14/03/2026: Best restaurant in Orthez What I appreciate is that the menu is constantly changing. The dishes are always original and sophisticated. The dining room is pleasant and the service is friendly. The hardest part is when you find a dish or dessert that's absolutely divine, only to discover it's no longer on the menu the next time. Fortunately, there are always other great things to discover on the regular menu.

13/03/2026: Arriving at noon, lunchtime, we had drinks inside because the outside was booked. We were having a good time, but when we were almost finished, the owner, whose profile I'd been directed to, came to our table to ask us to free it up for other customers who wanted to eat. He didn't even ask if we wanted to continue drinking or eating. How sad! He just wanted to make some cash for lunch. It's not normal; a lack of professionalism and diplomacy. I won't be back, that's for sure. He's a jerk, period.

21/02/2026: Family meal for 16 people, very warm welcome from the owner and the servers, really very friendly. The poached egg was delicious, the meat was tender and very pleasant, and the dessert was excellent. See you soon! 🍽️

05/01/2026: A typical Basque restaurant with a pleasant setting and stone walls. The staff is very friendly. They serve Basque food; I particularly enjoyed the blood sausage and the pig's trotters—everything was delicious. I love eating local food, and the village is very charming. My only complaint was the apple wine; it's unusual, but you have to try everything to form your own opinion.

13/12/2025: We were delighted to have lunch at a cider house. However, what a disappointment when the staff informed us that the word "cider house" was still displayed on the establishment's sign, but they hadn't been offering the typical cider house menu for several months. The baby squid were undercooked and rubbery, and the one I tasted from my friend's dish had a muddy taste. I asked if the Basque cake was homemade, and they said yes. However, just by looking at the slice on the plate, it was clear we'd been misled! It had been microwaved and topped with caramel. We were very disappointed, especially since it had seemed so promising! The chef is friendly.

16/03/2026: Excellent welcome and very accommodating; the wine served wasn't very good (too young and green), but the owner didn't hesitate to change it without charging extra.

11/03/2026: New owner/manager, but it's still a pleasure to go there for a coffee and a pastry. Also a great place to stop for a meal.

12/03/2026: We came for lunch, it being off-season so it was usually quiet. However, we were refused entry, officially because they were overwhelmed and didn't want to compromise their service. There were empty tables and they didn't seem that overwhelmed. The way they said it and the lack of consideration from the person we spoke to makes me think there's another reason. In any case, it's not a commendable practice.

02/12/2025: We decided to try it, following some recommendations. As for the price, there's nothing to complain about. But just because the price is reasonable doesn't mean the quality shouldn't be there. Vegetable soup (nothing to say) Simple cold cuts. Crudités: 1/4 of a salad leaf per person + 1/4 of canned tomatoes and carrots (disaster). It's so easy to make fresh carrots. Sausage (frozen fries). Dessert: chocolate fondant (frozen) and (custard from a carton). It's too easy to cook under these conditions. They could simply make homemade rice pudding and homemade apple tart. Two dessert options would be enough, and they would be homemade. We won't be back; we prefer homemade food.

15/03/2026: We had a wonderful stay. The service was excellent, the staff were friendly, attentive, and very kind, and the food was divine. If you're planning a trip to Espelette, I highly recommend this establishment.

11/03/2026: We had a very pleasant lunch! The staff were very kind; we arrived with a baby in a stroller and a dog, and they seated us in a separate room (which was great so as not to disturb the other customers). The food was delicious, the pork was excellent! We highly recommend this place.

We tried the menu twice, and both times, all we could do was offer our congratulations and express our satisfaction to the chef. Don't hesitate, go and meet him; with his talent, you'll meet a real character. Thank you for your warm welcome and the attention you gave us.

28/10/2025: Stopped by for lunch today on a whim with my wife. Excellent dish of the day: pork shoulder with fries. Excellent suggestion: scallop risotto. Smiles guaranteed, attentive service guaranteed, and super friendly waiters.
