07/09/2024: Stopped for a mid afternoon snack. That quickly turned into two plates of charcuterie and cheeses and three wines. Nice selection of meats, the cheeses were excellent and the waitress was really helpful selecting different wines for us to try. Would recommend.

06/07/2025: Perfect, the pizzas are very good with a thin and crispy crust! Very friendly and responsive staff. Very welcoming and affordable restaurant, I recommend it!

15/06/2025: Very friendly welcome regarding the pizza, even if there was precision about the thin crust, the topping and the taste are still subjective. It may not have been to our taste but it was worth trying.

30/08/2024: August 2024 The dishes served were good (downside on the piece of beef which was rare instead of medium) However, it was 21°C without wind, and we were forced to have braziers (at the request of other customers) to heat the terrace even though all we had to do was put on a jacket. Heating terraces has become prohibited and in summer it is simply unacceptable

29/08/2024: Very successful last evening of vacation in this legendary place under the cute lanterns with a friendly and professional welcome and a delicious dinner. The Pyla as we like it from Arcachon

16/12/2024: Passing through the city center and in front of Le Bistrot des Grands Hommes, the dish of the day tempts us. The room is full, so we have a drink on the outdoor terrace while a table becomes available. Beautiful flank steak with pepper sauce, homemade fries + bowl of salad for €14. Honestly, the quality/price ratio is unbeatable. A rum baba for dessert which, as we were told when ordering, is not really one since it is made on the basis of the financiers they make to serve with the coffees. Well soaked, this dessert is very good. Rum baba-style financier. Everything is homemade, the welcome and the service are perfect.

12/12/2024: I think the bistrot des grands hommes is one of the best coffees in Bordeaux. It has recently been completely renovated with taste and very high quality. The sound and musical ambiance is perfect. The server Loïc is incredibly helpful and friendly. The room and the terrace are both very pleasant. The coffee is good. The espresso and the long coffee are both charged at €2.20, the same price as the other cafés on the square, with the exception of another which charges them at €2.50. Coffee is served with a delicious homemade financier. A truly perfect moment. THANKS.

11/01/2025: Very good for relaxing in the evening but there are a lot of downsides that won't bring me back: - the menus printed in black and white on damaged A4 sheets and slipped into grained plastic pockets, also damaged, it looks like a local kebab - prices a little high for what is offered. It's pretty good even if too salty and not exceptional - the decor is terrible. It feels like a canteen and the cinema side doesn't stand out, especially with the giant screens showing sports matches. So no connection - the waiters were very nice but who came to see us 5 times during the entire meal and who kept glancing towards our table to try to clear us, even though the glasses and plates were not there. were not empty, but also to make sure again and again that everything was okay. It's very caring but a little too intrusive I find that the establishment is not exploiting its potential at all and that is a shame.

07/12/2025: A place worth discovering, after making a reservation. A very warm welcome, a friendly and inviting atmosphere. The waitstaff is professional and attentive to customers. The menu offers a choice of bistro or tapas dishes, which can be mixed and matched. In the kitchen, it's an art form: respect for fresh ingredients, perfect cooking, homemade sauces, elegant presentation, and excellent wine. It's rare to find such authentic homemade food; well done! 03/12/2025: The restaurant is well located, the service efficient, but you shouldn't deviate from the standard order. As for the food, the dishes were good but lukewarm, which is a shame for a leek fondue and risotto, especially since they were very good.
