15/05/2026: This McDonald's in Chavanay is a real gem! What sets it apart? The peace and quiet. It's a world away from the hustle and bustle of the big urban chains. Few people, a serene atmosphere, pleasant clientele... you can eat in peace, without stress or having to worry about your belongings. Quick and efficient service, orders always perfectly prepared, and a clean and well-maintained place. For those who like to enjoy a peaceful meal without feeling rushed, this is definitely the place to go. A McDonald's like this is the kind you wish you could find everywhere. I highly recommend it!

09/05/2026: I've been to McDonald's several times and every time something's missing!! Between the kitchen staff not wearing hairnets and them scratching their faces... Today I ordered a double cheeseburger with one meat and one cheese, There are always, always things they forget!!!!!!!

10/04/2026: Very affordable and decent to go food. A great place to grab a sandwich or salad. Staff was great and seemed to want to make good food. Was in town for a week and just grabbed a good meal here a few times. There is a small park nearby where you can sit down and eat.

06/05/2026: So I ordered the chicken pie. Normally there's a pastry base and a top layer, but this one only had a top layer. However, it was still a good dish, and I would have just added some sauce inside the filling.

03/05/2026: Before or after a match at the stadium next door, water glasses are glass, wine glasses are glass, cocktails are served in glasses, water carafes are glass, soft drinks are served in glass bottles... but for beer, it's cups! At over 9 euros for a tasting beer, it's outrageous not to be able to enjoy it in its original glass or even a suitable one, especially in a pub where everyone is sitting politely at a table. When we ask, we're told it's the law, that it's to prevent disturbances, etc... you should inform your customers and lower the prices for drinks served in cups; it's not the same service. Personally, I felt ripped off, and I won't be back.

03/05/2026: The way there A beautiful drive along the local roads to the village of Auberive. From the highway, you very quickly enter a peaceful area where time seems to stand still, with a beautiful rolling landscape. It is about a 14km drive after leaving the highway. The village of Auberive It is a very small village (approximately 250 inhabitants) that feels very old and charming. Don't expect restaurants or cafes, but rather peace, local people, and a church. It is very small and rustic. Don't expect anyone speaking English with you here 😀. The Auberge Auberge de l'Abbatiale is a historic hotel situated in a 12th-century building in the village of Auberive, located next to the Abbey of Auberive. It is open to visitors, but check the season and opening hours. The Auberge has 5 rooms. We had the family room. It has 2 floors. The room is simple and equipped with air conditioning. The shower and toilet are very basic, but you will survive. The beds are small doubles (140 cm wide) and firmly sprung. There is an outdoor area with a plastic patio table for 2 people. The prices are steep, but you do sleep in unique and quiet accommodation. The family has paid a lot of attention to detail in the renovation of the hotel/chambres d’hôtes. Dining at Auberge They provide lunch and dinner depending on the season. It is also accessible to non-hotel guests. Dinner is served in a monumental room with classic fireplaces that also serve partly as stoves (for preparing the Bœuf Bourguignon). It is very atmospherically decorated, and you immediately feel transported to the Middle Ages. For 45 Euros, you get a 3-course menu. A more than reasonable price for the quality of the food, the ambiance, and the service. The host is very friendly and speaks excellent English. They have a wine list with a few very fine wines. More than enough choice, and a glass of wine is also available for 6 euros. So you can go as wild as you like. Walking routes There are many walking routes, and these are marked in the village and along the route using a combination of two colors. A lovely way to enjoy the beautiful nature and silence. Charging There are two 11kW charging stations in the village car park (a 3-4m walk from the hotel). We were able to use our Travelcard here. Hold your card in front of the sensor, open the cabinet on the side, and connect the cable. That is all. Don't forget to close the cabinet afterwards.

24/05/2026: I came to this restaurant for a company lunch. As a vegetarian, I usually eat the few meat- and fish-free options. However, there were no vegetarian starters or main courses on the menu. So I asked if there was a vegetarian dish available. The answer was a simple "no." A colleague had to prompt the discussion to get some suggestions, which involved removing the meat or fish from certain dishes. When I was offered an artichoke dish without the meat, and I explained that I didn't like artichokes, I was met with the response, "So you don't like meat or vegetables." I found this generalization inappropriate and unwelcoming, especially since no particular effort was made on the menu to offer a vegetarian alternative. To avoid prolonging this awkward exchange, I finally ordered a simple plate of fries. I understand that a restaurant may not specialize in vegetarian cuisine, but offering at least one suitable dish or welcoming this type of request with more consideration would seem to me to be the minimum today.

20/05/2026: A roadside restaurant? So much more! The menu is fantastic; succulent meats, a lot of work put into the cooking. Great on the patio when the weather's nice, cozy inside when it's cooler. Impeccable service. We love it. For example: the cordon bleu? A real piece of chicken, with melting Comté cheese in a local ham...and homemade fries, of course! I highly recommend it. It feels like a holiday, like home!

24/05/2026: Passing through Arles, we decided to have dinner at this family-run establishment, which has been in business for 50 years. Everything was perfect, from the warm welcome with its charming Arlesian accent, to the service, the decor, and especially the quality (and quantity 😁) of the food. We enjoyed the bull specialties (the brochette, the burger, and the daube) – a real treat! Don't hesitate to discover this restaurant; you won't be disappointed.
