30/09/2025: Good atmosphere, no fuss The dishes are very good, with meats cooked on the brazier in front of you.

17/10/2025: The tents were basic, and since it was the end of the season, the food was limited. Clothes got damp. Drying facilities were limited to dryers, and there were no rooms. Wi-Fi was only available in the common room.

03/10/2025: We have visited every year in a campervan for more than 10 years and the campsite is consistently welcoming and good value for money. You can pick your own secluded pitch and the toilets, showers and washing up areas are clean but you need to bring your own toilet paper. Plenty of trees, red squirrels and birds. Often a large group of youngsters at the surf camp on site, but they are friendly and no trouble. The walk to the beach has been refurbished this year and it has injected a new lease of life into the area. The beach is gorgeous however, the sea is really not suitable for children with huge crashing waves, strong currents and a steep shelf.

12/04/2026: Honestly, it's good in a way... there are fewer and fewer oversights, which is cool... However, excuse me for complaining, but... it would be great if the person who gives us our takeout orders, to be precise, the person who was there today, April 12th, around 6:50-7:00 PM... It would be really great if this person STOPPED putting their fingers in their mouth before handing over the bags 😡... biting their nails, picking at their cuticles, or whatever 😡 it's really disgusting 😡 great hygiene 😬 in front of the customers, no less 🙄

30/03/2026: The young man at the drive-thru was very friendly and energetic; the order was ready very quickly and piping hot!

25/03/2026: Arrived at this McDonald's at 7:30 PM, placed my order at the kiosk, it's 8:10 PM and still nothing! Priority is given to the drive-thru and takeout. Poor management...

24/04/2026: Honestly, the McDonald's in Meximieux is fantastic! The staff is always welcoming and friendly, the service is quick, and orders are always perfectly executed. It's clean and pleasant, making you want to come back. I have absolutely no complaints and highly recommend it!

07/04/2026: I was on vacation and bought a birthday cake and two loaves of bread to make sandwiches. The cake was amazing 🙌 and the bread... I don't know if it was the route we took or the bread itself, haha, but they turned out to be some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Thanks!

05/12/2025: Dinner was good. Breakfast was poor (no eggs, no cold cuts). Room was outdated.

10/10/2025: The rooms are quite worn out. The air conditioning doesn't work. The bathroom isn't really clean either. The hotel service is very poor. The staff is very unfriendly. If you have a complaint, they can only speak French, even though they used to speak English. The hotel smells musty. Unfortunately, we paid in advance. If I had said I'd pay tomorrow, I wouldn't have. We booked through Expedia and filed a complaint, but it's been going on for three weeks, so I'm definitely not happy with Expedia either. They need to do one thing with this hotel, and that's close it. You wouldn't want to be found dead in this hotel. If you're looking for a hotel, don't choose this one; please look elsewhere. This hotel doesn't deserve any more guests. And as you can see in the hotel's comment below, if I expect anything... We're renovating. It's a shame I don't have any photos. But whoever checks the rooms regularly does this person with their eyes closed. The air conditioning will be checked once a year because several guests are complaining about it. It didn't work. We tried to find a solution on the spot, but they were unwilling to do anything, and management was impossible to reach. It was just a disgusting room. Ugh. The inspectors should definitely visit. So, if you're looking for a hotel, please look elsewhere. You'll regret this hotel. Don't be tempted by the pool because it's freezing. And great, if they ask for payment, say you'll do it in the morning because then you'll have seen how terrible the hotel is, and you can refuse to pay. And the sad thing is, Expedia doesn't do anything about this complaint either. They say they'll get back to you, but you never hear anything back. We contacted them three times, and it's now been three months and we haven't heard anything.

29/08/2025: We came for lunch with the family. We were seated and asked to be moved because there was a draft, which we noticed was bothersome. The lady who was looking after us looked everywhere to find us a table as if it were crowded, even though there were only two other customers in the entire restaurant. Once we were seated, the knives were disgusting because dirty isn't enough, and the glasses were covered in fingerprints. We asked for a carafe of water, and that was another look that spoke volumes. For our meal, we specifically asked for an Alsatian salad without Gruyere cheese; it was brought to us with Gruyere cheese (thawed). The other salads had such strong seasoning that every bite felt like we were eating spicy candy. For the price we paid, I find what we had on our plates shameful. Once we were served, the same woman sat down at a table to roll a cigarette. Everyone was free, but I didn't find it great. In short, a very bad experience, a place I would never recommend.

12/12/2025: Positives: The staff were polite and respectful throughout my stay. Location: The neighbourhood is challenging. The area has heavy cyclist traffic with limited regard for pedestrians, and the general atmosphere feels unsafe, particularly after dark. Room Quality: The rooms are extremely small. There is insufficient floor space to open a suitcase, leaving the bed as the only practical option. The walls are very thin. I could clearly hear conversations and showers from neighbouring rooms starting at 6am. Additionally, every time water was used in adjacent rooms or upstairs, the plumbing generated loud pressure noises throughout the night. Bathroom: The bathroom is cramped and uncomfortable for anyone over 6ft tall. There is no counter space or shelving for toiletries, not even basic items beyond a toothbrush and toothpaste. Other Issues: • Wardrobe space is minimal and impractical • The television has poor sound quality and several non-functioning channels • No air conditioning. Even in winter, the heating made the room uncomfortably warm • Opening the window (which faces an interior courtyard) resulted in cigarette smoke entering the room • The mattress is quite firm • Bed linen doesn’t stay properly fitted to the mattress • Cleanliness is adequate but not exceptional • The hotel still uses physical keys that must be left at reception when leaving the property Value: The price point does not reflect the quality of the accommodation. The hotel appears to rely on guests needing a single night’s stay near Gare de l’Est with no intention of returning. Conclusion: I checked out early and booked alternative accommodation directly opposite Gare de l’Est. The price difference was worth avoiding the continued discomfort. I do not recommend Est Hotel. There are better options available in the area.
