01/07/2026: Reading the various reviews of this student cafeteria, I noticed that some seemed sarcastic. Please know that mine is sincere and written from the heart. I ate lunch here, and sometimes dinner, for seven years, and I was rarely disappointed. The food is good, the portions generous, and the menu is regularly updated. I want to highlight the initiative of adding a soup option as a starter, often made with leftovers from the previous day's meal. These soups are truly delicious and help reduce food waste. I would also like to emphasize the friendliness of the staff. Most of them have been there for a while, and it's a pleasure to thank them when they bring us our plates or wish them a good day after we've paid. And the price? Until recently, it was €3.30 for non-scholarship students, and now it's €1 for everyone—unbeatable for a meal of this quality! After seven long years of studying here, it's the end of an era for me. I will cherish the memory of this place where I grew up, where I relaxed after exams, grabbed a quick bite between study sessions, or simply shared a full and inexpensive meal with friends when times were tougher. I will remember the people who work here, whose names I don't know and who don't know mine, but who have always been kind and smiling. Thank you, student union, for these wonderful memories!

For five years now, the Mascaret student restaurant has welcomed my classmates and me every day, allowing us to enjoy a satisfying meal, savoring something other than the three pebbles left in our respective fridges. For the past five years, since we've been attending the Carreire campus, we've seen the CROUS (student services organization) evolve, innovate, try new things, sometimes fail, always get back up, but never, ever disappoint us. Redoubling their efforts to satisfy our hunger with a variety of dishes day after day, the CROUS Carreire team, made up of wonderful and creative people, is overflowing with imagination when it comes to preparing meals that are more delicious than the last. Indeed, what a joy it was to peruse that tempting menu around 11 a.m. at the Josy Reiffers University Library, when our stomachs suddenly rumbled, pulling us from the torpor into which item 234 had plunged us… There are little pleasures in life that must be savored (and speaking of flavor, did I mention the Lebanese maffé or moudjarabah? Pure gastronomy!) Furthermore, there's no waste here! Between the vegetarian dishes transformed into soups the next day and the carafes of water banished from the tables, the Mascaret University Restaurant distinguishes itself through its ecological values, which have become fundamental these days. One more reason to support this exceptional establishment! Moreover, I haven't yet mentioned the atmosphere; Indeed, a constant joie de vivre reigns at the Mascaret student restaurant, fueled by the friendliness and smiles of the staff every time we go through the checkout or the service. Between themed meals and upbeat playlists, the team knows how to keep students motivated even in the most challenging moments. In short, in addition to delighting our taste buds for years, the Crous at the Carreire Campus has watched us grow up and warmed our hearts when we needed it most. This team is certainly partly responsible for our success as students, and I would even say as young adults. We will long remember our lunches and dinners shared around our green trays (or was it yellow?), interspersed with quirky anecdotes and fits of laughter. I hope you all have the opportunity to benefit from such a collective catering service, and I warmly thank the entire team at the RU and the Crous of the Carreire campus for supporting us in this way on a daily basis!

22/09/2025: Looking for a place to eat on a Sunday evening, we weren't disappointed. Everything was delicious, from the pizzas to the sushi and the bo bun. A place to remember! 👍

19/10/2025: Eating fresh oysters here is a true experience. The chef is truly one of a kind, and when we arrived, he certainly hadn't had his first shot of liquor. The oysters were fantastic and bigger than we'd ever seen. A fun evening that culminated with Bill's gift of a heart-shaped lollipop.

12/10/2025: Want to get drunk with the owner? This place is for you! Half an hour to take an order, without a hello or anything. But luckily Cathy showed up. Without her, we would have left! Nevertheless, the products (oysters and shrimp) are very good. No credit cards, only cash is allowed! There, it's all very informal: sit wherever you want, help yourself to bread, put down your cutlery, and get up to get water. The owner is overwhelmed and unfriendly. We even had the chance to witness an argument between the waitress (who was very nice) and the owner.

21/07/2026: Friendly welcome, very good pizza with generous toppings and regular special offers. Highly recommended.

02/07/2026: I'm usually super happy, but this time my pizza is a little burnt underneath, and I don't like the burnt taste.

30/07/2026: It was very interesting to read that other guests had similar experiences. Unfortunately, we had one too. We were visiting with our young children when one of my daughter’s French fries accidentally fell onto the floor. Instead of understanding that this can happen with small children, a member of the staff came over and told us to leave the restaurant. We tried to explain that accidents like this are completely normal when dining with young children, but they insisted that we leave. To make matters worse, they still expected us to pay. I asked to speak to the manager, hoping the situation would be handled differently. However, he also claimed that it was unacceptable for small children to drop French fries on the floor. As parents, we found this reaction completely unreasonable and very disappointing. Families with young children should be aware that they may not receive a welcoming or understanding attitude here.

30/07/2026: On July 30th, we entered this nearly empty restaurant with our 6-year-old daughter and politely asked if she could use the restroom for a few moments. The woman at the counter explained that a purchase was required. We naturally accepted this rule immediately and ordered a bottle of water. Before our order was even taken, the man behind the counter asked us, in an aggressive and deeply disrespectful tone, to leave the restaurant. At the same time, the woman at the counter spoke to our daughter in a way that we considered completely inappropriate. Our complaint is not at all about the fact that restroom access is reserved for customers who have ordered food or drinks. We accepted this rule without any discussion and immediately placed our order. It concerns solely the way we were treated as customers, and more specifically, the behavior shown towards our six-year-old daughter. We have never before encountered such a lack of respect towards a family with a young child. Everyone is free to form their own opinion and decide whether they wish to support an establishment where customers, and in particular families with young children, are treated in this way.

06/07/2026: It's a true haven of peace! The service is attentive, the welcome warm, and the atmosphere very pleasant and calm. The value for money is simply exceptional.

19/07/2026: We sat down at a table for a drink and waited... then another couple sat down next to us. The waitress brought them the menus as soon as they sat down, and then left... we were still waiting for several minutes... So my husband got up to order, since no one was coming to greet us. The waitress brought us our drinks with the remark, "Next time, the service will be at the table." Well, next time I won't be back.

24/07/2026: One thing is for sure: the prices are affordable. That's the only redeeming quality of this establishment. As for the food, let's just say we ate. The portions were generous, but far from gourmet. It's a shame about the bagged salad... The wine will sit heavy in your stomach, which is a shame for wine country. Cleanliness is truly neglected. We didn't get sick, but we wouldn't necessarily recommend this place.

24/06/2026: In the village of Lege...great place...Lovely terrace, good food and impeccable service...the waiters and waitresses are very friendly...you can have a very good time there...The fish and chips are excellent!! In short, a very pleasant and enjoyable stop...

25/07/2026: Real nice place to dance BUT as a peanut allergy person that was HELL. My allergy is bearly mild but with so many peanuts all over the counters I couldn't stand there more than 30mn, which is a shame because my wife and I I loved it.

18/07/2026: Outrageous experience. Last night, I was assaulted in this bar. A man standing behind me violently pulled my ponytail, cracking my neck. Because it was so crowded, I couldn't see who it was. I simply asked around to see if anyone else had witnessed it. At that moment, a customer, who seemed to know the staff well, started arguing with me, saying that if I made a fuss, he'd get me kicked out of the bar. I found that unbelievable. I'm a regular at this establishment, and I thought that a customer who was assaulted would at least be listened to. A few moments later, bouncers did indeed come to remove me. I calmly explained the situation to them. They told me I should have told them directly and that they understood what had happened to me… but despite that, I was the one who was kicked out, while the person who assaulted me stayed in the bar. The message is clear: if you are assaulted at La Calle Ocho, you are more likely to be thrown out than helped. I find this handling completely unacceptable. No attempt to find the perpetrator, no real support, and in the end, it's the victim who is punished. I will never set foot in that establishment again, and I strongly advise anyone who expects even a minimum of safety and consideration against going to this bar.

04/03/2026: Very disappointing, the entire menu was mediocre. It's a shame because the setting is pleasant and the staff friendly, but they need to change the chef. I'm going to take a long break before coming back!
