03/08/2026: Overall, we genuinely liked the hotel itself. The location is very nice, the property is well maintained, and the breakfast was particularly delicious. We also found the housekeeping and service staff to be exceptionally friendly and pleasant. Unfortunately, this made our experience with an issue regarding our booking all the more disappointing. We had deliberately chosen to book directly through the hotel’s own website rather than using one of the major booking platforms. Direct booking is repeatedly promoted by hotels and European hotel associations as a way to support hotels directly, and that was exactly our intention. Unfortunately, we found the booking process on the website to be unclear. Apparently, the room category we originally wanted was no longer available. However, instead of clearly informing us of this, a different room category was selected or booked during the process. At the time, we did not realize that we had ultimately booked a different category from the one we had intended. Naturally, the disappointment was significant when we arrived at the hotel. What was even more disappointing, however, was the response from management. We were essentially told that there was no solution to our problem and that the mistake was ours, as we had booked the room in that way. We were also told that there had never been any issues with the website before and that we were supposedly the first guests to raise such a concern. At this point, especially in a four-star hotel, we would have expected a more professional, guest-oriented, and solution-focused approach. At one stage, we were offered a spa voucher or the possibility of changing rooms later as a gesture of goodwill. These offers were subsequently withdrawn. Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled afterwards also did not leave us with a particularly welcoming impression. When encountering management while coming and going, we perceived the attitude towards us as rather reserved. At check-out, we were also not asked again how our stay had been or whether everything had been satisfactory. In our view, asking guests about their stay is part of the basic principles of good hospitality, regardless of whether the stay went smoothly or whether management is already aware that a guest has raised a complaint. Guest feedback and criticism should at least be listened to and taken seriously. What we found particularly disappointing is that our conscious decision to book directly with the hotel ultimately seemed to work to our disadvantage. The fact that we had specifically chosen to book directly in order to support the hotel appeared to have no relevance whatsoever during the discussion. Our overall impression is therefore mixed: a beautiful hotel in a great location, with excellent breakfast and many very friendly staff members. However, when it comes to how management handles problems and complaints, we would have expected a considerably higher level of professionalism, flexibility, and guest orientation from a hotel of this category.

12/05/2026: This Michelin-starred hotel and restaurant is very well located on the road south. The enclosed and secure courtyard (included in the room price) for parking is a real plus. The rooms are classic and the bedding is of very good quality. The restaurant is pleasant with well-spaced tables. The service is a bit old-fashioned and traditional, but the meal, while also quite classic, is outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

11/05/2026: Back at Le Carré d'Aléthius after more than 12 years… and our love for it remains undiminished. We discovered this magnificent restaurant during a family trip years ago, and on our way back from the Aubrac region towards Switzerland, we decided to stop there again. What an excellent idea! Everything was perfect from start to finish: refined cuisine, full of elegance and mastery, impeccable service, and a smiling, attentive, and genuinely pleasant staff. The wine pairings were also remarkable, with some truly wonderful local discoveries. This lunch was a truly timeless experience, a pure moment of happiness and indulgence. It's always a great pleasure to visit Le Carré d'Aléthius. Thank you to the entire team for this incredible experience and for your consistency over the years.

21/10/2025: Excellent restaurant with a menu featuring local cuisine. A friendly, welcoming atmosphere without any fuss. The decor isn't particularly fancy, but that's not a problem; we appreciate the simplicity. However, on the downside, the cleaning of the premises was inadequate.

12/10/2025: The restaurant was closed. I had a reservation for three people at noon! There was no sign on the front clearly stating that it's open on Sundays, and I booked in advance, so it's absurd. I definitely won't be going back; it's just not professional.

19/05/2026: Nice little restaurant, we chose the asparagus, ham, mayo, and vinaigrette option (medium size)! We booked by phone for an asparagus tasting evening, and the asparagus was excellent and melted in your mouth 😋 The mayo was a little too salty, but everything was fresh and from a local producer 💪 The service was quick, professional, and friendly. The price was reasonable for the asparagus option 😀 We'll be back for another tasting evening 😉

02/10/2025: A superb experience for a business lunch. The welcome and service were very friendly and pleasant. The view from the terrace was simply breathtaking. Delicious and very generous portions! I'll definitely be back.

27/08/2025: Excellent restaurant. A warm welcome! There's a covered outdoor terrace with a lovely view if needed... A large, free parking lot opposite. Delicious (local) and generous portions, beautifully presented and reasonably priced for the quantity and quality... Fast and attentive service. A very good place to eat. I highly recommend it if you're in the area.

27/02/2026: Last-minute booking for an unexpected business trip about ten kilometers from the hotel. Very pleasantly surprised! Charming place, lovely room, excellent value for money. The owner is very welcoming, friendly, kind, helpful, and accommodating. And the restaurant: a gem! We ate (and drank) very well. The meal was delicious, from aperitif to dessert, beautifully presented, with very generous portions, all served quickly. I highly recommend it.

08/03/2026: We just spent a night at this hotel. The lodge-side room was impeccably clean, spacious, and equipped with high-quality toiletries. A large terrace enhances the room. Furthermore, the hotel's setting is sublime! The breakfasts are generous, and the decor is tasteful. We will definitely return!

27/07/2026: I loved the room I had at the hotel. It was one of the better night's sleep I had on my trip. The bathroom was lovely and large and the bed was super comfy. Do yourself a favour though and skip the restaurant.

10/06/2026: A really nice but slightly quirky hotel in a beautiful location. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the receptionist. We had a lovely room on the top floor with terrific views across the countryside. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed the day we stayed so we can't comment on that.

25/05/2026: We made a quick stop at Mimi and Nono's terrace after our hike, and honestly, we received a very warm welcome. The lady who served us was incredibly kind, smiling, and attentive despite the busy schedule. We simply came to have a beer on the terrace and had a lovely time in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Thank you for your hospitality and kindness; it's truly a pleasure to encounter such genuine people.

24/02/2026: We stayed at the hotel in 2024 and dined at the restaurant. After moving to Alsace, we returned for lunch. The establishment is very well-run and the staff are friendly. The food is also very good... but the dishes arrive far too hot, not to say scalding.

01/01/2026: We just left this inn. As usual, it was perfect. The all-you-can-eat buffet (starters and desserts) and the main course (game, meat, and fish) were very good. They often have themed menus on Sundays... The atmosphere is calm and friendly. The staff is kind and attentive. I always go the day after New Year's and I never regret it. See you soon! ☺
