26/04/2026: Quaint little place with good service at the market

03/04/2026: I visited Les Jardins restaurant, located inside the Marché des Capucins in Bordeaux, to sample fresh oysters, and the experience was simply incredible. I'd been wanting to try oysters in this region for a long time, as it's known for its oyster farming tradition, and here I was able to fulfill that little dream. The oysters were fresh and delicious, with a flavor that truly reflects the quality of the local product. The service was excellent, which made the experience even more enjoyable. It's definitely a place I recommend if you're visiting the market and want to savor an authentic taste of Bordeaux.

26/04/2026: I ordered the beef tagliata. Frankly, paying €29 for a dish of second-rate meat, served with wilted lettuce and tiny, overcooked fries, is unprofessional. The service, however, was pleasant. I do not recommend this restaurant.

16/04/2026: The meat was bad, full of gristle. I reported it, and they told me it depended on the deliveries, but they didn't offer me anything... Very expensive for the poor quality of the burgers as well. The restaurant is old and questionable.

09/04/2026: We were promised free ice cream in exchange for leaving a good review. Everything seemed fine at first, but we realized at the end that we were still charged and no compensation was offered as initially promised. Unfortunately, we only noticed this after we had already paid. A very disappointing practice.

21/04/2026: We were served quite quickly. I ordered a medium-rare duck breast, but it came out rare in the center. I don't think any restaurant in the southwest knows how to cook it perfectly, so I won't hold it against them. The veggie burger was outrageous: no patty, just cheese, so we were still hungry after the meal. The fries are unlimited, but not the salad :( They have tea lights; I tried them, and they help keep the meat warm longer if you don't eat too fast, which is appreciated. The service was prompt, but we came during the off-season on a Monday evening in April, and there were only two tables occupied in the entire restaurant. I'm giving it four stars because the price is lower than other restaurants in the area. In another city, with these prices, I would have given it three stars.

12/04/2026: L’Huitrier Pie in Saint-Émilion is easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had over the years traveling through France, and yes, it’s featured in the Michelin Guide. First off, Saint-Émilion itself is a UNESCO World Heritage village near Bordeaux, widely known for the quality of its wines. While it can get crowded at times, the setting alone already puts you in the right mood. From there, the restaurant delivers across the board, beautiful setting, well-paced service, attentive staff, and outstanding food and wine. What really stands out is the value: for this level of quality, the price point is surprisingly reasonable. All in all, a true 5-star experience.
