18/03/2026: Loss of quality; it was better a few years ago.

14/03/2026: Update to my review (2 years later) We recently returned to this restaurant, which we had previously enjoyed very much. Unfortunately, the experience was less convincing this time. The dining room seems a bit dated, and the decor lacks freshness. The buffet also seemed less generous than those offered by competing restaurants in the area, with some dishes being very heavy on rice or vermicelli, which diminished the quality we had experienced before. On the plus side: the hot wok dish was excellent. I ordered a sampha with satay sauce, which included a succulent prawn, and both the shrimp and vegetables were very good. The oyster I tasted was also very fresh. Despite these positive points, and considering the competition in the area, we don't plan to return to this restaurant, which was once a favorite of ours.

27/03/2026: I'd been wanting to try this Japanese restaurant for a while. The takeout option is really convenient when you want to stay home. We ordered the skewer and maki menu. Everything on the menu was excellent. We loved it, and all for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend it.

18/03/2026: The very caricature of rice paddy refuse... 70 to 80 euros for two people on multiple occasions, and these scumbags don't even bother to put in the mai ku lu, in short, rotten to the core.

10/02/2026: My daughters got me the K14 takeout from this restaurant and it was delicious. I really enjoyed it and I'll definitely go to the one in Saint-Denis near Paris now. I was very happy with the taste 😍

15/11/2025: I've been going there since 2007. And it's still just as good. Prices have gone up slightly, but that's because of Macron's inflation!

18/01/2026: Catastrophic service. When you try to contact them by phone, you get a woman who barely understands French, who talks over you... and then leaves you hanging... or says she'll call her manager to resolve the situation and then leaves you hanging... It's shameful.

22/11/2025: I find it difficult to rate ramen. There are so many criteria to consider. So, I'm going to base my list on the Shoyu Special. - The broth is, in my opinion, incredible. - The pork is melt-in-your-mouth tender, but the slices are a little too thin. - The noodles are thin, and I like that. - Seaweed, Naruto, etc., are always a bonus. - And the centerpiece: the egg. The egg is perfectly cooked, runny inside and comforting outside. You just want to kiss it. The only downside is the price. It's gone up again...

08/10/2025: Delicious and consistent, I recommend the Yokohama ramen with egg. A treat.

27/01/2026: With great location just next to the river Saône in Lyon. As an asian who uses to have the taste of Ramen, I would say that all food are fresh and well prepared. However, if you use to have Ramen in Asia, with standard of gourmet demander, I strongly suggest not trying it as it is totally different from those great Japanese Ramen chains and you will be really disappointed. On the other hand, their Gyoza with Saint-Jacques et encornets are delicious especially compared to Gyoza with Pork. If you were there, really have to give it a try. In terms of service, all staffs are super friendly. Very Japanese style service. However, those who took orders are not as professional as in a restaurant as they don't take the order by persons who entered the store first and they missed served our order until we reminded them. Overall, it is a nice experience but I don't think that I will re-visit it again as the Ramen doesn't reach my expectation. However, it is still good for those who like to try fresh-made Japanese ramen in Lyon.

10/10/2025: So no, gastronomy shouldn't cost this much. There are incredible restaurants, much better for €100 per person (the price of the Hinoki menu a few years ago, by the way). I don't know why prices here have gone up so much, but the food, while excellent, doesn't justify it at all. €165 now seems like a rip-off.

30/08/2025: A meal as relaxing as it was soothing, as surprising as it may seem. Excellent cuisine, and a chef who shared his knowledge of Japanese culture with us. In short, a perfect evening, go there with your eyes closed! We sincerely hope to be able to return.

27/02/2026: Excellent restaurant, surely the best in La Roche-sur-Yon, at least for Japanese food. It goes beyond the typical Japanese restaurant experience with its cuisine that blends distinctly French and Japanese ingredients (like the miso and watercress soup). The service is also excellent; it's always a real pleasure.

26/02/2026: Without a doubt, my favorite Japanese restaurant in La Roche-sur-Yon. It goes beyond the usual sushi and skewers and offers a few slightly different dishes if that's what you're looking for. Personally, I stick to the salmon sashimi, which is always delicious. A bit pricey, but worth it. It also has the advantage of being right next to the train station and is therefore easily accessible by public transport.

31/12/2025: We had a great meal here after skiing. The sushi was freshly prepared and delicious. We ordered some sashimi, a maki mix, some neige rolls, chicken curry and a Bo Bun dish. Everything was exceptional and we will visit again before we leave to go home.

26/11/2025: We've been here several times and are always warmly welcomed. There's a wide selection of sushi, spring rolls, chicken skewers, etc. The menu is extensive and the prices are very reasonable. The products are fresh and the shop is very clean.

26/03/2026: Unfriendly, especially since I stood there for six minutes waiting for someone to even come and greet me when I arrived. Not a single apology and very little understanding afterwards; I felt like I was bothering her more than anything else. (Edit: after reading other comments, this haughty and unpleasant tone from the owner comes up frequently; perhaps she should work on that aspect if it's such a common complaint.)

02/03/2026: A lovely, cozy, family-style restaurant with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and made a genuine effort to explain the menu to us, even though we don’t speak French or Japanese. They thoughtfully accommodated all our dietary preferences, carefully noting what to avoid in each dish, and offered excellent recommendations that we truly enjoyed.

01/02/2026: I've been coming to this restaurant for years and I never get tired of it. The staff is lovely, and the dining room is spacious. The food is delicious; you can tell everything is fresh, from the maki and sashimi to the skewers… I also love their miso soup 😍 Excellent value for money, I highly recommend it!
