21/03/2026: Delicious and a huge quantity for the price

29/06/2026: Arriving from Paris on Friday, June 26th and Monday, June 29th, we received a wonderfully warm welcome and, above all, the food was excellent, hence our second visit, which was truly remarkable! A restaurant to try again and again! The waitresses and the manager were kind and professional!

27/05/2026: Life led us to this place before our sister's funeral. A no-frills, authentic restaurant (we loved it!), generous and delicious home-style cooking, smiles, sharing, a wonderful welcome, very professional yet unpretentious. This delightful moment for our taste buds and our hearts showed us that humanity still exists. 🥰

20/05/2026: I knew this restaurant from having lunch there a few years ago; the portions were generous, and the pizzas were good. Today, that's no longer the case. We ordered a sharing platter of baby squid, and we received six lukewarm and bland pieces. Then we ordered two salads with burrata, which were sparsely garnished (two lettuce leaves and five strips of marinated zucchini). We had to ask for the pesto, which was missing! And we were given a "ladleful" of pesto on our two meager salads... We watched the pizzas go by; they were sparsely topped, visibly smaller than expected, and the crust wasn't cooked. The servers were quite friendly, but there's definitely a staffing problem in the kitchen. In short, we won't be going back anytime soon.

07/07/2026: A really nice spot right on the oceanfront. In the height of summer, it must be packed! You can eat at a counter overlooking the sea. It's simply fantastic! The welcome is very warm and the staff are super friendly. The food is simple and delicious; they even have hamburgers for those who love them! Tapas too... The Eguzki beer is amazing... No wonder, it's a Basque beer... It's accessible for people with reduced mobility. And on top of that, there's music and a great atmosphere! The prices are very reasonable. So, I definitely recommend "Le Bistro du Mata" if you're looking for a nice place to have lunch while taking the time to unwind in an idyllic setting.

06/07/2026: Fantastic location, free parking just steps away, incredible sea view. But what really impressed us was the service and the kindness of all the staff towards both humans and our four-legged companions. What a pleasure! Well done to the whole team, and don't change a thing. The food is just as good, by the way. Highly recommended!

18/04/2026: Hello, I don't usually write this type of review, but I was disappointed with this establishment. I contacted them but received no response, so I wanted to share my experience. First, I want to clarify that this message is intended to be constructive and help improve the experience for future guests. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with our stay, especially compared to the expectations associated with your establishment's 5-star rating. Regarding the overwater bungalow: • The size and layout did not match the photos on Booking and other platforms. We had a bungalow of approximately 20 square meters, without a lounge area, which was less comfortable than we had imagined. • The sloping floor was difficult to live in, and a constant noise, probably from the pump, disturbed our stay despite our complaints. • The finishing touches in the suite were disappointing: damaged and torn curtains, a poorly attached toilet paper holder, no way to play music, a telephone not fixed to the wall, and marks and imperfections on the walls and paint. These details give an overall impression of lower quality than one would expect from a 5-star hotel. Regarding the spa: • Upon arrival, we waited 10 minutes without being greeted. • Bathrobes and towels were neither available nor neatly arranged, which created confusion regarding seating. We therefore shared a lounge chair, and no drinks were offered. • The spa did not match the images: no hammam, only a small sauna, and the showers showed signs of mold. The slippers appeared to be reused, which was neither pleasant nor hygienic. Regarding breakfast: • Arriving at 10:00 AM, several items were missing. For €36, the service seemed somewhat out of step with what is offered on-site. Other points: • I noticed on resale sites that some prices were lower than those offered directly by the hotel, with additional services included. When I mentioned this, the response was that it was due to supply and demand. It remains surprising, especially for 5-star establishments, that third parties can offer a lower price than the hotel. Positive points: • The staff who took us to the boat were very friendly and welcoming. • The sommelier was pleasant and attentive. In summary, our overall experience did not live up to our expectations for a 5-star stay, and I was quite disappointed. However, I hope that this feedback will be taken constructively to improve services and the satisfaction of future guests. 18/04/2026: Wedding reception for a friend; the food was excellent, and the service was top-notch! I highly recommend it.

12/04/2026: Last night we came to eat with friends, we had a wonderful meal, special mention for the perfectly cooked scallops. My husband had a burger (he was eagerly awaiting my return). Time flew by, we had a fantastic evening, and as a bonus, the chef came to see us, we were able to congratulate him and chat about his cooking. We'll definitely be back!
