La Pente a Jules

Magland
12/04/2026: Great place to finish the day listening to live music and drinking local beers and wines. Sufficient space for a table or a deck chair to enjoy the afternoon sunshine. Queue was slightly long for the bar but it is to be expected with a popular place like this, which there are not many of in Flaine.
11/04/2026: For a touristy spot right on the ski slopes, the food is consistently excellent and beautifully presented. The welcome is very warm. It's our favorite restaurant in the Grand Massif.

La Moraine

Chamonix-Mont-Blanc
15/05/2026: A delight! From the moment we arrived at the restaurant, we knew we were in for a treat. The welcome from the entire team was warm and friendly. We shared a fondue for two with charcuterie and potatoes, and the portion was very generous. Even though we have big appetites, we struggled to finish it! The meal was delicious. A waiter happened to walk by and offered to take our picture; we truly felt at home. I highly recommend everyone stop by for a fondue!

L'alpage de Seraussaix

27/03/2026: Excellent value for money, with a delicious cheese board and a wonderfully comforting hot chocolate. I highly recommend it!
22/03/2026: It absolutely astounds me to see the awful videos and photos of these poor cows imprisoned in stalls and allowed no movement whatsoever, yet people ❤️ & like them! Perhaps the ❤️’s & Likers should spend the winter season with that nasty metal frame around their neck while chained to guarantee no movement. And yes I know this is due to snow outside & the cows can’t graze. No need to keep them locked up like that though, how about a barn they could at least move around in???? Response to reply below. I was giving 1 star to the way the cows are tethered up in those metal neck harnesses. I’ve now upped it to 3 in response to your comment. I know a fair bit about how farming works, grew up in Cornwall and had a lot to do with farms, mostly dairy. As for giving 1 star I give what I feel, you can see my reviews and I’ve never seen a business promoting itself with photos & videos of cows locked up like this, so I haven’t given any other mountain farms 1 star, yet. Where I grew up the cows were not locked up like this! I know this is common practice in these environments but it doesn’t have to be. You point out they are outside May-October so that’s 6 months chained up like the photo & video then, unless I am missing something. As for the excuse why they can’t move around, you’ve answered it yourself, “cost of the buildings” so the cows endure 6 months locked up like this so the costs are kept down, exactly my point. But as I wrote, I have upped the stars. I hope you can take on board that these cows are living creatures, have done no wrong but the system feels it is perfectly acceptable to imprison them like this……. To save money🤐

Auberge du Marmiton restaurant

Dingy-Saint-Clair
17/01/2026: Passing through the area, we stopped for dinner at the inn. We ordered two chicken escalopes with Reblochon cheese and fries, two Monaco chocolates, and a crème brûlée. The escalopes were very tender, the Reblochon sauce was full of flavor, and dipping the fries in it was a real treat. The crème brûlée was light, perfect for finishing the meal without feeling heavy. The manager is welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Thank you for this delicious meal, all the best! 😌

03/06/2026: A truly excellent restaurant! Everything was delicious from start to finish. The perch fillet with tartar sauce was perfectly cooked, the tuna tataki melted in your mouth and bursting with flavor, and the poached egg with mushrooms was a real treat. The dishes are beautifully presented, the ingredients seem fresh, and the service is pleasant. You can tell the food is prepared with care. We had a wonderful time and will gladly return. Highly recommended!

Les cornettes de bise

La Chapelle-D'Abondance
20/04/2026: Hello everyone, Today, I decided to share my story and my adventure with you, which almost ended in tragedy. I had a real brush with death climbing the summit of Les Cornettes de Bise without any equipment. My cousin and I started the ascent around 5 p.m. I had never climbed a mountain before, no experience whatsoever… but I'm a very adventurous person and I'm not afraid. I had already risked my life crossing the sea in a wooden boat for 25 hours between Africa and Europe. So we decided to attempt this climb. At first, it was easy, then normal… but the nightmare began around 1800 meters. The section of earth and grass ended, and what followed was nothing but a huge white rock. We started climbing using the cracks… At 2,000 meters, exhausted, something happened that could have been my last moment. We reached a section where there was only one option: to climb a large, oval boulder. Trying to ascend, I found myself dangling in mid-air. Behind me was nothingness—a fall meant instant death. The worst part was that I couldn't see what was above the boulder. I was pressed against it, my feet and hands in precarious positions. And then, a cramp in my right leg… my other leg trembled with exhaustion. Only my hands were holding me up. In an almost instinctive movement, I reached up with one hand… and miraculously, I found a hold. Then, I managed to place my foot where my hand had been. I barely survived. We continued climbing… then a second nightmare. We were climbing by crawling, lying completely flat on our stomachs, clinging to the grass. At one point, I leaned with all my might on a clump of grass… which ripped away. I started sliding down like on a toboggan, on my stomach. My body was scraped raw—arms, legs, stomach… I struggled to grab onto something. And luckily, I managed to grab a rock behind me. Once again, I escaped death. At that moment, I felt deep regret. I thought of my mother, my sisters, my father… I told myself: “What I’m doing isn’t worth my life. I’m making a huge mistake.” But we kept going. My cousin is experienced, so it was easier for him. Around midnight, we reached the summit. It was bitterly cold, and we were only wearing short-sleeved t-shirts and shorts, in total darkness. We decided to call for help. It was the only option. Luckily, they answered, and an hour later, a helicopter arrived. It landed right at the summit, with extremely powerful gusts of wind—it was impressive and dangerous. They hoisted us aboard one by one, then brought us back down safely. I will never forget what France did for us that day. Immense respect and gratitude to the rescue teams and the helicopter crew. You are true heroes. The scenery was breathtaking… magnificent nature. We saw the sunset, a huge lake, and all the surrounding towns like Thonon-les-Bains and Lausanne. At night, it was even more magical: all the city lights below, and us above it all… a sight I will never forget. This experience will stay with me forever. 2880m
