21/03/2026: A wonderful evening at this lovely restaurant where we stumbled upon it quite by chance (our original choice of restaurant was fully booked). And luckily so! This little restaurant is definitely worth a visit; we thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and the staff were incredibly friendly (especially when they offered our daughter, who isn't a big cheese fan, a delicious plate of potatoes and salad, at no extra charge!). 22/02/2026: Always an excellent choice. Generous and flavorful cuisine. Fresh, high-quality ingredients, everything is homemade. The open kitchen allows you to watch the dishes being prepared. A welcoming dining room and a deli/grocery section. Good wine selection. A few tables outside.

14/02/2026: It's delicious; the chef does everything himself, from the cooking to the service. He's happy to chat if you're in the mood. You can see into the kitchen, and the setting is cozy and very pleasant. The prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food and service. A real treat!

05/03/2026: While in Clermont-Ferrand for work, I had the opportunity to have lunch at La Parenthèse. The owner gave me a very warm welcome, and the entire team was exceptionally friendly. The menu is concise, offering high-quality dishes, and the meal ended on a delightful sweet note with excellent desserts. It's an address to keep in mind for my next visit. I highly recommend it!

23/03/2026: A starter that was good but expensive (4 small gnocchi in a blue cheese sauce for €11!), a main course that was very expensive, which I was advised to cook medium-rare but which was brought to me practically blue, or rather bloody (a measly slice of calf's liver, about 140g, in vinegar, with no other sauce and some plain fries for €26)... Furthermore, there was a huge misunderstanding between the menus displayed outside and inside; the prices didn't match, and the confusion was so complete that you didn't know how much you would end up paying. A chalkboard was positioned against the inside window, at the bottom, which made it difficult to see, forcing you to read the menu displayed in its proper glass-fronted location. I don't advise against going if you're well-off and like to spend lavishly, because the owner clearly enjoys it, but make sure you know how much you'll pay for what you order from the start, because as I said, the confusion is such that you won't know. The DGCCRF (French Directorate General for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control) has received a report about the incorrect signage. Indeed, as you can see on the outdoor menu in the photo, it says: "LUNCH MENU... Menu with choice on 'THE BOARD' starter+main/main+dessert: €20 (this has disappeared from the board) and starter+main+dessert: €24 (€25 on the board)." So, once seated at the table, there would no longer be a menu with a choice of dishes on the board, but rather a set starter, main course, and dessert, even though it still says "with a choice" on the board. So I chose from the lunch menu, a starter and a main course which should have cost me €20 (this menu was not on the menu but was available outside). I ended up paying €37, à la carte actually. So, there's no set lunch menu to choose from on the chalkboard as indicated on the outdoor menu, which is blatant DECEPTION, and the €20 menu has disappeared, which is also blatant DECEPTION. (Different prices between the outdoor and indoor menus, different products between the indoor and outdoor menus, menus appearing outside no longer exist inside, products listed below the lunch menu price don't correspond to the products on the outdoor menu, undeniably incorrect information outside—the confusion is there, whether deliberately or foolishly.) It's too complicated to discuss things with a restaurant owner who won't give customers their proper seats, even though she was politely informed in front of the outdoor menu, where she refused to accompany me to verify the error (odd). I never recommend people or websites where there is obvious deception. For your information, since 1998 I have eaten lunch and dinner in restaurants due to my profession, and for €37 I sometimes get a semi-gastronomic, complete and much better meal.

20/03/2026: Excellent restaurant with beautifully presented dishes. A wide selection of items and a simple yet effective menu. A bit pricey, but considering the quality of the food, it's reasonable. Fast and professional service; the staff are friendly. Highly recommended.

Beyond the quality of the food, we were also touched by the warm welcome and dedication of the staff and owner, who truly deserve our support. The service was impeccable from start to finish. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and will gladly return.

14/03/2026: Everything was perfect! A warm welcome, excellent cuisine, impeccable service—everything was in place for a delightful meal. We weren't disturbed at all by the noise from the other tables, which were quite large. Despite the high volume of customers, the service was smooth, provided by smiling and efficient staff. My only advice: go!

We originally came to La Monnerie but stopped in Thiers just to eat at your place, despite the 40-minute drive from our home in Clermont-Ferrand. It was still as good as ever and piping hot! 👍 I highly recommend it, it's delicious, not disappointed at all, once again! 👌

02/03/2026: - A real find, a very, very good little neighborhood restaurant. 👍😋 Thiers still has some lovely little gems: some charming boutiques, beautiful knives, and excellent little places to have lunch without breaking the bank; Le Chaudron is one of them. - Very friendly welcome and service. ☺️ - Homemade: The truffade is amazing! The cabbage sausage is too. 👍😋 The French toast is delicious. - Very pretty and rather cozy setting. 🤩 Charming, like a medieval cellar or shop. - In short, simply a good and beautiful place. (Don't go in blind, because it's dangerous.) 😂🤣😂
