14/03/2026: A very beautiful, traditional hotel. The rooms are comfortable and very clean, the decor of the two lounges is extraordinary, and the location is peaceful. The welcome was warm, and we thoroughly enjoyed dinner as well as the very generous breakfast with a wide variety of choices. A place not to be missed.

19/04/2026: A disaster. Very few people. The vast majority of the order was wrong; some items were missing, and the items that were there weren't the right ones. There were only two of us, so it wasn't too complicated in the end. Unbelievable.

28/10/2025: I really like this place; the owners are friendly, the food is simple and very good. The café/restaurant is clean, and the music is discreet and well-chosen. Furthermore, the terrace gets plenty of sunshine, and the view of the thermal park is lovely. I recommend it without hesitation.

29/03/2026: The waitress was very pleasant, but the meal was very disappointing: The meat wasn't cooked as requested. The side dish wasn't specified. The wait was quite long.

05/03/2026: On a weekend getaway in the area We had a lovely evening with friends for Valentine's Day. The set meal was delicious. The vegetarian meal I requested at the last minute for my daughter was also very good. Thank you so much for a wonderful time.

14/04/2026: Passing through the village at 2 p.m., I couldn't find anything to eat: no service anywhere. This restaurant, open until 3 p.m., refused to serve me. And when I simply asked for a piece of bread, I was curtly directed to a bakery supposedly open at 2:30 p.m.... when in fact it doesn't open until 4 p.m. Throwing away bread instead of helping a customer—is that what hospitality means? Bravo.

26/01/2026: I had mixed feelings about this "Brasserie." The set menus were very expensive, and the portions weren't particularly generous. I was disappointed every time I visited, despite several attempts. In 2025, I noticed a real improvement, which is why I'm raising my rating. However, I still find the set menus a bit pricey. In 2026, there was another decline in the quality of the food and service, along with a further price increase. Therefore, I'm reverting to 3 stars.

02/04/2026: A very pleasant stay at this hotel located in the center of Ambert. Room (10) is spacious with excellent bedding and a large bathroom. Add to that a delicious restaurant and a warm welcome (despite what the naysayers might say). Thank you.

05/05/2026: We spent three nights at this hotel. The staff is very welcoming and the rooms are very pleasant. There was a small problem with a spring in room 414, but it was quickly resolved. The housekeeping staff is excellent. The food is very good. Special mention to the lady who was in charge of breakfast on Saturday, May 2nd. She had incredible energy serving the guests, covering miles during service to replenish the food: well done! The only downside was the lack of cloth napkins on the tables. While this isn't a big deal, the half-sized white paper napkins are more like something you'd find at a mobile chip shop—no, not in a Mercure hotel.

04/05/2026: I was very disappointed with this hotel. I had booked a special package that included a bottle of wine in the room upon arrival and a late dinner. However, the wine was mediocre; we didn't drink it. We didn't use the late dinner because we were planning to enjoy the indoor pool, but it was so cold that we only took a quick dip. This hotel is absolutely not worth the price I paid!

21/02/2026: A very pleasant place thanks to the friendly and welcoming staff, especially the young man who served us at the end of a busy day... generous and good quality cuisine, and finally, a beautiful view of the Roc and the start of the slopes – in short, a must-visit during a stay in Chastreix.
