21/06/2026: We visited the Michelin-starred restaurant Auberge Saint Walfrid. Given its excellent reviews, our expectations were understandably high. Upon arrival, we were seated in a beautiful dining room and looked forward to beginning our culinary journey with a nine-course tasting menu. As the restaurant is located in France, we were naturally greeted in French. Unfortunately, we do not speak French, so we politely asked whether communication in English or German would be possible, as these languages were also indicated on the restaurant’s website. Given the restaurant’s proximity to the German border, we felt this was a reasonable request. One would expect that, after such a request, communication throughout the evening would continue in one of these languages. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Time and again, the staff reverted to speaking French, making it difficult for us to fully understand the explanations and enjoy the experience. The sommelier was another disappointment. When we asked whether a wine pairing was available with the menu, he seemed not to understand the request and responded with several unclear wine suggestions, without explaining which wines would accompany which dishes. The result felt rather disorganized and confusing. Furthermore, we were left with the strong impression that we were not considered particularly interesting or valued guests. The food itself—which was truly outstanding—was often placed in front of us with little or no explanation. There was a noticeable lack of attention and engagement from the staff, and even a smile seemed difficult to find. In summary, the service was deeply disappointing and, in our opinion, not worthy of a Michelin-starred establishment. The cuisine, however, was exceptional and deserves every compliment.

04/06/2026: It is rare these days to find a really comfortable and unique place to stay. And indeed this beautiful Auberge that I found by chance, as it was half way on my route to the UK, is just that. I have returned 3 times and it remains a memorable experience. It has exquisite rooms, pleasant staff and wonderful food and wine. There is a lovely pool too. You wouldn’t know if you passed by in a car what treats lay inside for a weary traveller. 31/07/2026: Despite the rave reviews in some comments, I was rather disappointed. The quality was more suited to a buffet than the refinement of a restaurant. Even a cruise ship could do better.

05/09/2026: A family-run inn with a slightly dated interior, an outdoor terrace, and easy parking. The portions are generous and very good. The bison meat was tender and served with an excellent sauce (I was so eager to try it that I forgot to take a picture!). The kougelhopf, glazed with kirsch, is served automatically with whipped cream, whereas other restaurants charge extra! The waitress was pleasant and remained smiling despite the large number of people she had to manage (it was a group). This inn is well worth a visit.

24/08/2026: We ended up at the "Auberge de la Frohmuhl" based on the reviews, and first impressions can be deceiving: from the outside, the place doesn't look very inviting, the interior is very rustic, time seems to have stood still 60 years ago—but the food, on the other hand, is delicious. The elderly owner and his wife took over the restaurant in 1988 and haven't changed a thing. Since the restaurant is open every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Sunday, I asked him "why" and whether he was thinking about retiring. His answer was: "Well, you know, we cook every day for about 25 senior citizens from the surrounding area, and we certainly don't want to let these people down. If we're here anyway, we can stay open and serve all the other guests." 🙏🏻👍🏻 We'll be back! ❤️

28/09/2026: We came as a group of 14, and given the restaurant's reputation, we expected service to match its high standards. Unfortunately, this was far from the case. We were immediately informed that several dishes on the menu were unavailable. We were told that the kitchen was short of platters for the country-style menus, and the foie gras was not deveined—shameful for a restaurant that claims to be upscale. The wine at the end of the table remained in its bucket, waiting to be served. The fish, prepared bouillabaisse-style, was accompanied by two undercooked potatoes and no vegetables. Luckily, my neighbor had roasted potatoes. There were no seasonal vegetables on the table, more like a school cafeteria. The same goes for the fruit juices, which were unavailable. The service was nonexistent. In short, we won't be returning. My birthday was a complete disaster. Avoid at all costs.

20/09/2026: A very good inn. Pleasant setting. I've returned several times. The local cuisine is always generous. Quality wines. A beautiful room for weddings and other events. On August 15th, I had another experience at my granddaughter's wedding in the conservatory. A very beautiful and pleasant setting. Everything was perfect. Our guests were delighted by the meal prepared with homemade specialties. Thank you to Carole and Jérôme for their kindness. A wonderful, welcoming place that I highly recommend. Nearby, there's a very nice shop in a vaulted cellar. They sell excellent local products and very good quality wines. Gift baskets and gift sets are available for all occasions. The staff are welcoming, helpful, and friendly. I also recommend it.

19/08/2026: An old-fashioned brasserie or bistro, with vintage decor including stuffed animal heads, and a waitress who takes excellent care of her customers. Please note that credit cards are accepted for purchases of €10 or more.

12/06/2026: Just a quick stop for a coffee while waiting for the train. Friendly welcome from the waitress.

08/10/2026: During our houseboat trip, we stopped at the Brasserie des Éclusiers both on the way there and back, and enjoyed excellent regional cuisine on both occasions. The whole family loved it. The location right on the canal is ideal for houseboaters. We'd love to come back on our next trip! A small suggestion: Extend the boat dock a bit and offer electricity. There's definitely potential for additional business here, especially for overnight stays on houseboats – the location would be perfect.

18/10/2026: It had been years since I'd been to Noodle. It's still just as good, and the waiter was really great. I definitely won't wait that long before going back!

14/10/2026: A must-visit! Everything I've tried from the menu has been excellent. The value for money is unbeatable, and a special mention to Boun, the owner, who is lovely ☺️

11/10/2026: We've been there before for the steakhouse, which is excellent, but this time my wife had the tomahawk steak, which was excellent as usual. As for me, I tried the mixed grill couscous; the couscous and the meat were very generous and delicious. We'll definitely be back! 👌

29/09/2026: We had dinner with friends on a Saturday evening. Everything was perfect, from the welcome to the service, and of course, the food was fresh and carefully prepared. The value for money is excellent. We will gladly return.
