I came on Sunday afternoon, June 15th, to buy two gifts at the store at 34 rue St. James.
I'm writing to you because I'm very skeptical... and very jaded...
When I went through the checkout,
I clearly stated that I needed two gift packages for two birthdays.
They showed me a nice pink and white package, which I paid for, but they had already charged me.
Then, oh no, finally, if it's for two different little girls, Okay, let's separate the gifts.
The first, a kind of transparent white envelope... the saleswoman apologizes, okay.
The second is a mug in a square package. She takes out a brown envelope, puts the package inside—which is too big for the envelope—cuts off the top, and puts a sticker inside. I'm perplexed... I honestly allow myself to say to her:
"Well, it's average, it's for a little girl's birthday,
it doesn't look very birthday-like
and the package...is a bit ugly, you know"...(without malice, with a little smile, tilting her head a little to the side and inviting her to think, that kind of attitude)
At that, she, very offended,
tells me that I'm mean, that it's not nice at all of me...that she's going to the extra trouble to make me this package and that she doesn't have to do it...
(No kidding???
Should I have gone into raptures???)
And insisting several times, without listening to me, that I don't want to give it like that, nor in front of other mothers. At one point, I got annoyed when the young lady retorted that, and I quote:
"Generally, people come to us, buy a gift, then go to h**a to buy some gifts and make their own."
At that point, her colleague arrived and took over, which I thought was great.
But she decided to side with her without listening to me either.
Tired, I asked for a refund.
In the end, they gave me the lovely gift I'd originally given.
I left with my children, with a very annoyed "Have a nice Sunday," which says it all... plus comments behind my back as I left...
Very unpleasant. Frankly, I was furious.
My message to the manager, and perhaps to these two people who didn't understand where they worked.
It's a suggestion... You can do what you want with it:
When you're a store like yours, with the name you want to forge,
a strong and recognizable identity,
based on sharp and stylish choices:
YES, people expect to receive a gift package from your store, and in the image of your store.
The mindset of your customers who take the trouble to come to your store, on a side street off the main roads, is this:
I didn't buy a gift in a hurry somewhere else between two errands while buying milk and laundry detergent.
I took the time for these little girls, to go to the right place,
to look for gifts for them, personalized, with a beautiful package that I'll be happy to give them.
Through this gift, we show that we didn't go to any ordinary store.
And we pay a little more than elsewhere for that. Also:
That we go to a local store, not a chain store.
But above all, when we pay a premium price for an item that's "above the price" at your store, YES we expect to be listened to and well received with a well-packaged item.
As for the young lady, it would be good to avoid the comments and go to the competitor's store if I'm there...and to be honest with myself.
I came to your store to be received with care. There you go, I really wanted to explain to you the impact of such a sale.
I took the time to write you this message.
I'm giving it one star for this mishap.
The store itself is worth 5 stars.
But despite everything, after this experience, it gives:

27/12/2025: I booked this restaurant for the 27th of December for Lunch with my family during my Christmas Holiday in Bordeaux. We had to cancel the reservation for personal reasons and I forgot to cancel my reservation (noting that I didn’t confirm the reservation at any moment and the restaurant didn’t even call me to confirm). I called to restaurant to kindly ask them to cancel the reservation but they still charged me 100€ per person. So I payed in total 300€ for not even going there. Be careful when booking to this establishment as they won’t be understanding at all even during Christmas time and will charge you a huge amount for being able to attend the reservation.
06/12/2025: The height of absurdity! Arriving at night, admittedly, but using a mobile phone for light would have been acceptable. The welcome was perfect, the food good, and the atmosphere hushed. For a novice in fine dining, this might be tolerable, until the extremely expensive bill, especially considering we weren't offered an aperitif or even a digestif, and we were advised to keep our knives on throughout the meal (a five-course menu with fish and meat)! And what about the wine prices (see the wine list)? A rather disappointing experience compared to other establishments in the Bordeaux region.

27/12/2025: Arriving one December evening, still basking in the magic of Christmas, the welcome at this restaurant brought us crashing back down to earth. The waitresses had no empathy, their smiles were forced, they weren't very friendly, and they were openly mocking... a shame, because the food was otherwise very good (the fish was slightly too salty). The portion was generous, and we weren't very hungry for dessert. We asked for one scoop of ice cream instead of three, and this caused a problem because ice cream is now an à la carte item, not part of the set menu... (uh... where's the logic? Don't bother looking for it...). The customer in this restaurant isn't respected; they're just there to pay. The waitresses should perhaps consider a different line of work.

22/01/2026: Everything was perfect! I ordered two takeout platters and was treated like royalty. The owners were very friendly, the sushi was extremely good, the soup was delicious, and ABOVE ALL, it was cheaper than anywhere else. I highly recommend ICI SUSHI!

21/02/2026: A very nice restaurant, there were six of us and everyone enjoyed their meal. It's quite intimate, not many tables, so I think it's best to book. The welcome, service and atmosphere were very good, and the prices were very reasonable.
19/12/2025: You're immediately immersed in the atmosphere of this traditional restaurant. The food is carefully prepared and excellent. I highly recommend trying the cuisine here.

23/12/2025: As regular travelers on the Oléron-Perpignan route, this family-run hotel has become our go-to stop. The rooms are clean and functional, the welcome is always warm, and the breakfast is superb!
11/10/2025: Ideally located on the bike path, a really nice little hotel, with a very pleasant terrace and a secure area for bikes. The welcome is very friendly, very good value for money. A small supermarket, a restaurant and a laundromat are 100m away. In short, the ideal stop for our bike trip!

06/03/2026: Eating lunch at a two-Michelin-starred restaurant for under €30 for a starter and main course is still hard to believe, and yet Gabriel offers it. Everything is perfect: the originality, the textures, the cooking, the flavorful sauces that accompany each dish. Gourmet food at a low price, and at that price I even had sweetbreads! You'd have to be crazy not to go!
19/02/2026: Gabriel will always hold an unforgettable memory for me.
I celebrated my 35th birthday there in June, with my sweetheart, and everything was absolutely perfect.
We dined outside, overlooking the magnificent Place de la Bourse: the setting was sublime, the atmosphere soft and romantic.
The welcome, the service, the attentiveness, and the cuisine… everything was just right, elegant, and thoughtful.
A beautiful and precious moment that I will never forget. Thank you for this perfect interlude ✨

We ordered six couscous bubuche and two without meat.
It's absolutely delicious; the harissa is great after being diluted with vegetable juice.
The portions are huge, and four of us with small appetites were able to eat it for lunch the next day. The service was perfect, friendly, and professional.
Easy parking on Sundays.

People who just want to treat themselves once a year end up paying as if they were going to a fine dining establishment, which it absolutely isn't. It used to be a place for friends to meet up, but it won't be anymore. The students aren't thanking you. Goodbye

28/11/2025: I was disappointed before the renovations, so we wanted to try again afterward, thinking we'd eat better, but I was still disappointed. The burgers were completely cold, and the meat was the same! The cheese wasn't melted at all, not even in the raclette burger... really not great.
