21/07/2024: Cela fait maintenant plusieurs années que nous nous rendons "Chez Max" chaque fois que nous sommes en Champagne. Accueil toujours aussi chaleureux par Monsieur. Service aux petits soins. Cuisine traditionnelle de grande qualité. Produits frais joliment préparés. Bon rapport qualité/prix. A la prochaine....nous reviendrons !

19/07/2024: Je komt hier niet bij toeval terecht. Hoewel op loopafstand van centrum van Épernay, ligt het restaurantje een beetje uit de route. Ook de buitenkant wekt niet de indruk dat je hier binnengaat in een prima restaurant met traditioneel Franse keuken met veel liefde voor het vak. Wij komen om 19 uur als eersten binnen in restaurant en worden vriendelijk verwelkomd door eigenaar Max. Binnen een half uur zitten beide verdiepingen van het restaurant echter vol. Kaart met traditioneel Franse gerechten. De, door Max aan tafel bereidde, steak tartare is een aanrader (en populair). Prima prijs-/kwaliteitverhouding.

02/09/2025: So, where to begin... We ordered a burrito, a "salad," and nachos from Deliveroo. - First, the salad: a complete joke, if not outright false advertising! I've attached a photo of the salad Fresh Burritos advertises on their website versus the salad I received 😉 It's a disgrace. The salad is supposed to be in a crispy wheat tortilla, but there was nothing of the sort. €10.50 for a measly little salad that I could have made myself. - The burrito: once the packaging was removed, the sauce leaked everywhere, and the burrito was cold! We had to eat it on a plate, with cutlery (goodbye Mexico 👋). - The nachos: €3.50 a bag with a measly 10 chips, and of course, the sauces were miraculously omitted 🤷 To top it all off, the restaurant is unreachable. Yet another franchise hiding behind a terrible customer service line. First and last time for us ✌️

20/09/2024: Nous avons vraiment été séduits par cet endroit, tant par le cadre charmant, en bord de nive, que par l’accueil chaleureux des patrons. Sans oublier évidemment les plats délicieux avec une cuisine maison et des produits frais. Une super adresse à Bayonne, nous y reviendrons avec plaisir !

12/09/2024: We arrived full of optimism. The frites were ok - the steak, the duck, the weird prawn and cheese concoction were all inedible. BTW. sprinkling sesame seeds over congealed gravy does not elevate a dish. It just makes it look weird.

10/09/2024: Cadre chaleureux Service sympathique De la cuisine bistrot de très bon niveau, de la viande d’excellente qualité et un petit vin qui accompagne bien. Nous avons passé une excellente soirée

30/11/2024: Excellent restaurant idéalement situé au bord de la Sorgue, avec une agréable véranda le long de l’eau, cuisine raffinée et de qualité, nous avons d’ailleurs pu échanger quelques mots avec le chef au sujet de ses plats des plus goûteux, service impeccable, personnel très sympathique

27/09/2024: Très joli cadre ..que ce soit à l'extérieur ou à l'intérieur. Par contre le rapport qualité...prix concernant le menu à 48 euros est élevé...en effet nous avons été déçu des plats servis : La truite est vraiment petite Les girolles et cèpes servis avec le veau sont à chercher... Le cochon du Ventoux à la sauce au chorizo était fade...la cuisson était par contre parfaite... Les entrées (fois gras et sashimis) étaient bons. On avait demandé, lors de la commande, à remplacer l'accompagnement du plat par des frites, mais à l'arrivée de l'assiette, pas de changement. Après avoir fait remarquer au serveur cet oubli, il nous a été ramené une portion de frites. Surprise lors de l'addition de constater qu'elles avaient été comptées en supplément (5 euros). Pour un menu à 48 euros, cela fait un peu mesquin, d'autant plus que cela résulte d'une mauvaise communication entre la salle et la cuisine. Le baba au rhum est généreux. Nous sommes repartis avec un avis très mitigé sur ce repas.... Dommage.

09/07/2026: Finally, after months of closure, this beautiful place has come back to life, and that's wonderful! A new, motivated, and friendly team has taken over, and on the plate, the aroma, color, and flavor are all there, with simple yet delicious cuisine and, of course, very reasonable prices. It's worth noting that this establishment has chosen to promote products from the Basque Country, including alcoholic beverages, sodas, etc. Congratulations and best of luck to this young and dynamic new team!

07/07/2026: Successful reopening, friendly staff and delicious food, we had a wonderful time.

15/12/2024: Restaurant that you absolutely must discover. The dishes are excellent and the service impeccable. All products are fresh with a beautiful presentation. I would add that the pancakes served in the afternoon for young and old are delicious without forgetting the mulled wine to comfort the hikers after the tour of the lake.

04/12/2024: Perfection: pleasant but simple setting, relaxed but respectful welcome, refined but complete menu, simple but excellent products, careful cuisine but without unnecessary frills. Thank you for allowing us to escape burgers, pizzas and other fried steaks by offering us an Auvergne that is both modern and traditional.

12/12/2023: Merci beaucoup Estelle pour votre gentillesse rare. Je n'ai jamais rencontré un accueil si sympathique et professionnel. Boutique propre et bien ranger. Et la nourriture est de très bonne qualité, pour ne pas parler du café, que c'est comme en Italie. Un gros bravo à vous, je reviendrai avec plaisir.

22/09/2024: A dear friend of mine had highly recommended Le Bar à Vin. We attempted to go there twice. The first time, we thought they were closed because the corner looked like an entrance, and it was closed. I'd say that I'm not too with it, but the second time we went, the same thing happened to someone else. They really should have a sign pointing to the entrance, which is pretty nondescript. So, we finally make it in and there are two people ahead of us and the venue is not full. It took us over 40 minutes to get seated, by then, the line just continued to grow. There were only two ladies waiting on the entire venue. There was a lady at a counter for shipping wine orders and another man, maybe the manager, walking around from time to time. Without a doubt, they were understaffed, but honestly, if no one is buying or shipping wine and you're the manager, pitch in!! Our waitress was nice enough and shocked when we only stayed for one tasting. Clearly, it's a place where people go to linger, but it definitely, at least that day, is unable to accommodate its clientele. A bid disappointment especially since there are many other such venues to relax and enjoy in Bordeaux!

16/09/2024: We had high hopes for this cheese and wine tasting, especially after queuing for 20 minutes just to get in. The wait gave the impression we were in for something special, but unfortunately, it was quite the opposite. The main seating area looks charming enough, but we were led to what can only be described as a drab, old-school canteen setup. The chairs were incredibly uncomfortable, making it hard to settle in for what should have been a relaxing experience. Things went from bad to worse when we ordered. We were told they had run out of every cheese except goat’s cheese—which was ridiculous, given it was only 6:30pm and, more importantly, we were in France, the home of great cheese! How can a place hosting cheese tastings run out of cheese so early in the evening? To make matters worse, the wine menu didn’t offer any guidance on pairings. While our waitress was friendly and tried her best, it wasn’t enough to salvage the experience. The whole thing felt underwhelming and far from what we’d expected. To top it off, they served nutty bread without checking for allergies, which seemed careless, especially in this day and age. Overall, this tasting was absolutely not worth the visit. Save your time and money for somewhere more deserving.
