09/06/2026: This restaurant's food quality is steadily declining, but their prices never go down! The dishes are prepared hastily, some are tasteless, and the manager has an answer for everything. It's so easy to post on social media. The staff are clowning around at the manager's request, and the dishes look beautiful. In short, they only show us what they want us to see... Yes, indeed!
To be clear, I do not recommend it. Avoid at all costs.
02/06/2026: Disappointment Despite a Decent Welcome
We dined at Septième Art on a Sunday evening and the experience was generally disappointing.
The starter was decent and quite pleasant. However, my main course, Thai noodles with shrimp, was inedible due to its excessive sweetness. I must acknowledge, though, that the manager was responsive: he came to inquire about the problem and offered to replace the dish with duck breast and fries. The gesture was appreciated, even if the duck breast turned out to be rather ordinary, with somewhat tough meat.
The desserts confirmed our disappointment. My partner's Paris-Brest looked homemade, but unfortunately, it was quite a failure.
As for me, the crème brûlée, advertised as "homemade," left me perplexed. Its appearance was already surprising, with a very yellow color, but it was the response I received when I asked for it to be served lukewarm that particularly caught my attention. I was told that it wasn't possible because it would become liquid again.
This explanation surprised me. A traditional crème brûlée, made with eggs, can usually withstand being slightly warmed without becoming runny. This is often a distinguishing feature of homemade crème brûlée, unlike an industrially produced product made with stabilized ingredients. I obviously can't definitively confirm the origin of the product served, but this response, combined with the appearance of the dessert, seriously called into question the "everything homemade" claim.
More generally, we felt a lack of transparency. Before ordering, I had asked if everything was homemade and fresh, especially given the absence of the "homemade" logo on some dishes on the menu. The waiter assured me that everything was.
Yet, in my Thai wok dish, the peas seemed to be canned and the shrimp were frozen. The manager then explained to me that the use of frozen shellfish was permitted under the Maître Restaurateur (Master Restaurateur) designation, which is true.
I want to clarify that I don't question the freshness of the meat and fish, which certainly seem to be prepared fresh. However, the claim that the entire menu was consistently "fresh" and "everything homemade" didn't match what we actually found on our plates.
The problem, therefore, isn't so much the occasional use of frozen or processed products as the lack of consistency between the marketing message and the perceived reality. Even some desserts or items in the gourmet coffees we saw on neighboring tables cast doubt on the truly homemade nature of the entire offering.
Ultimately, between the numerous justifications, the inconsistencies in the messaging, and the unconvincing quality of the dishes, we left with the feeling that the "everything homemade" promise was largely exaggerated.
The bill, however, was rather high considering the experience offered. For the same price, we believe there are much better options in the area.

06/06/2026: What a shame! We had such fond memories of this restaurant, where we had lunch four years ago. Unfortunately, our experience this time around didn't live up to expectations. For example, the fries in our fish and chips were reheated and not crispy, even though they made up half the dish. Customers who arrived after us were served well before us, which gives you an idea of the efficiency of the kitchen logistics. The service was good, though. I hope this was just a one-off, because it's a shame to tarnish such a great memory, especially given the wide variety of restaurants in Amboise.

07/06/2026: I'm a regular at this restaurant, but increasingly disappointed with each visit, and I think this will be my last. The staff is still as pleasant as ever, but unfortunately, the quality and quantity of the food have declined, while the prices have increased significantly. On my last visit, Saturday, June 6, 2026, I ordered the set menu (the "coup de cœur" menu). I chose the meat option, and they told me there was no more meat available for the set menu. 🤔 It was Saturday, and it was 8 PM. No solution was offered other than ordering meat from the regular menu. I ended up with the hamburger from the set menu, which is the same one available on the children's menu. It wasn't bad, but no better than McDonald's. A huge disappointment.
This will be my last visit to this restaurant. I used to come at least twice a month for the past seven years. It's a real shame that nothing lasts in terms of quality and price.
07/06/2026: Catastrophic… it took two servers to take our order, only to still not get the dish we ordered. We didn't ask for a replacement, thinking it was a good opportunity to try something else, but in the end, we barely ate anything.
The side salad was served with a balsamic vinegar dressing without oil… it wasn't a vinaigrette, and therefore impossible to eat on its own, it was so acidic… It's a shame because we chose this chain thinking the quality would be consistent throughout France… We now know we can no longer rely on that selection criterion.

03/05/2026: Nice and friendly place. Unfortunately, the system wasn't explained to us, so we ended up paying an extra €10 per person for a cider (just a small glass). A little more courtesy from the manager would have been appreciated. She wasn't very accommodating; for a hen party table of 12 people costing €410, we were refused a digestif. A shame.

15/05/2026: It was our first meal in Paris and we were greeted by a wonderful server the pizza was amazing and we’re from Chicago so that’s high praise. We order frites and asked to add truffle and Parmesan which they happily did and we had many frites on our trip of 7 days and none compared! Also can’t stop thinking about the perfectly prepared green beans 🇫🇷😋

The welcome was warm, the cuisine homemade, simple, generous, and high-quality, served in a friendly atmosphere.
It's worth noting that the ingredients are fresh. Different menus are offered at reasonable prices, depending on the season.
We had a pleasant time and highly recommend this establishment.

09/06/2026: Nothing exceptional, good but nothing special. A bit cheaper than the competition. The waitress was very nice, but I found it regrettable that she refused to let me sit on a booth (even though I explained that I had back problems), because she "couldn't afford it at that time," as if she had a lot of reservations. In fact, there was practically no one in the restaurant that evening.
29/05/2026: Awful!!! Eating on the terrace—if you can even call it a terrace!!!—looks more like a garbage dump all around!! And to top it off, an employee was cleaning a freezer in a trailer with bleach, just 3 meters from our plates!! And to make matters worse, a cook came out of the kitchen in a pitiful state, his shirt and pants filthy!!! I'm really disappointed because we've been customers for over 6 years, and also at the bodega in the Mondeville 2 area, since they're owned by the same people. Personally, I'll never go back to either restaurant!
