13/02/2026: We ordered two pizzas yesterday and they were excellent. We checked the pizza dough, which was a nice change from the usual pizza dough. We had also ordered hamburgers and enjoyed them just as much. Both the pizzas and hamburgers were generously topped and the price was reasonable for what we ordered. I highly recommend this restaurant, whether you eat in or take away. ☺️

18/01/2026: What a disappointment! The salads were presented very poorly. The ingredients really smelled cheap. The tomatoes were in very large chunks, tasteless, and the ham cubes were inedible due to the tough pieces inside. The warm goat cheese salad was the same—extremely disappointing for €19 😱. The plates were practically full when we left, and the feedback we gave to the waiter was not appreciated at all....

01/02/2026: Had a great time at Hippopotamus. The staff is friendly and professional, the food is delicious and beautifully presented. The meat was cooked perfectly, and the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

01/11/2025: My partner informed our waitress that she is allergic to gluten (which the menu requested guests do) and asked which dishes do not contain gluten. The Waitress confidently but incorrectly told us that a starter was gluten free, which resulted in my partner eating a spoonful of a dish which contained pasta and getting very sick. We did check before ordering but the waitress told us this dish was cheese & cream. When asked about whether the starter we had started eating was actually pasta, the waitress realised, despite her confident assurances before ordering. I understand there is a language barrier as none of our party speak good French, but she clearly understood what gluten was (gluten is the same in French & English) and assured us there was none in that dish, she offered no sort of apology at all or compensation after realising the mistake. Any good restaurant should be clear on the allergens in each dish they offer, or if unsure should simply let the customers know rather than guessing.

26/10/2025: Very clean hotel, competent, helpful, attentive, and friendly staff. Hearty breakfast, very good food, varied selection. A very pleasant stay despite the rain. Thanks to the entire team.

25/10/2025: Let's be honest, the hotel is dated, but the rooms are extremely clean, and the shower is brand new with a multi-directional jet of water that's a real treat. The lighting in the room is so bright you feel like they're trying to X-ray you. There's probably a button somewhere that fixes that (problem). Then there's the restaurant, in a word, fantastic. The dishes (both local and international) were absolutely top-notch. Both in terms of taste and presentation, they were a real treat. The house wine was delicious, and the espresso was typically French; they simply can't do that. If you stop at any gas station in Spain or Portugal, you'll just get a liquid bonbon. In France, you just can't do that. Breakfast? Totally my thing, simple, but if the croissant is top-notch, I'm happy. No cheese, no cold cuts, and no eggs—just the way the French experience it. Two very charming ladies, both in the restaurant and at breakfast, and you're off on your way with a wonderful feeling. I wandered around the area a bit after dinner and saw that they were the only restaurant that was packed, which speaks volumes, I think. One more thing about Aligot: I remember them pulling cheese strings up to the ceiling, while I think this one has been adapted a bit for tourists. Will I be back? If I'm ever in the area, definitely.

17/12/2025: Fantastic restaurant! The staff were incredibly kind and the food was excellent. Thank you again for the spaghetti bolognese; it was the best I've ever had.

10/11/2025: Avoid Brasserie Gal; the food is terrible. I've rarely eaten so badly, and the owner isn't very pleasant. I was invited, but I only stayed out of politeness.

16/11/2025: The food was very good and plentiful, and the atmosphere was pleasant. We will definitely return and would gladly recommend it.

09/10/2025: Good little restaurant, a little pricey for starters and desserts. Luckily, the young waiters are there to make you feel welcome, because the manager is very unwelcoming; there's work to be done on that!

07/12/2025: Our experience, after a night spent at the Hôtel de Bourgogne in Saulieu, included a very pleasant exchange with our host. While the room was admittedly rustic, the bedding was impeccable. Impersonal hotel chains are not for us. We had a delightful encounter with the owner. It all started with a Cuiralatre counterweighted rotisserie that stood proudly in one of the dining rooms. We also learned about the creation of Courtepaille in Burgundy by Jean Loisier, the brand's founder. We learned a great deal and wish him well in passing on the torch; a lifetime of experience is priceless! One night from December 6th to 7th.

24/01/2026: From my morning coffee to lunch, half set menu and half à la carte, my taste buds were delighted, and I was greeted with smiles galore... All that's left for me to do is try dinner ☺️ It's so nice to be welcomed like this, thank you 🌺
