15/06/2026: We discovered the Auberge de la Golmotte during our holiday in Mont Dore and had a very pleasant time. We opted for the à la carte menu. The foie gras with homemade gingerbread was generous and excellent. The plates were also beautiful to look at, sprinkled with garden pea leaves – a delightful culinary discovery. The scallop dish was truly succulent with a shallot sauce and various equally delicious side dishes. Mashed potatoes, ratatouille, and candied carrots with their tops, while not groundbreaking, were also perfect in terms of both cooking and seasoning. As for dessert, the homemade pear sorbet and the praline chocolate crisp were simply divine! The ingredients are incredibly fresh and of high quality. The service is discreet yet friendly, and the serenity of this restaurant contributes to making the meal a truly delightful experience. Thank you to the chef and thank you to the waitress. We will return on our next stay in Mont Dore.

18/05/2026: Once again (our fourth visit!), everything was perfect from start to finish! Everything was delicious, refined, sophisticated, and original! The only downside: they're closed for part of August, so our friends from Nantes visiting Auvergne won't have the great opportunity to experience these two passionate and talented restaurateurs! 12/07/2026: It was a family celebration, so we headed back to our roots to enjoy ourselves and booked a table at this restaurant we know well. Upon arrival, we discovered the place was completely different following a recent change of ownership. The setting was lovely, so we thought, "Let's try something new." The servers were friendly and seemed very attentive. We chose to order the chicken supreme with blue cheese sauce. The dish arrived with a simple presentation, and the pasta seemed to be of average quality, nothing serious. We carved the chicken, and with the first bite, it felt cold, like eating ice cream. However, the color of the meat, although slightly pink, didn't indicate it was undercooked. We went to the server to point out the problem. He apologized profusely and took the dishes and reported them to the kitchen. Barely five minutes later, the same dishes we sent back came back piping hot. (I won't make any wild guesses. I'll let you be the judge of how they were reheated.) We ate everything because, despite everything, the dish wasn't inedible, but we expect better in a restaurant. The dessert didn't make up for it; the blueberry tarts were rather bland and a bit soggy. I hope we were the only ones who experienced this...

03/07/2026: The restaurant is on a quiet, shaded side street, perfect for dining on the terrace. The food is very good, but the "classic" truffade might be a bit small if you have a hearty appetite and are sticking to a starter/main or main/dessert option. In that case, opt for the "grande" truffade, or go for the full three-course meal. Overall, a very good experience.

23/06/2026: This isn't the memory we had of it from about ten years ago. I was really disappointed by the amount of truffade served in little crème brûlée ramekins (yes, I ordered the set menu, but that doesn't justify such a meager portion). Considering the price, ouch, it hurts! I felt like I'd eaten an appetizer! As a true Auvergnat, it's a real shame to still be hungry after eating a truffade...

05/06/2026: Hello, regarding the food we ate, there's nothing to complain about. My only complaint was that when I ordered a rare hamburger, the waitress told me they only cook them thoroughly. It's the first time I've ever heard that you can't cook them rare. If that's the case, then it must be frozen, and that's not indicated on the menu. On the other hand, the waiter was very friendly and smiling; the two waitresses should take a page out of his book. My opinion is based on the perspective of a restaurateur with over 44 years of experience. Sincerely

26/06/2026: Absolutely nothing to complain about, it's practically perfect. Impeccable. My wife and I had an unforgettable time at Le Chardonnay. The dishes were perfectly executed with wonderful new flavors, the wine list was carefully curated, and the service was impeccable. A lovely restaurant in an exceptional setting at the foot of Clermont-Ferrand Cathedral. The price was fair and reasonable. We'll be back and we'll definitely recommend it. 👌

07/06/2026: We arrived just as the kitchen was about to close, but they still served us very kindly and we were able to enjoy a wonderful meal in true French bistro style. The menu was concise but exquisite. As we arrived at the end of lunch service, some of the things we ordered were sold out. They offered us delicious alternatives and compensated us, although it wasn't necessary, by offering us complimentary wine. The dessert, a Paris-Brest with mushroom caramel sauce, was delightful. The coffee was accompanied by mini financiers and blackcurrant jellies. The staff was very attentive and friendly, and we will definitely return if we are ever in Clermont-Ferrand.
