17/03/2026: We spent one night at the Hôtel L’Ermitage, and frankly, the current 3.9/5 rating on Google doesn't reflect our experience. We had booked the Belvédère room, which offers an absolutely incredible view of the Monts d’Or and Lyon. The setting is calm, peaceful, and truly magnificent—a real haven of tranquility. Upon arrival, we had a drink on the restaurant terrace, bathed in sunshine: a very pleasant way to start our stay. We then had the relaxation area to ourselves, allowing us to truly unwind, exactly what we were looking for. In the evening, we dined at the hotel restaurant: excellent cuisine, discreet and pleasant service. We had a wonderful evening. The next morning, breakfast was a very pleasant surprise: a well-organized buffet with a high-quality savory selection (which is quite rare and worth mentioning), featuring organic and seasonal products. The desserts were also excellent: pastries, delicious bread, praline brioche, organic products, and a superb homemade pear compote. We were able to enjoy the relaxation area one last time before our departure. The early check-out before noon is a real plus, allowing you to fully enjoy the morning. Of course, having a professional eye for the restaurant industry ourselves, we noticed a few imperfections, particularly regarding the cleanliness of the relaxation area (chewing gum and hair were found on the edge of the jacuzzi upon our arrival, and these hadn't been cleaned up by our departure). The facilities also show some signs of age. However, this didn't spoil our stay in any way. The staff was lovely from beginning to end, and the overall experience remains very positive. We loved our stay, so kudos to the team, and we will most likely be back next month.
14/03/2026: Quite disappointed by this otherwise well-known hotel. The reception wasn't very welcoming; the person was on the phone for at least five minutes without telling us they'd be there in a few minutes. The room was nice enough, but the floor wasn't clean, there was only one large towel for two people, and no phone to contact reception. The pool is tiny, with just two sun loungers practically next to each other, water everywhere, and no one to even mop it up. The spa was very nice! Breakfast was very good with a magnificent view, but forget about a friendly welcome and a smile from the staff—they must not be paid for that! Would I recommend it? No! There are so many better options elsewhere for the same price.

19/05/2026: The hotel wasn't clean, the staff, though somewhat helpful, looked worse for wear. The owner was grumpy and now I am about to engage in a payment dispute as he charged me on top of (crappy) Booking.com. Such a shame as the location is perfect and my room had a nice view of the gorge. This place could be quite special if there was some tender loving care. Really annoyed at the payment shenanigans.
17/05/2026: Fantastic stay at Hotel Le Belvédère, the staff are amazing! The hotel is in a great location, with a lovely view. A real bonus is the quiet, heated pool – very relaxing. Thanks again!

24/04/2026: I arrived at the restaurant and noticed that the bread wasn't homemade like in the photos they use to impress you. Looking at the flatbreads that were served, I realized they were prioritizing quantity over quality.

22/05/2026: Upon arrival, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned... Immediate room change! No discount, not even a gesture of goodwill, no complimentary drinks or aperitif! We ordered at the bar, waited patiently because no one was there, and even had to clear our own table while they found a waitress... Furthermore, we had booked two rooms but only one was upgraded, which was nice, but not mine. Two upgrades would have been better than none at all...
19/04/2026: Visited hotel with a tourist group from Slovenia and we were satisfied with everything - rooms are big, modern, clean and cosy, breakfast is very diverse (...it would be nice if they had more of fresh vegetables) and good (loved the bread and cheese selection), parking space was enough for 55 seater. I highly recommend.

12/05/2026: Hello, we arrived at 12:00 PM and paid at 2:30 PM. Our order was taken 30 minutes later. We were served 30 minutes after ordering. At 1:30 PM, we finished eating, and the waitress asked us if we wanted bread, even though our bread basket was full! I told her we wanted dessert instead, and the waitress went to clear the tables. We finally managed to order dessert, and the three desserts arrived; it was another table's order. We ordered two coffees three times, and they arrived 30 minutes later. We paid, and the waitress offered us the coffees. Two and a half hours to eat is a long time. We were at one of the first tables and were served last. All the other tables were served before us. Conclusion: The staff is not trained in restaurant service. Lack of organization; the waitresses don't prioritize customers still seated at their tables, but rather setting tables and clearing dishes to the kitchen. This brasserie has great potential, but the waitresses need training and the chef needs improvement in food preparation. I've eaten at this brasserie several times, but I've noticed a lack of attention to detail. The waitresses shouldn't be rude to customers when they express their impatience. Organize yourselves better; a customer shouldn't wait more than 10 minutes between arrival and having their order taken, and respect the order of orders, and you'll have everything under control. My comments are intended to be constructive. Because I have great respect for your profession, which was also mine at one time. Best of luck and Have a good day.

We received a very warm welcome from the manager, Marielle, who went out of her way to ensure we could all be together and celebrate in good conditions. Thank you to her for her patience with the children. Thanks also to the restaurant staff, who found it quite a challenge to keep up with our orders. We highly recommend this very peaceful campsite (when we're not there 🤣).

28/11/2025: This place is filthy, the meat is plastic-tasting, and the fries are frozen and bought from the supermarket, which they then resell at exorbitant prices. Not to mention the unbearable owner, her lack of professionalism, and the unsanitary conditions—you wouldn't be surprised to find yourself sharing fries with a cockroach. Even the public restrooms at the Carrefour supermarket are more hygienic and pleasant than this restaurant. For the bravest among you, who don't mind poor hygiene and have plenty of money to spend on substandard food, I highly recommend it. For those of you with a bit more civility, I suggest you travel a few extra kilometers and eat somewhere more suitable for a proper restaurant. Sincerely.

02/04/2026: Having arrived in Vallet in 2011, this kebab shop was one of the best I'd ever eaten. The owner used to bake the bread right in front of us, the sauces were homemade and amazing, and the kebab meat was tender and incredibly delicious. In short, the sale of this kebab shop has been a huge loss for Vallet. Now it's all frozen, rushed, overcooked meat, and everything is frozen... The prices have gone up for a drop in quality... and there's no longer even access to the upstairs toilets. Nothing is right.
31/03/2026: We've been coming here for years, and it's getting worse and worse. We ordered three tacos with cheddar cheese, and we're still looking for it… The fries that were supposed to be forgotten were given to us, and when we got home, we found samurai sauce on them. We had asked for mayo. We're going somewhere else.

20/04/2026: I want to warn future travelers about the practices of this establishment, especially those who like to plan their trips in advance. I booked and paid back in March for a stay in July (5-star hotel). Less than two months before my arrival, my reservation was abruptly canceled through Booking.com without any clear explanation. After contacting the hotel, management confirmed that they practice priority booking. In short: if a company wants to book the entire hotel, your reservation (even if paid in advance) is simply canceled to make room for them. Management fully acknowledges this policy, stating that it happens regularly in June and July. Particularly disappointing aspects for a 5-star hotel: Differential treatment: The hotel doesn't bother to contact customers directly who book through online booking platforms, relying instead on an automated email. Complete uncertainty: Even with full payment made months in advance, you have no guarantee of staying at the hotel if a larger client shows up. Short notice: Being notified less than two months beforehand during peak summer season makes finding an alternative of equivalent standard very complicated and expensive. If you are planning an important event (wedding, birthday, honeymoon), I advise against this hotel: you are not immune to last-minute cancellations depending on their "private" bookings.

09/03/2026: Disappointing, had to wait over an hour before food was available. In the meantime our table was reserved for those who had pre booked their food for later in the evening. Their were, as we saw when we were leaving, other tables where we could have eaten outside the designated eating area. It is not a genuine Irish bar but a "canned" version for tourists. This was evident as the TV was used by the disco and the games and darts machines were switched off fr the disco also on a night when Ireland were playing rugby in the six nations. We went to a lovely restaurant across the square and then returned to a genuine Irish bar two doors up from the Shamrock to drink Guinness and enjoy the rugby on their TV.
16/02/2026: There was a karaoke night. It's a family-friendly karaoke place, and I went with my three-year-old daughter—it was my choice, she's my daughter. She was sitting quietly drinking her Coke when a fight broke out. I grabbed her to protect her from getting hit, and the bar manager had the nerve to call me a bad mother and tell me my daughter shouldn't be there, even though she just loves to sing. They'd heard her sing more than once, by the way. So, don't go there with your children, as they're frowned upon. On what's supposed to be a fun night, some people with bad intentions drink too much, and they practically blame it on my child being there—unbelievable! I'm a regular, and I'm very disappointed by this behavior.

23/02/2026: We stopped off the N10 for lunch on our way to Bordeaux. We were warmly welcomed with our dog. The meal was very good, both the main course and dessert. Good value for money. €47 for two, including beer and coffee.
