19/07/2026: I didn't have the bad experiences some people have. There were four of us, and we ordered four ice creams to go (delicious). Yes, they don't accept credit cards, but it's clearly stated, so there's no point in complaining...

13/07/2026: A lovely little patisserie right opposite the cathedral. There's some seating available, as well as good coffee and delicious cakes. The baguettes, chocolates, pâtés, and quiches are also very tasty.

08/07/2026: I had a takeaway espresso which was good. However, the small coffee éclair was €3.30 to go compared to €4.30 to eat in. I didn't understand the big difference... anyway! But above all, it had no taste! I'm disappointed! Luckily I got it to go!

17/07/2026: I went for breakfast and had to go back the next few days, it was delicious!!! If you want to get bread/croissants and pastries to go, there's a little door next door just for that; the attendant there was extremely kind and spoke Portuguese, which is always very gratifying when traveling!!

04/07/2026: We thought we could sit down and eat and drink something for breakfast, but it was a complete disappointment. We managed to get something from the lady we couldn't get along with at all. They had tables set up in front of the shop, but lo and behold! Eating there was forbidden! How ridiculous, the rude man from the shop next door made us leave. We went to the shop next door to get coffee and then sit down, but lo and behold, eating was forbidden again. A complete fiasco. The baguette I bought was unbitten. I threw it in the trash with great sadness.

15/05/2026: Huge disappointment: undercooked crepe, cheese not even melted, dried-out, cold mussels marinière with no sauce—disgusting—and a tasteless, overcooked burger. In short, avoid this place; La Mouette is not what it used to be.

14/05/2026: Extremely disappointed. The change of ownership has really ruined what used to be a good place. It's expensive and disgusting. Avoid it from now on!!

05/08/2026: Charcuterie board shared between two: very good, generous portions. However: piña colada served with a rotten sprig of mint as decoration, shards of glass lying around on the terrace, and an infestation of wasps (I know they can't help it, but absolutely nothing is done to keep them away).

05/08/2026: We went there on July 3rd to eat just before the sound and light show, and it was perfect. Despite the crowds, the service was quick; the waiters were busy but remained pleasant, and we really appreciated the very refreshing drinks, especially at this time of year. It was great, we'll definitely go back.

22/07/2026: The mussels and fries were delicious and plentiful. The waitress was very pleasant and accommodating.

15/07/2026: A rip-off! I ordered the set menu for €21 and still had to pay for the starter and coffee separately. €34.90 instead of €21.

22/07/2026: Nice place, but the servers aren't helpful (45-minute wait for a croque monsieur), and it's very expensive.

15/07/2026: Avoid at all costs! A tourist trap like no other. It's not a restaurant, not even a snack bar. There's practically nothing to eat, and what little there is is outrageously expensive. €15 for a piece of sausage with a slice of stale bread! €5 for a can of Coke. And to top it off, the manager is incredibly unfriendly, and the owner slouches in her chair, yelling in front of the customers. The only positive point is the view, but it's overpriced! My evening was ruined, and my money wasted. In short... pathetic.

07/07/2026: Excellent pizza with a thin crust and generous vegetables (zucchini, tomato, eggplant, etc.). Elsewhere it's the opposite: thick crust and a very thin layer of vegetables; and a very good cheesecake.

15/07/2026: Absolutely fantastic! Even though the entire terrace was booked, the waiter managed to find us a table outside, showing great dedication to his work and his customers. The meal was excellent, made with quality ingredients. My partner had a goat cheese salad, and I had a burger with homemade fries and salad – nothing to complain about. Four appetizers plus two coffees came to just over fifty euros, which is more than reasonable for the quality of the food and service. I highly recommend it.

14/07/2026: The waiter was great, which is already a plus; he was very friendly and professional. The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The food was good, excellent value for money, especially considering the fresh products, which I think makes all the difference compared to others who charge the same prices but use frozen products from the European Union. The caipirinha cocktail was excellent 👍👌 nothing to complain about

06/08/2026: The order was taken perfectly by the very friendly waitress. However, the "pizza" was awful. The crust was hard and far too salty. We mentioned it to the waitress, who explained that she had a problem with the cook, who was new to the restaurant. To be honest, I might go back, but only for a drink.

03/08/2026: The waiter was unpleasant and showed a complete lack of respect for the customers… Based on other reviews and my own experience, perhaps he should find a job that would suit him better.

24/07/2026: On Tuesday I was buying chocolate and the saleswoman accidentally mixed up the amount I paid and I still don't have the money back in my account.

20/07/2026: We were very disappointed by the reception and lack of kindness, especially since we are loyal customers of this establishment and return every summer holiday to Cabourg. We came to buy madeleines in your shop, which also serves as a tea room. My 9-year-old son and his father asked to use the restroom, but were refused access on the grounds that there were cameras and that it wasn't permitted. We found this refusal particularly regrettable, especially since we are regular customers and it was an urgent need. A little understanding and compassion would have been appreciated, particularly towards a child. This experience leaves us with a very negative impression and unfortunately does not reflect the welcoming image we had of your establishment. Lydia D.

01/07/2026: Stopped here while cycle touring along the Velo Scenic and quickly discovered the place is totally anti-cyclists. We thought they were joking to begin with but then some UK ex-pats explained that the barman pretty much hates all forms of cyclists. It was buzzing inside with locals so presumably the owner doesn't need any more customers, in particular cyclists. There is a very nice cafe around the back of this place so go there instead.

05/05/2026: The manager came out in the pouring rain to chase us away; we were two women on bikes on the sidewalk, ready to make his entire day's sales. This man has many talents—perhaps he was torn between a career as a bouncer and running a restaurant. In the meantime, we highly recommend the establishment to Philippe Etchebest, who loves ambitious projects.

05/07/2026: The waitresses were incredibly friendly, we highly recommend it! We called around 10:30 pm for a table on the terrace, and since we arrived at 11 pm on a football match night, we were welcomed perfectly. Our table was waiting for us, the service was impeccable, and we had a fantastic evening! Thank you to the team for this wonderful atmosphere.

31/12/2025: The managers are completely disrespectful, and I see from the reviews that it's the same even for those who actually ate there... Instead of simply apologizing for not updating the opening hours (10 pm) for December 30th by allowing reservations for 9 pm, they treat people like dirt, brushing them off in an incredibly rude manner. When you've just driven 600 km to see your mother and little sister, and you arrive at 8:30 pm, counting on this "restaurant"—which was the only traditional French restaurant in the city center "open until 10 pm"—for a family meal, the least you can expect is to be greeted with a smile and a "Sorry, we closed the kitchen at 9 pm tonight..." rather than a "Uh... I'll check with my husband" and a "Yes??" "Without even a single 'hello' from the gentleman, and to top it off, a raised eyebrow that clearly said, 'Why are you bothering me at 9 pm?' I mean, I don't know, what do you think people come to a restaurant for at 9 pm? A game of bowling? Luckily for our evening, we found it much more pleasant, certainly better, and of a higher standard than the property of these pathetic people."

30/12/2025: We arrived at 1 p.m., not even a hello, just a rude "We're full!" Please continue to ban this restaurant so they at least learn some manners and courtesy.
