26/06/2026: The people were very kind. Shortly after I bought my ice cream, it fell due to my mistake, and the seller, seeing this, gave me another free ice cream. Also, the passion flavored ice cream was amazing.

05/07/2026: Nice place with great potential. Great atmosphere, the concept is brilliant. The servers are unavailable and not very helpful. The barbecue selection is limited and there's a long wait.

26/05/2026: What a delight! This restaurant is excellent! My husband and I have spent many wonderful moments there. The French cuisine is refined. The staff is warm and welcoming. The chef is exceptionally talented, and we have never been disappointed. I highly recommend this restaurant!

19/05/2026: Rustic restaurant. The service isn't great. As soon as you're seated, you have to choose your appetizer and your meal. She comes back 10 seconds later and does nothing but that for 5 minutes while you choose. I didn't find it pleasant. We had the set menu, around €30. It was very good, but maybe not enough on the plate.

16/04/2026: Excellent meal at L'Explorateur. Very warm welcome. The rillettes were excellent, and the galettes were just as good.

10/02/2026: The check-in process was lengthy and difficult for many. There was confusion about the deposit. There was no hot water, but they do have a shower, which apparently doesn't work often. The food is decent, the bar closes very early, and if you have to leave your backpack in the garage but sleep on the top floor, this is very annoying.

13/05/2025: While visiting Crest, we chose this restaurant for its daily menu featuring fish or meat. From starter to dessert, we were delighted; the fish was cooked to perfection with delicious herb-infused vegetables whose aromas linger in the mouth. The welcome was very friendly; this restaurant is well worth the detour.

18/10/2025: Charming place, natural beers and traditional cuisine by definition. Without a doubt, if you have done a peak, a hike or just want to treat yourself, you have to stop at alphand. Very friendly staff. We didn't have time to take the photo, the food flew by 😛😆

30/08/2025: A real meal, very hearty, it had been a long time since I had eaten so well, and the beer 🤭☺️☺️☺️ a pure delight for the taste buds, stop by honestly.

13/07/2026: Most unwelcoming atmosphere. Sign out front stating what languages they speak and perhaps in good faith, but after reading other reviews more likely some ego or power trip from the owner. For context I’m English (I live in France and speak fluent French) and was laughed at by staff as I was reading the sign. Comes across extremely alienating to those who don’t speak those languages. Food looked below bog standard but with insane prices. Not even worth a glimpse, go across the road and get a delicious galette instead.

08/04/2026: Wow ! Betty and Pascal are the most wonderful hosts. They looked after our group of 6 with a great level of care and attention. Pascal was super helpful with allowing us to store cars and bikes for our Camino Trail. The walk to the hotel from St Jean Pied de Port is very scenic and not too long. Best of all is Pascal's cooking - incredible quality and such an amazing dinner. Thanks to you both for your hospitality.

06/07/2026: What a lovely find! We stopped in on our way back to the UK from Le Mans. The choice of starter buffet was good, and tasty. My steak and chips main was cooked perfectly, and my family's chicken salad was very tasty. The outside seating area was well shaded from the blazing sun. The whole restaurant was well presented and if I'm travelling to or from Le Mans again I will definitely stop in to refuel. Thank you so much for having us!

03/06/2026: Superb, unique hotel with its own distinct character. The staff were very helpful and pleasant.

25/05/2026: Friendly welcome and clean bedding. However: the room was outdated, the floorboards creaked, the walls were very thin resulting in a lot of noise in the morning, the bathroom was poorly maintained, there was no shower curtain, the hot water was difficult to regulate, and the storage was unstable. In short, it was acceptable for one night, but the price is clearly excessive for the services offered.
