30/07/2026: We wanted to get a drink during a bike ride and were turned away, as they claimed only served food. The place wasn't full, and we might have ordered a snack as well. Very disappointing, very arrogant and unfriendly. They probably don't need the business. We can't comment on the food.

16/07/2026: For us Alsatians, it was the "Fuchs am Buckel" of the 1960s, an institution. We went there to try their tarte flambée with a large mixed salad: excellent. If you're looking for a romantic atmosphere on the terrace, this is the place. The garden overlooking the Ill River is beautifully landscaped, and the staff is friendly. Two points to note, however: a limited selection of beers and a somewhat outdated website. We'll definitely go back to try other dishes.

18/06/2026: Second visit to Bagelstein this Saturday, July 26th, and still that strange feeling… like I'd landed in a 90s American sitcom, somewhere between Central Perk and a vintage New York deli. The decor is a gem of nostalgia: walls covered in quirky photos, humorous signs, newspaper clippings, and retro-style air conditioning that makes you feel like it's about to crack a joke or offer you an old-fashioned coffee. It's like traveling back in time without leaving Strasbourg. The staff is smiling and welcoming. In short, not robots, which is refreshing. There were three of us, and we ordered three meal deals with drinks and sides. The bagels offer a wide selection of breads (whole wheat, plain, onion & sweet pepper, sesame toast… and probably others I missed while drooling over the counter). You can create your own bagel like an inspired artist… or choose a pre-made recipe like a tired tourist. On the dessert and drink front, there's cheesecake, muffins, cakes, cookies… plenty to choose from, and a good selection of drinks too (if you're looking for something other than depressing plain water). They say it's all homemade, and it certainly tastes good, so we're inclined to believe them. Special mention goes to the overall atmosphere, which is really well done and makes you want to linger a bit (and take pictures of everything). I haven't tried their mac & cheese yet, but it's on my top to-do list, right after "pay my taxes" and "become a better person." In short, a great place to eat quickly, well, and with a smile… all while getting a little taste of America (without the guns or the dollar bills).

09/07/2026: Good experience: the food was good, and the staff and manager were friendly. As someone who loves peace and quiet, I appreciated coming when it wasn't very busy. However, many people ordered takeout, which speaks volumes about the quality of the food.

I would like to give a special mention to the young woman who was always on the go, yet remained cheerful and kind in her interactions with us throughout the evening.

21/07/2026: Two rather disappointing restaurant experiences. Mistakes in the orders, missing items, expensive and uninspired salads. There are much nicer restaurants in Illkirch.

12/07/2026: We had an excellent brunch, which I highly recommend! The servers were very friendly and professional. The buffet was very well stocked, with a wide selection to suit all tastes, both savory and sweet. It's a real shame their hard work wasn't better received, as there were very few customers. This establishment deserves to be much more widely known!

12/07/2026: This was our second time in the area. Our first visit to this restaurant went very well, so we decided to return, but this second experience was a real disappointment. The wait was interminable, and to top it off, there was a mistake with our order. It's a real shame, as we had such fond memories of our first visit. We are very disappointed and hope this bad experience will remain a one-off.

27/07/2026: Papa Lisa remains a true Strasbourg institution, a place people love to return to for a good meal in a friendly atmosphere. For years, it has offered generous cuisine, featuring authentic Alsatian classics and pizzas that are consistently excellent. However, during my last two visits, I felt something had changed in the kitchen. While the pizzas are still a sure thing, the other dishes seemed less refined and less flavorful than before. It's a shame, because this establishment has long been a benchmark for me. I sincerely hope this is just a temporary dip in quality, because Papa Lisa deserves to return to the level that made its reputation.

03/07/2026: I didn't like it because it feels like you're going to an Italian restaurant, but the decor is completely Indian. The pizza left much to be desired, and I didn't try the Indian dishes, so I won't be able to comment on them. I don't think that fusion is a good idea.

12/06/2026: The setting is nice, and I relied on Google reviews to enjoy a good couscous, but what a disappointment! My daughter told me that even the school cafeteria food was better… that should tell you something… The sauce, the vegetables, and even the merguez sausages were all bland. So I won't be going back.
