07/03/2026: We managed to book a private lunch for four on a Saturday, almost by accident, but what an experience! The food was simply wonderful, the dining room private (the owner opened just for us and called his staff back 😅), and the service impeccable, friendly, and attentive. A huge thank you for this marvelous moment, and yes, there are still some truly great restaurants out there at reasonable prices! I highly recommend it!

01/02/2026: We had a lovely evening. The menu is perfect for those with a hearty appetite, as it's quite generous. You won't find a menu with multiple sections listing different dishes. It's concise, which speaks volumes about the quality. The presentation of the dishes is elegant. The beef fillet was cooked to a perfect medium-rare. The scallops were a good size and delicious, and the portion was very generous. The wine list is interesting. We'll be back soon!

01/02/2026: What a great find! I discovered this little community café while strolling through the neighborhood, and what a pleasant surprise! Their coffee, and especially their hot chocolate, is delicious—without exaggeration, the best I've ever tasted. So, for €2.50, I could easily have ten! 🤤 Anyway, I highly recommend it! I also saw that they organize small concerts. If that's not fantastic, I don't know what is!

20/01/2026: A welcoming and unexpected community café where you might bump into local seniors or a lyricist for C. Gérôme who plays his song for us as a bonus 🫶.

26/03/2026: The service at the start was okay, the lady who greeted us and seated us was nice and patient. After we had a different lady who was our waitress and often had an attitude.. We waited at least 20 minutes for our food to come, and we were surprised as we had not expected our food to look like that. I ordered the lamb, and it looked dry, colorless and tasted bland and farmy (as if it were fresh out the farm, like you could taste the farm smell in a way), potatoes were cold, and the garlic sauce did not taste like garlic sauce at all. It was almost flavorless. My friends ordered the pork, and they had the same problem with their meat taste and look. It looked overcooked, and dry, and again with cold garnishes/potatoes. Then they had a mysterious purple like blob of something on their plate, and wasn't sure what it was as it wasn't even described on the menu. The ladies sat at the front desk/bar and had a view of us and kept watching us to see if we would like it or not. Once they saw that we weren't pleased with our food, they started talking to each other, and stared at us. Our waitress had to give another bottle of water at a table behind us, and she stomped and ran into my chair, I don't know if purposely or not. And 30€ for a plate of cold, dry food???? Not worth it!!!!! Tourist trap.

12/03/2026: We came here for dinner based off of the recommendation of our hotel and it was a short walk, which we appreciated. AMBIANCE: Upscale, beautiful and nicely decorated with a wood burning fireplace to take off the chill. SERVICE: We were a wee bit late but still warmly greeted by the manager, I presume. When we asked to switch tables we were met with a bit of resistance but we were accommodated, while our server looked on in disbelief. At that point our entire party saw the look of displeasure on her face and we saw the manager lady making fun of us; she surely didn’t think we would see her. When they saw that we caught them they quickly recomposed themselves but we already felt the fake vibe and we could tell that we were 100% an annoyance to them for sure. FOOD & DRINK: We started out with three appetizers of escargot, foie gras and a charcuterie platter with local meats. For entrees, we had chicken, Tripes and sea bass. We had a very lovely bottle of wine but we decided to forego dessert due to the uncomfortable vibe, and they did not hide their relief. The presentation of the food was nicely done but the taste was somewhat underwhelming, and given the price point and the forced service, it was a disappointingly average dinner. I don’t know that I would recommend this place but as always, please support your local small business! 3/12/26

28/03/2026: We visited this restaurant as a family for my birthday—and we were absolutely delighted! First of all, the food is excellent: the dishes were delicious and the portions very generous. Everything is prepared with care and great taste. A big thank you also to the staff for their warm and attentive welcome. Even though we hadn't ordered dessert, the team surprised us with a lovely little dessert and a candle. It was a very touching gesture that made the moment even more special. The restaurant's setting also deserves a mention: the place is very pleasant and charming, with a magnificent view of the Loire River from the windows, which makes the experience even more unique. 21/03/2026: There's a waitress in your establishment who smells really, really bad. It's not the first time we've noticed, and it's always the same; she completely kills our appetite because she smells so strong. I think even her colleagues must have noticed. It's just incredibly unpleasant to be served with such a smell that completely ruins your appetite!

09/02/2026: Visually, a typical, cozy English pub. Many staff members were on duty at lunchtime, completely uncoordinated (for example, we had to ask for the menu and placemat three times). There were very long waits before a server appeared at our table (and then didn't respond). Napkins weren't brought, so we got them ourselves. The bill only arrived when we were ready to leave, etc. In the end, we spent over 1.5 hours in the pub for a mediocre burger – the pub is unsuitable for a short, relaxing stop during a day of skiing. It would have been much better with fast, competent service... The pub was significantly better staffed a few years ago. A shame.

11/10/2025: We were given a very warm welcome upon our arrival. A delicious local menu followed by a complimentary appetizer... a very pleasant experience with a little background music and a chat with the owner. A small establishment in the old town of Mende, which requires a reservation in advance. A must-see address. Everything was excellent. See you next time on your next visit to Mende.

14/02/2026: Arrived at 8 pm, the restaurant was full, but we were very warmly welcomed by the waitresses. The tables were full, but the turnover was well managed. The table was cleaned, and the service was quick and perfect.
