An hour's wait for a mediocre little salad and a dish with burnt turkey and potatoes 🙄 A waiter made us feel uncomfortable around a Spanish couple sitting next to us... he snatched the menu from this poor woman's hands to give it to us... they themselves had been there even longer than we had.... Avoid at all costs!!!

29/08/2026: We bought two Basque cakes, one with cream and the other with cherry; both were delicious, especially the cream one, which was absolutely divine.

20/08/2026: It's very good, the waiter is very funny. We've been there several times already, and we'll continue to do so, especially since the view from the terrace is simply magnificent.

02/08/2026: Excellent. Intimate and simple lunch on the terrace. Quality ingredients and a local menu. Pleasant service. It feels like home.

29/07/2026: The Etchebarne restaurant in Mendionde boasts a spacious and beautiful dining room, nicely temperature-controlled. The tables are attractively set, and the welcome is warm and friendly. However, the "garbure" is a disappointment from the outset, a misnomer, as this simple vegetable soup would have required the addition of Tarbais beans, pork knuckle, and duck confit! Later, the duck confit and the breaded hake, each accompanied by half a potato with maître d'hôtel butter, were quite good, as was the coq au vin with its small chocolate tuile. The meal concluded with a very good coffee. Ultimately, the bill was rather high: almost €40 per person for soup, a main course, a flan, and coffee. The value for money is therefore significantly less favorable than in most restaurants in the area.

29/07/2026: Very pleasant, the waiter was funny and very friendly! The menu was well-suited and excellent! Not too long a wait, but the menu is a bit small, although the food is good!

28/07/2026: We went there at lunchtime for an aperitif and the service was excellent. This made us want to go back for dinner that evening for a birthday celebration, but it was a disaster. The blond waiter with a ponytail was incredibly arrogant and even pretended to be the owner—a lame joke. He offered us coffee without offering us dessert. We ordered five desserts, but the bill was already on the table before we were even served. He really ruined our evening, especially our birthday. We tried to see the owners, but of course, they were nowhere to be seen. As for the meal itself, it was excellent. Thank you to the rest of the team. Unfortunately, I won't be able to say goodbye. 07/08/2026: We ate at the SIN cafeteria after visiting the Cité de l'Océan. The Bayonne ham and sheep's cheese sandwich was delicious, as was the ham and butter sandwich. The person who served us, with a Spanish accent, was incredibly kind—the kind of person we wish we saw more often. We had a lovely time.

19/07/2026: The food is delicious, the setting is magnificent, the servers do their best, but... the owner is awful. It's hard to understand how someone could be so unpleasant. Yet we didn't make any special requests. The comments fly thick and fast, and it spoils this otherwise delightful culinary experience. It's understandable that it's not crowded; it's not just about the price.

20/08/2026: Excellent little Japanese restaurant. I've eaten Japanese food often, but this one is the best of all. And the prices are more than reasonable. Very friendly staff, I highly recommend it.

20/08/2026: I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. During the meal, the service was poor and the sushi was very basic. It was embarrassing when we left; we were with children who slept through the entire meal and, when they woke up, were even more pathetic, and the waiters laughed at them, mimicking their behavior. A complete lack of empathy and customer service.

09/09/2026: A rather disappointing experience today at the McDonald's in Mourenx. The wait was incredibly long, which is a shame. However, I must point out that the young man who served me was very pleasant, smiling, and professional. On the other hand, the person who then served my meal was particularly unpleasant, unfriendly, and disrespectful in the way he spoke to me. This kind of attitude is truly regrettable, especially when you're simply there to pick up an order. A little more respect and courtesy towards customers would be appreciated. It's a shame, because the young man at the register was, in contrast, very welcoming.

18/04/2026: Hello, I don't usually write this type of review, but I was disappointed with this establishment. I contacted them but received no response, so I wanted to share my experience. First, I want to clarify that this message is intended to be constructive and help improve the experience for future guests. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with our stay, especially compared to the expectations associated with your establishment's 5-star rating. Regarding the overwater bungalow: • The size and layout did not match the photos on Booking and other platforms. We had a bungalow of approximately 20 square meters, without a lounge area, which was less comfortable than we had imagined. • The sloping floor was difficult to live in, and a constant noise, probably from the pump, disturbed our stay despite our complaints. • The finishing touches in the suite were disappointing: damaged and torn curtains, a poorly attached toilet paper holder, no way to play music, a telephone not fixed to the wall, and marks and imperfections on the walls and paint. These details give an overall impression of lower quality than one would expect from a 5-star hotel. Regarding the spa: • Upon arrival, we waited 10 minutes without being greeted. • Bathrobes and towels were neither available nor neatly arranged, which created confusion regarding seating. We therefore shared a lounge chair, and no drinks were offered. • The spa did not match the images: no hammam, only a small sauna, and the showers showed signs of mold. The slippers appeared to be reused, which was neither pleasant nor hygienic. Regarding breakfast: • Arriving at 10:00 AM, several items were missing. For €36, the service seemed somewhat out of step with what is offered on-site. Other points: • I noticed on resale sites that some prices were lower than those offered directly by the hotel, with additional services included. When I mentioned this, the response was that it was due to supply and demand. It remains surprising, especially for 5-star establishments, that third parties can offer a lower price than the hotel. Positive points: • The staff who took us to the boat were very friendly and welcoming. • The sommelier was pleasant and attentive. In summary, our overall experience did not live up to our expectations for a 5-star stay, and I was quite disappointed. However, I hope that this feedback will be taken constructively to improve services and the satisfaction of future guests.
