We ordered calamari and fries and it tasted like it came from a freezer bag with a bland not great taste. :/ we were disappointed with the quality of food and would not recommend this restaurant. It was a clean restaurant and staff were kind but poor food quality for me. Pasta was sticked together like over boiled more creamy than flavour, chips was oily

14/07/2026: Very friendly welcome. Good selection of cocktails for aperitifs. I was only moderately impressed with the pizza; the crust was a bit soggy and burnt in places. However, the quality of the ingredients was good. The pasta was good. Nice outdoor terrace. Updated 2023.

22/06/2026: We're regulars. We're never disappointed. The menu is updated regularly. The portions are generous. Home-style brasserie cuisine with good ingredients, and the staff is lovely. Excellent value for money.

The order confirmation said four meals, but they only included four fries. You can't just send it out for delivery thinking it'll go through...

18/06/2026: Second visit to Bagelstein this Saturday, July 26th, and still that strange feeling… like I'd landed in a 90s American sitcom, somewhere between Central Perk and a vintage New York deli. The decor is a gem of nostalgia: walls covered in quirky photos, humorous signs, newspaper clippings, and retro-style air conditioning that makes you feel like it's about to crack a joke or offer you an old-fashioned coffee. It's like traveling back in time without leaving Strasbourg. The staff is smiling and welcoming. In short, not robots, which is refreshing. There were three of us, and we ordered three meal deals with drinks and sides. The bagels offer a wide selection of breads (whole wheat, plain, onion & sweet pepper, sesame toast… and probably others I missed while drooling over the counter). You can create your own bagel like an inspired artist… or choose a pre-made recipe like a tired tourist. On the dessert and drink front, there's cheesecake, muffins, cakes, cookies… plenty to choose from, and a good selection of drinks too (if you're looking for something other than depressing plain water). They say it's all homemade, and it certainly tastes good, so we're inclined to believe them. Special mention goes to the overall atmosphere, which is really well done and makes you want to linger a bit (and take pictures of everything). I haven't tried their mac & cheese yet, but it's on my top to-do list, right after "pay my taxes" and "become a better person." In short, a great place to eat quickly, well, and with a smile… all while getting a little taste of America (without the guns or the dollar bills).

27/07/2026: Disappointing. That's the word that comes to mind to describe our experience. Deplorable is the word to describe the service. Apparently, ordering three beers and a baked Camembert is enough to irritate the waiter 🤷‍♀️. Complete indifference, bordering on insolence, when we pointed out that the baked Camembert was simply warm and cubed instead of melted. Spoiler alert: it was bad. The Troll has changed its atmosphere since the new owner took over. And it's such a shame because this pub has potential, but this behavior completely ruins the experience. Keep walking; there are other bars that serve good beers without treating you with contempt.

25/07/2026: My partner and I regularly visit La Rochelle and have walked past this pub several times. It caught our eye with its selection of beers (we're beer enthusiasts). We received a very warm welcome, with excellent beer recommendations, and they even let us taste before we ordered. The beer platter was fantastic value for money 👌 – so far, the best we've had in La Rochelle in a long time. We highly recommend this place!

12/07/2026: We wanted to try this bar because of its history and because we found it online. The bar is very charming and unique; it has retained its original character. The service is good and quick. We ordered three cocktails. At first, we were a little surprised by the color, the size, but especially the prices of the cocktails… In the end, they're not stingy with the alcohol at all, which more than justifies the price of the cocktails, which are also really very good! Much better value in the end. We recommend it.

We enjoyed our first evening so much that we came back the very next day! The four Beaujolais wines that left you a bottle 😉

28/06/2026: A truly wonderful experience. A very warm welcome, fresh ingredients, and dishes prepared to order. I came for the calf's head with gribiche sauce, which was absolutely delicious. Attentive and highly professional service. Approximately 42 euros per person for a complete three-course meal (starter, main course, dessert) and a glass of wine.
