23/09/2026: A lovely time spent on the terrace overlooking the quay. I really appreciated the service and the helpful recommendations for wines and sharing plates. The food was high quality and well-prepared; a special mention for the baby squid!

14/09/2026: We arrived Saturday evening around 11 pm and the welcome was simply perfect. Despite the late hour, the staff seated us with a smile and we had a truly excellent meal. A huge thank you in particular to Thibault, who was incredibly kind throughout the entire service. Even though desserts were no longer being served at that hour, he actually reopened the restaurant's second dining room to go and prepare one for me! A rare gesture that made all the difference. The dishes are excellent and the staff is remarkably attentive. We had a wonderful time at La Karafe. Don't hesitate for a second, it's a top-notch restaurant in Bayonne!

16/08/2026: An Asian-style restaurant with an extensive menu. The food is exactly how Europeans imagine Southeast Asian cuisine. The beer, by the way, is from China. The service is very friendly, though they occasionally struggle with the number of guests.

30/09/2026: The staff were friendly and excellent, and the service was impeccable. The dishes were beautifully prepared, from the meat jus and octopus to the buttery mashed potatoes and the wines. We went back three times... I highly recommend it... I can't wait to return to St Jean de Luz.

25/09/2026: Highly recommended and deserved it. Seating in the immaculate dining room but near the open air terrace. Friendly welcome, impeccable professional service from English ( and probably other language ) proficient, well knowledgeable waitstaff. The freshest oysters, superbly presented whole baked merlu, scrumptious apple pie, a complete wine list offering an array of local and national ( which means French/Italian/Spanish ) vintages. And a sweet bill, so you don’t have to call your loan officer in New York.

03/10/2026: Avoid this place! This restaurant doesn't listen to its customers and refuses to accept criticism. Look at older reviews that express the same feelings. It's necessary to set the record straight regarding your response: Missing information about the ribeye steak: It is nowhere stated that the ribeye steak on the menu is meant to be shared. Other older reviews on your page already point this out. Furthermore, the meat served was excessively fatty and contained a disproportionate amount of bone compared to the edible portion (as shown in the attached photos). Goodwill gesture and apple juice: The glass of apple juice wasn't charged out of pure generosity, but simply because the apple juice included in the unlimited drink deal was never actually served to us. Attitude and Team Management: Regarding your lack of consideration, when we pointed out the inconsistencies with the manager, she dismissed the issue by contemptuously explaining that the employees were newly hired, didn't yet know how things worked, and were "just regular employees." When we suggested she call the servers to confirm our statements, she categorically refused to speak with them. It is precisely this refusal and behavior that demonstrate the bad faith and condescension we denounced.

02/10/2026: There were two of us that day, and we had a wonderful time. We're from the area, so we know a little about the traditions of our good old cider houses. The rib-eye steak was excellent, perfectly cooked, the charcuterie very good, and the welcome was pleasant. And since it seems we need to mention it: sagardoa, Basque cider, is something you either love or hate. Tastes are subjective. But when you come to the Basque Country on holiday and walk into a traditional cider house, the least you can do is perhaps learn a little about what a sagardotegi is and the traditions that go with it. Basque cider isn't Breton cider, and that's precisely the point! 😄 It's drier, more rustic, with its own characteristics and, above all, a real story behind it. You might not like it, no problem. But criticizing a Basque cider house for serving Basque cider is rather odd. The same goes for the ribeye steak: in this kind of establishment, prime cuts are meant to be shared. The bone is part of the meat, and that's hardly a surprise when you order a ribeye. So, to tourists visiting our region: enjoy yourselves, discover our products and traditions. And if you're unfamiliar with them, do some research before your vacation. 😉 As for us, we have no complaints: we'll gladly return. 🌶️🥩🍏

25/08/2026: The best Basque cake (cream for me, I can't speak for the others). The best pastries. The best ice cream (special mention for the pistachio and vanilla). A delight, a joy, an absolute must!

24/08/2026: For me, the best cakes in the Basque Country are at Pariès!! And their Kanougas (caramels) are to die for!!

13/09/2026: Overall, not too bad. The Kir was a bit bland and the white wine wasn't great. The meal was decent and plentiful. The apple tart was a bit light.

22/08/2026: Punctuality is clearly not a Swedish value. This is the second time I've come right when they open, because 10 am on a Saturday already blocks off a whole morning, and apparently it's difficult to keep to the schedule.

17/08/2026: It says the store closes at 8:00 PM, but everything is closed at 7:46 PM! The security guard tells me he's been ordered to close at 7:45 PM, and I can't even get an item that's in front of the registers. I've come a long way; this is unacceptable! This is truly the ONLY IKEA that acts this way. I will now boycott this store, or at least the Bayonne location, and I will encourage everyone I know to do the same!

30/09/2026: "Welcome to Bi Ur Arte, the only place where you pay half your salary to be humiliated like in a survival course. You barely sit down before you don't even have time to breathe: the waiters swarm you like vultures, forcing you to order drinks. The harassment starts immediately, with no respite. As for the food, it's a complete disaster. It's bland, sloppy, and their sense of timing is pure comic genius: the bread arrives on the table only after everyone's plates are completely empty. The excuse of the century? 'Sorry, it was in the oven.' They must have sown the seeds and waited for the harvest in the kitchen; there's no other explanation. But the highlight of the show, the gold medal for sheer contempt, goes to the waiter. The guy comes to ask us if we're going to pee, using the excuse that he's cleaning the toilets, and then seriously warns us that if we go, we'll be the ones mopping up afterward!" And, staring at my dumbfounded gaze, he continues without batting an eye, telling me that anyway, I have "the profile for washing dishes." Excuse me?! I pay top dollar to swallow your disgusting concoction, and as a bonus, I get a career change to dishwashing? In short, cafeteria food sold at three-star prices, served by insolent clowns. If you're a masochist and you enjoy paying to be insulted on an empty stomach, go for it. Otherwise, move along. It was clearly better with the old team.

22/09/2026: Getting a sit was fairly easy if you arrive a bit before lunch time. The service was a bit slow or maybe it was just that it was a Sunday and they were understaffed. Would have given it a 5/5 if not for that or the fact that they only have Pepsi (no coca cola). The food was great. We all ordered burgers. The triple smash was very very good. Really recommend it!

02/05/2026: After a somewhat mixed first visit in August 2024, we returned for a stay in Béarn. For me, Le Chalet is now the best restaurant in Salies, thanks to the quality of the ingredients, the superb decor, and the ambiance, which this time was a very pleasant and mellow concert – thank you Rosewoodcover! 😉 The owners are incredibly attentive, and it's clear they're invested in their establishment, as are their employees. I highly recommend it! 😊
