bruxelles. It's truly a shame, as we had simply come to enjoy a pleasant family meal. After this experience, I will unfortunately not be returning to your establishment. P.S.: Don't judge a book by its cover. A word to the wise…

25/07/2026: The quality of the mussels and their preparation is nothing like it used to be, when it was excellent and I was never disappointed. I was really looking forward to going there... I didn't even finish my mussels. And I'm not likely to go back anytime soon, I'm too disappointed.

31/07/2026: A magnificent spot just a stone's throw from Villeneuve, nestled near the river. You'll find a haven of peace where you can see a pond and the shaded restaurant in the background. The concept of catching your own trout and bringing it to the chef to be cooked over a wood fire is wonderful and very enjoyable for both children and adults. The staff is very friendly and professional. This place is a family affair where you feel right at home. Remember to book in advance to avoid disappointment and be able to stay in this little paradise.

19/04/2026: This was our second time eating there. There was a good selection on the menu, the portions were generous, and above all, the food was delicious. The warm welcome and friendly service, with a touch of humor, made for a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Nothing more was needed. It was perfect, and thank you to the waiter in the pink t-shirt for his kindness. 😊 We'll be back and I highly recommend it!

08/06/2026: Between June 2025 and June 2026, the brunch price per person increased by €3. We're used to a constant rise in prices these days, but here it seems somewhat unjustified because the quality of service has declined: in June 2025, hot drinks were unlimited, but in June 2026, only one hot drink is included. I still recommend La Reine Jane for Sunday brunch, but the price of €42 per person seems exorbitant, and I won't be returning because I was disappointed by the drop in service quality compared to the price increase.

07/06/2026: Great atmosphere on the rooftop (top DJ) and a superb meal at the restaurant with very professional service. We can't wait to go back! Well done to the whole team!

13/07/2026: It's impossible to rate anything other than the aperitif, which was served an hour after we were seated. Sorry, but a two-hour wait was the limit of our patience, so we left without eating. It's possible a staff member was absent; in that case, customers should be informed. We would have understood and decided whether to stay or not. And if the team was full, the manager should consider filling the remaining positions quickly.

30/07/2026: We've been going there for 30 years, mainly for mussels and oysters, and occasionally for their famous pissaladières and tielles. A real treat, I highly recommend it.

27/07/2026: The friendliness was lacking. The dish was rather simple and the portion size... For the price, perhaps it's different for locals.

22/07/2026: Disappointing experience… I don't understand how this restaurant can have so many positive reviews 😅 First of all, the service was extremely slow, even though there were only eight of us in the restaurant. The waiter was friendly but seemed completely apathetic. The wait was interminable, especially since he spent several minutes on his phone while preparing our platter. What worried me most was the hygiene. We saw the waiter handle his phone and then wipe the sweat from his brow before continuing to prepare our platter without washing his hands or putting on gloves. For an establishment that serves such delicate products, this is truly concerning. When the platter finally arrived, the ice was already half melted… plus, the tables on the terrace are angled, so the oysters were sitting in water. 😅 It was neither pleasant nor practical, and it wasn't a pretty sight. I admit I was worried about getting sick, but the seafood seemed fresh nonetheless, and the shrimp were very good. And finally, the toilets were dirty, with no toilet paper or soap for washing hands, which only added to the lack of hygiene.

27/12/2025: Very large flat oysters from Henri's, ordered by Debon, very disappointed in the size. However, the flat oysters from Ets Geuzel are excellent and very, very large.

13/07/2026: They serve a carafe of hot water during the heatwave to force people to buy a bottle of water.

10/07/2026: A deplorable meal, simply worthy of a 10-year-old. No spices, very bland. The chicken was extremely dry. The juices were squeezed from the dish and diluted with water. In years of holiday restaurant visits, this is the first time I've written a review.

26/07/2026: Absolutely delicious. No regrets at all, it tastes just like the seaside and it goes down a treat, so good!

18/07/2026: Small, very rushed brasserie! Fish of the day on a Friday, and indeed, the explanation was that they were closed the two previous days! What's the connection? We ordered a bottle because they didn't have a carafe… The bottle was placed on the table without a cooler. The owner seemed to be in a real hurry; we had to choose very quickly! In short, I'm not a tourist, and I strongly advise against going there for a pleasant experience.

02/08/2026: Honestly, a fantastic place. We love it. Cozy atmosphere, vintage decor, rock vibe… it has real personality and you immediately feel at ease. Leslie is lovely, always spontaneous and full of great advice. You can tell she loves what she does and it shines through in the atmosphere. An authentic, charming place where you're guaranteed a great time. Don't miss it if you're ever in Villefranche!

21/07/2026: A disappointing experience despite the beautiful setting. The prices are a bit excessive and not entirely justified. We ordered a mixed appetizer platter for €18 which contained five slices of cured ham, only two types of cheese (including four pieces of store-bought Camembert), and a few pickles that looked like they were fighting for space. Then we ordered two burgers for €16 each. The burger consisted of a patty, a meager slice of lettuce, bacon, and so-called cheddar with a questionable texture. The burger didn't even come with sauce. This isn't meant to be unfair, but the prices are excessive compared to the quality of the ingredients and the composition of the dishes.
