02/07/2025: The atmosphere in this bar is very pleasant, as are the decor and the terrace. The prices are relatively high (this is true almost everywhere in Lille, however), and the bar doesn't accept menu items below €6, so it's best to have some cash on you for smaller orders. The waiters also get a little jaded at the end of the evening, although they remain courteous and efficient. I would definitely return if the opportunity arose.

14/04/2026: Our first time at Brasserie des Flandres and we weren't disappointed! We had a very good meal at a reasonable price. Moreover, the owners gave us a warm welcome. We will definitely be back very soon.

19/04/2026: Passing through the area, we stopped by for fries and burgers. There were several of us, but everyone agreed that the fries were too hard and not salty at all. I ordered a Biky burger, and it didn't come with any vegetables, just three slices of pickle. It was tasty, but it would have been better with some fresh vegetables. The order was quite large, and there were no distinguishing features to indicate, for example, whether a particular burger had onions or not.

18/04/2026: The prices are outrageous! The menu on their website doesn't show the correct prices (old prices that are over two years old!). €2.40 for a small pot of sauce! The large fry container wasn't even full (there was still 2 cm of empty space)! In short, last time I'm coming here!

10/04/2026: We arrived around 1:30 PM and there was only one customer ahead of us. She was checking her order again; they'd forgotten the mayo. Anyway. We placed our order and went to eat. They'd switched the sauces in our dishes; my partner hates the sauce I ordered, so we had to swap our meals. Also, it says "homemade bread," yeah, maybe it's baked on-site like any other chip shop, but the bread is clearly store-bought. The young servers were getting yelled at in front of the customers; the atmosphere wasn't great. On the other hand, the fries were good and the price was reasonable. Note that they also have a restaurant, and we only tried the outdoor chip shop. After this experience, we won't be trying the restaurant despite the good things we'd heard.

25/04/2026: Whether it's a plate, a sandwich, or a kebab wrap, everything is excellent with fast service! A kebab wrap ordered the day before is just as good cold as it is reheated! The ingredients have meld together, and the flavor is definitely there.

15/03/2026: My experience at Hippopotamus Lille met all my expectations: simple, quick, and efficient. Ideal for a meal where you don't want to waste time without sacrificing quality. The service is well-oiled and the welcome is pleasant. I recommend it for a lunch break or dinner without any unpleasant surprises.

19/04/2026: I just realized that I bought a box of 4 chicken cordon bleu on Tuesday, April 14th, which expired on April 12th 😡 Knowing that this is not the first time this has happened to me in the PLS aisles, perhaps the teams should be reminded what the words rotation and expired mean in order to avoid this type of mishap for customers.

03/05/2026: A very disappointing review for a hotel claiming such a high standard. We were truly appalled by the state of the breakfast room: a blatant lack of cleanliness and no choice whatsoever, as the buffet was completely depleted. In fact, we were only given two coffees. This is incomprehensible at this price point. As for the broken-down banquettes in the brasserie... Beyond that, the problem clearly stems from a lack of management. The staff seems disorganized, disconnected, and without any training or supervision, and this is strongly reflected in the overall quality of service. The maintenance of the common areas also leaves much to be desired: a quick look reveals a real lack of attention to detail. The spa and hallways, in particular, are covered in cobwebs, which is unacceptable for an establishment of this category. The showers don't work. While the location is historic and visually appealing, and the rooms are clean, that's simply the bare minimum for a hotel of this caliber. But this is not enough to compensate for the numerous existing shortcomings. There are hotels in the region that fully deserve their four stars. Here, the general impression is that the establishment is better suited to seminars or corporate conventions, with a clearly neglected individual guest experience. A thorough reassessment of management and service standards seems essential. It is clear that the quality-to-price ratio is absolutely inadequate.

25/10/2025: Respectful welcome, unfortunately hygiene is not up to scratch: old chemical meat, lots of charred meat crust, tired fries, dirty toilet. Big health risk if hygiene is not strictly applied. A big spit of chemical meat from the day before was lying on the tap near the counter (to collect the meat?). Disgusting. It's smoking in front of the entrance, it's scary. People watch Indo-Pakistani films without stressing about cleaning. Hygiene needs to be fixed quickly. Very dirty snack bar. Too much neglect. Smell. Danger.... The bins are full to bursting, it's overflowing but it's not emptied... Dangerous...

Thank you to the manager, Aurélien, for advising us on such a wide variety of choices! We had a fantastic time; the atmosphere was amazing! We'll definitely be back to spend even more!

14/03/2026: What a find!!! We ordered pizzas for a get-together that went on for ages, catering to everyone's very diverse tastes. First of all, everyone found something they liked. And when the order arrived, what a surprise! A perfectly thin crust and high-quality, generous amounts of toppings. The delivery was absolutely top-notch. They even asked for hot sauce, a lollipop for my granddaughter, or other children! But back to the pizzas: delicious and perfectly cooked, both the crust and the toppings. It was truly our first time ordering from them, and we loved it. And in terms of value for money, honestly, ditch the frozen pizzas! Thank you for your attention to detail and professionalism. You've gained some new customers.
