28/07/2026: Delicious steak frites. Recommended medium rare for the steak. The hippo sauce was quite unique, the black pepper and bernaise were also good. Do try the egg mayonnaise starter and the panna cotta at the end for dessert. Worth it! Would recommend if you are near Massena.

21/06/2026: We went there last night with friends and had a great evening. The kebabs were excellent, as were the desserts. The welcome and service were top-notch. A really pleasant neighborhood brasserie atmosphere.

05/07/2026: The place you arrive at is so obvious from the outside that it's not good quality, and as for the choices inside, even trying them, I guarantee you'll be disappointed. If it's a question of price, I wouldn't even pay €5 for that kind of thing, and the hygiene is just awful. What you see there is a complete lack of hygiene. Really not recommended at all 🤮👎

04/07/2026: Absolutely must try this place if you want a shameful, catastrophic, and completely illegal experience!! Passing through for business, we couldn't get a receipt, well, actually, we did, look at the photos: No VAT, credit card refused, with the explanation that the cashier was right next door, no cash register!! The hygiene was appalling: the "desserts" were left out in the open, even though it was 30°C outside! The cook in jogging pants and a sports t-shirt is fine for a run, but not for working in a kitchen. They offered a set menu for our arrival for the "1st anniversary of the restaurant," which included a welcome cocktail. We're still waiting for it. This menu was couscous with a mechoui salad + dessert for €16. Okay, we weren't expecting a royal couscous for that price, but still, not this! A plate of semolina, two pieces of carrot, two pieces of zucchini, three meatballs about 2cm each (or one chicken thigh). Everything was overcooked and, consequently, incredibly dry, but surprisingly, completely cold... long live the microwave!! It's not like we didn't warn you... The mechoui salad was so spicy it was inedible, and it's not like we don't enjoy spicy food, but well, at the same time, since we never even saw the "homemade" harissa, we'll say that makes up for it! The broth we ordered as an extra to try and wash it all down was just slightly colored tomato water.... We asked for extra merguez sausage, but this is the only "oriental" restaurant in France that has neither beef, nor merguez, nor lamb.... Hence the tasteless broth, I suppose! And when we got to the till, because after the couscous (which we left at 80%) we wanted to stop spending, the woman wanted to charge us for three complete meals when we only had: 0 cocktails 1 salad 3 couscous dishes 0 desserts In short, I call them crooks. This place should be shut down!

12/06/2026: It's not the most obvious place when you arrive in the square, but it's a little gem. Warm welcome. No wait and a superb meal, well presented. You can really taste the homemade quality. Add to that a sublime dessert: strawberry meringue and hot chocolate. Pure bliss. I'll be back. N Guédra

03/07/2026: Getting out of my car, which was 41°C (106°F), I ordered a coffee and a large glass of water. The waitress brought me a coffee and a tiny glass of water. I was surprised and politely said, "Oh dear, I asked for a large glass of water." The young waitress, clearly following the manager's instructions (for whom a smile is optional), told me, "We have bottled water." I know that legally, an establishment isn't obligated to serve free water, provided the information is clearly displayed, which wasn't the case at the Bistro de la Gare. I sent back the coffee I'd paid for, which would have tasted like a pigeon's. I should mention that I'm a senior citizen and that a health prevention advisor from the CPAM (French National Health Insurance Fund) is trying to contact me by phone to remind me that I need to stay hydrated.

24/05/2026: We had to order our two beers at the bar—two pints, to be precise—and were served two 33cl bottles of Pélican beer for €19! It's no wonder the terraces are empty at €9.50 for a 33cl bottle, even the specials.

25/05/2026: A friend and I went there with other friends, and I really appreciated the staff's friendliness—not 5 stars, but 10 for their welcome! And the food was delicious. In short, you'll come back to DE FRITUUR MAUBEUGEOIS without hesitation!

21/01/2026: I ordered two Christmas menus for my parents, and when I called today to reserve, they said they were permanently closed. This evening I received a call; they will refund me at the beginning of February.

05/12/2025: Customers turned away! We booked online and traveled 100km only to be told they no longer accept Smartbox vouchers. Disappointed.

27/08/2025: I asked for a café crème to go and specified that I wanted it poured directly into my own cup. Unfortunately, it was served to me in a cup. I therefore had to transfer the coffee myself into my cup, which was inconvenient. When I explained the situation, I was rudely told that it was not my role. Furthermore, my cup was only filled a third full and I didn't even get any sugar. It was a shame, because I would have liked to have had a more respectful and attentive experience. I do not intend to return, despite the fact that I live right next door.

14/07/2026: Very disappointed on this match night. From the start, we understood that we had to eat quickly without necessarily being able to watch the game. While we were eating, they came to check on us five times to see if we had finished our meal. We do not recommend this restaurant. Tonight, it was all about making money from tables, not customer comfort.

14/07/2026: I ordered a classic steak tartare, and twice I was brought an Italian tartare. The third time, they removed the slice of prosciutto from the top, but the pesto sauce was still there! And there was a mistake on the bill. I should mention that this was on July 13, 2026, and it was very busy. The music was loud and inappropriate for the style of the restaurant. I've been here about twenty times, but this last visit left a bad taste in my mouth!

27/04/2026: My daughter-in-law gave a gift certificate for a one-night stay and breakfast to a couple of friends last weekend. Unfortunately, her friend's husband had a health issue and couldn't make it. She requested (with proof of sick leave) a postponement or a discount on another service, but they refused, and she lost over €400. It's shameful for an establishment that claims to be welcoming... absolutely no empathy; all they care about is money. I do not recommend this establishment.

26/04/2026: We had a wonderful stay; everyone was very friendly, whether for treatments or in the restaurant.

11/06/2026: Wonderful staff and chef who comes up with his own recipes. Reasonable prices. Lovely atmosphere.

31/03/2026: ​I booked a table online for Monday and got a confirmation, only to be called 2 hours before being told it’s "not possible" to honor it. We decided to give them another chance and booked for Tuesday. ​Despite having a second email confirmation, when we arrived, they refused to seat us because the restaurant was full. Their excuse? "The online reservation system doesn't work." ​This is a complete lack of respect for customers' time. Don't bother booking online here—a confirmation means nothing to them. This rating reflects their poor management and service, as we never even got to taste the food.
