29/08/2024: We had a great time, everything was perfect

26/08/2024: This restaurant is truly surprising. We would almost let ourselves be fooled by its banal location on the edge of a main street, which could compare it to yet another winstub on the Wine Route. But as soon as you enter, you know where you are. Monsieur presents the cuisine with the meticulousness that befits connoisseurs of their own terroir. He knows, we quickly understand, the know-how of these people who work, at his home or nearby, who bring their products to the plate. The unstructured tarte flambée is a small feat from the start, we will delight in a homemade presskopf peppered to perfection, we will swoon over a dollop of low rib of beef - even if it is Italian, but here we love the 'Italy - marbled like a wagyu and simmered for hours. We will enjoy a Pinot Noir from across the street, and finally refresh ourselves with the inevitable Vacherin, made surprising by Sylvie. Bravo for your fine, original cuisine which has perfectly retained its Alsatian roots.

30/11/2024: tout était parfait, le lieu, l'accueil sympathique, les mets succulents, le filet de boeuf parfait, bref allez-y ...mais pas trop souvent pour que d'autres puissent en profiter:-)

15/09/2024: Wir waren gestern zum wiederholten Male im 'Caveau du Châtelet' essen und empfehlen diese Restaurant bedingungslos weiter. Wir wurden noch nie enttäuscht, das Ambiente ist sehr schön, ein Parkplatz fast vor der Tür, Küche und Service ausgezeichnet. Auch wenn vegetarische Gerichte nicht auf der ständig saisonal wechselnden kleinen Karte stehen, wird dem Wunsch des Gastes entsprochen und eben mal fix ein neues Gericht kreiert, so geschehen voriges Jahr beim Ostermenü. Eine Reservierung ist unbedingt empfohlen, am Telefon und im Restaurant spricht man auch vorzüglich Deutsch, wie jeder Franzose freut man sich über ein bonjour, bonsoir, s'il vous plaît und merci.

11/08/2024: Discovering this restaurant, we were able to reserve a table on the terrace a few minutes before going there. Very pleasant staff, copious, well-prepared dishes. The only point that would need to evolve (from my point of view) is the relatively rich cuisine (oil, butter, etc.) which does not allow you to fully enjoy products that appear to be of quality.

18/12/2024: Service is really good, place is cosy and warm but food wise not the best place in town. Yes the food is alright good but quantity wise it's a bit lacking for the price and type of plate you order (except maybe for the salad that seemed huge). Order a Tarte flambée or salad and you'll be fine. For baeckeoffe or choucroute I think there are better addresses to go to (if you want value / taste for money).

25/06/2025: Very good restaurant and very good setting. The daily specials are good. The only downside is that the service is often slow. If like us you only have 1h30 lunch break, I think you should avoid ordering starter, main course, dessert. For example, today we arrived at 12:05 and left at 13:20, we only had time to order a starter, main course, and dessert without coffee. Too bad it's a good place, but it's better to have time. We haven't been coming here for lunch for a while because of this, but this Thursday's cordon rouge is too tempting.

01/09/2024: After booking a table in person in the morning for the same day's evening, we arrived on time to a rude waiter (the same one we talked to earlier) who tells us that they don't take reservations. I can't recommend it. We certainly did not stay. Note: we're native French, so language is not a barrier. It's just a case of lack of professionalism and respect.

01/09/2024: Une jolie winstub, une cuisine alsacienne pur jus, des plats bien maîtrisés, un service léger et bien agréable. Le lieu est un peu retiré des sentiers touristiques et pourtant tout proche. Bien plus agréable en tous points aux lieux de restauration de la petite France où on est coincés comme des sardines. Arrêtez vous ici, le rapport qualité prix est correct en plus.

16/12/2024: We were very excited when they were able to fit us in last minute. We spent $83.10 euros between my partner and I; this included 2 drinks, 2 appetizers, and 2 entrees. Which for the quality of the meal, I think it was well worth the splurge. I ordered the Riesling with an onion tart and the chicken entree. All of which were fantastic! The chicken came with a delicious cheese sauce. My partner ordered the beer/picon, escargot and jambonneau. The crust on the jamonneau was so dang good. I tried to take nibble whenever he’d let me 🤣. Personally, not a fan of escargot but this was far better than the last time I tried it. Overall, we had a great time! Got to mingle with the group of locals sat next to us - bit of a language barrier but laughing is a universal language.
