15/12/2024: No trip to Megève is complete for us without an evening at the Refuge du Calvaire. This is our ‘go to’ place for fondue and raclette. On our recent visit however we chose to have steaks and both the Chateaubriand filet and the Argentine Angus were superb. Desserts were delicious, especially the Crepe Suzette which was prepared at the table with all due drama. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal and the welcome is genuine. A firm favourite of visitors and locals alike.

13/12/2024: No trip to Megève is complete for us without an evening spent at the Refuge du Calvaire. The welcome is warm and the restaurant is a favourite of visitors and locals alike. (Our fellow diners consisted of a large table of local mountain guides on a ‘works’ night out!) The fondue, raclette and other local dishes are delicious. Last evening, however, we chose to have steaks and both the ‘Chateaubriand’ filet and Argentine Angus were excellent. Desserts were amazing especially the Crèpe Suzette which was prepared with all due drama at the table. We eat at this restaurant regularly and recommend it highly.

14/12/2024: I ordered pizza medium, small size, and zero coke. It cost 23 euros and the interior was quite cozy. The price is okay, the taste is good, and the appearance is good~

26/09/2024: Small restaurant, very simple in appearance but impeccable pizza (the Boursin with pepper a treat) and the tiramisu a delight

16/01/2025: A customer for 20 years, I have always really appreciated this place, with of course ups and downs. But since the takeover by David Lloyd, the pricing policy has become very aggressive, over the last 6 years I have suffered an increase of 67%, including 13% for 2025. The pricing policy is absolutely not transparent, it you just need to discuss it with other customers to see it, despite similar profiles. Loyalty is not rewarded, there is no long-term vision... David Lloyd justifies himself by the work undertaken, but not all of it was necessary and for some it is worse than before. I'm thinking of the changing rooms, where it's cold in winter and at certain times it's a real station hall, plus the sauna has disappeared (you have to pay extra to have access to it, another 20% more). A course very popular for its fun side, using our cognitive skills (memory, coordination) has also disappeared, even though it had good attendance. I'm talking about one course, out of the hundred there are in the week. You systematically ask us for our opinion, but don't really take it into account. Yes, there are pleasant and positive points, but here I am a little revolted and above all I wonder how long these increases will continue, when personally I have nothing more... Sincerely

14/01/2025: Every year, the subscription price increases. without specifying the reasons. Promises that there will be work done for the fitness room, still no nails driven for a while, part of the floor is very damaged at the level of the dumbbells, you just need to put the dumbbells on the ground, there are a lot dust that comes out, even linoleum is removed. Far too many members quite often during peak hours, no benches available. Bodybuilding side too small. Every day, the number of members increases, but at the gym level, nothing changes, sometimes we have to wait. I thought I heard that the machines had to be replaced every 5 or 6 years, still nothing. We can increase a price but you must have valid reasons, we will increase your subscription without telling you why or how. Floor deform impossible to use

08/07/2025: Really disappointed with our meal. A very long wait of 1 hour and 45 minutes before we got everything we ordered! The food wasn't bad, but we didn't get the taste of Indian cuisine. The chicken was dry, and we found a piece of plastic in it. We ordered two naans: one with cheese, which we never got, and one with cashew nuts and raisins, which turned out to be fig naans! And the cherry on top, when it came time to pay, the waitress charged us €101; after checking, our bill actually came to €65. She barely apologized. In short, move on...

08/07/2025: A wonderful experience. Warm welcome and delicious food. We tried both meat and vegetarian dishes. Everything was delicious. And refreshing homemade ice cream. The staff was attentive.

24/11/2024: Hygiene to review.. (Take note of the pizza making plan.. the young girl's hair going into the flour.. not great) (blackened sponge to clean the tables..) (the cook who stays at the bar between orders.. ) The strong smell of fried food that followed us throughout our stay.. and PMU atmosphere of the village.. we absolutely do not recommend. The price is high for the quality of the dish, the service and the atmosphere

08/09/2024: Shocking restaurant. Food below average and the owner is rude and ignorant. How he works in hospitality is beyond us. Not a nice person at all. Best advice would be to walk straight past. There are plenty of fabulous restaurants nearby with a far better attitude to paying customers. Needless to say no tip was left.

07/09/2024: We went there around 3 pm and were just looking for a kid pizza for my daughter and a cappuccino for myself. The waitress didn’t quite seem to like it that we didn’t place a bigger order. She took our order. After a minute or so she came back and quite sternly asked me to remove my personal water bottle from the table as it was “against restaurant’s policy”. It was a standard 500ml water bottle. We asked her to not bother our order then and that we can go somewhere else. I came out and too a picture of the restaurant, so I could record the restaurant name. It was then, the restaurant owner came charging towards me with a clear intent to intimidate me. He brought along the same waitress to help translate between French and English. He asked me how dare I take a photo of his restaurant. I told him this is so I leave a review of my experience. He said few things in French and continued to try to physically intimidate me with his body language; as if he is going to strike me at any moment. My daughter and I just walked away. The owner is clearly a goon.

02/11/2024: For the quality and standard of the restaurant, the waiter made no effort to speak French, we were forced to order in English. The duck, which is the signature dish, is disappointing with an industrial sauce… the rest is flawless…

02/11/2024: Almost an hour of waiting just to get the aperitif, 20 minutes of waiting between courses, dishes quite good but a little expensive. Menu in English, service in English.

01/12/2024: Très belle table. Le chef a su proposé des plats savoureux qui ont été parfaitement accordés avec les vins proposés dans l'accord mets vins. On y reviendra avec plaisir.

We were looking for a restaurant that was a little different from what we usually know and we were pleasantly surprised: impeccable service, sophisticated and exquisite dishes. We didn't know the dishes in advance and yet everything was excellent. A beautiful address where we will definitely return.

15/08/2024: Very nice restaurant with a superb view. A great welcome, perfect service and delicious dishes. What more could you ask for...... I recommend this place with my eyes closed. Don't hesitate to stop there when returning from a walk.

12/08/2024: I was in this place just to have a coffee (and a croissant at the same time). I was very satisfied: the staff is very friendly and the terrace overlooks the Mon Blanc. The establishment is located in the center of the village.

27/06/2025: Very disappointed with the coffee...Not cheap and the preservation left something to be desired, the beans were completely oxidized.

24/06/2025: The tiramisus, the Black Forest slices, the truffle... the multigrain baguettes, the Super Good chocolate bread... it's a shame we couldn't taste everything because the window display is very very beautiful and the products we ate were amazing. Thank you :-)
