The only thing that needs improvement is the service, which isn't very efficient; the wait for the daily special was very long... The waiter seemed to be running around and a bit overwhelmed, especially considering it wasn't a busy lunchtime. The dish arrived barely warm, which was a shame. Otherwise, the dessert was excellent and saved the meal 😋

20/09/2026: Alsatian specialties? Not at all. This is a far cry from the Alsatian delicacies and even further from the warm welcome of this beautiful region. Avoid at all costs! The only positive point is the restaurant's location by the water, reminiscent of Strasbourg's Petite France district. We were served a tarte flambée with industrial Munster cheese, without bacon, and the cheese tasted of anything but Munster. That was the better of the two dishes. By the way, the set menu—a tarte flambée of your choice and a Vacherin cheese—is more expensive as a set menu than à la carte... The second course, fleischnacka, is a specialty of rolled dough and meat served in broth. Well, this was the garbage of the week: every imaginable vegetable, including tagliatelle, shell pasta, and all sorts of vegetables that had no place in this dish, and on top of that, it was acidic, not very clear, almost spoiled... We cut our meal short. I went to pay, and there too, it was turning into a spectacle, but not a good one. The owner got angry because the contactless card didn't work. She threw down her feather duster (she was doing something or other somewhere) and tried to snatch the card from my hands. I quickly put it away and put it back. Finally, it worked, and she threw the receipts and the card back at me! In over twenty years of working in restaurants, I've never seen such behavior. Shame on you, on the lies you're spreading, and on this bad image of Alsace! Lovers of Alsatian cuisine, stay away!

27/05/2026: My husband and I went on our honeymoon to Versailles. Immediately upon entry, the staff let us know “No Anglaise”. Despite that, she was so incredibly helpful and even brought out a book to show us what fish were on the menu. It was the most incredible meal of our entire trip to France and she had the cutest pup behind the counter. We will be learning more French and going back!! Don’t be discouraged by the language barrier, just be ready to have the best scallops of your life.

01/09/2026: Unbeatable lunch deal with a lovely appetizer buffet. Friendly (though sometimes slow) service and a nice shaded terrace. The best spot around for a casual lunch. Arrive early, it gets packed by noon. Note: lunch only.

08/03/2026: I stopped at this establishment for a simple coffee, with the rather extravagant idea—I admit—of having a croissant with it. So I ordered a coffee and asked for a croissant. The waiter's response: "Sorry sir, we're all out. The other customers have taken them all." Very well. The national croissant shortage has clearly started here. A few minutes later, a customer came in, ordered a coffee… and two croissants. Immediate miracle: the waiter calmly brought him his coffee and two croissants, right to his table. A little surprised by this sudden bakery resurrection, I politely asked how this was possible. The very serious reply: "Oh, sir, these croissants were reserved." That's fascinating. So, if I understand correctly, a customer who clearly doesn't know the establishment, who walks in spontaneously, is able to reserve invisible croissants that other customers can't get. Interesting concept: here, croissants seem to be made on a case-by-case basis. For future visitors, I therefore recommend the following strategy: Come here for coffee, but bring your own croissants, and perhaps a pain au chocolat too, just to be safe. This will avoid any logistical disappointment. In short: a rather unique experience. A coffee shop… and an unexpected sociological spectacle. An establishment I don't recommend, unless you enjoy culinary mysteries.

17/09/2026: A very friendly couple who own the place, a superb location with a view of the Clock Tower, the church, and the Aire River below. The service is quick, and the double coffee we ordered was very good; it's not a "roaster's" establishment, but far better than the ones you find on the motorway. A nice touch was the display of local honey, which was excellent. All in all, a pleasant stop.

30/06/2026: We arrived at 12:30 PM and were told the chicken wouldn't be cooked until 1:30 PM. We were finally served at 2:40 PM, and when we expressed our impatience, the waitress replied, "It's Sunday." Meanwhile, tables of two and four were served, even though the customers had arrived later. The chicken was cooked, but the pasta was cold. A quick trip to the restroom revealed the dog sprawled out and not moving, because its owner said it was well-behaved! After finishing our meal, we went to ask for the bill. The cook was juggling payments and frying fries in a small space, and we wondered how she managed! The work surface can only hold two plates. It's impossible to get the bill without paying... We return to our table and the waitress arrives, very proud of herself, with the bill... A complete lack of seriousness and professionalism. Even though it's Sunday, the day they can make money, they clearly weren't motivated! The only redeeming feature is its name, "L'Embuscade" (The Ambush): absolutely true. Avoid at all costs.
