23/07/2026: Terrible service. You order a large café crème and it's small. The Café Richard is not good at all. The price for a small café crème is €3.40. Be aware they don't accept credit cards for purchases under €14. They point out there's a bank next door. Well done, bank! Or well done, Desman!? We won't be going back to this village where other businesses are doing the same thing.

23/07/2026: We came to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary after having visited this lovely place several times! We had a wonderful time, the servers were fantastic, the welcome was perfect, the food was superb, we were delighted, and we highly recommend it! Many thanks again. Françoise and Dan

13/07/2026: I sat at my table for almost 20 minutes without anyone coming to serve me. The waitress looked at me several times, but she never came over. I found this lack of professionalism and consideration for customers very disappointing.

09/07/2026: We arrived at 8:35 PM, but the manager refused to serve us dinner, claiming they had just closed the kitchen. He also refused to offer us a sharing platter… A real shame, considering the setting. We went next door to Le Ragondingue, where they welcomed us for a meal!

10/07/2026: Hello Very nice place, but unfortunately the blonde woman's welcome and lack of respect are a shame for the place. As a woman, I asked if it was possible to use the restroom, and was refused, told that it was reserved for customers. I politely understood and went to get my wallet from the car to buy something so I could use the restroom. However, I added that this was the first time I'd experienced anything like this while on vacation in France, and that I didn't expect it from a woman. She started getting angry, telling me that she pays for the water, cleans the restrooms, and provides toilet paper, and that this isn't for people who don't buy anything. It's a shame to work in a commercial place in the middle of summer with so many tourists if you're not suited for the job. I left this review solely because of the reception I received from this woman; unfortunately, I just happened to encounter her. I don't want to criticize anything else because, sadly, I haven't actually tried it and it doesn't make me want to. Have a good day.

26/06/2026: I've never seen such an unpleasant waiter! A disgrace, especially when you pay €10 for a pint! As friendly as a prison guard: doesn't look you in the eye, doesn't say thank you when you pay… a disgrace! Avoid at all costs!!

25/06/2026: Having plenty of time between trains, I was able to spend a good part of the day in this brasserie where the waiters were understanding and welcoming. I started with a chocolate frappé, which was served, at my request, without whipped cream. Then, at lunchtime, I chose octopus "seared Basque-style," that is, with peppers, onions, potatoes, capers, and sundried tomatoes. Finally, in the afternoon, I ordered a chocolate crepe with vanilla ice cream (again, without whipped cream, at my request). Admittedly, the total bill was high: €51 (the octopus alone cost €33). But the overall impression was positive. It would have been preferable, however, to use a little less oil to accompany the octopus (which, incidentally, was a tad too firm). But the dish was very flavorful, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The crepe, however, could have been fluffier. The iced chocolate, finally, was perfect. In short, a very pleasant day in the cool air, which is especially welcome on a day when the temperature is over 40 degrees Celsius! (The dining room is noisy during peak hours, but that's obviously not the fault of the staff, who are very brave to work in these conditions…)

09/06/2026: The €16 set lunch menu is exactly what you'd expect from a country restaurant. The building's facade is a bit dated and not particularly impressive, but once inside, the welcome is excellent and you immediately feel at home. The restaurant has retained its old-world charm, while being very well-maintained and spotlessly clean. The menu includes country soup with the option of seconds, a simple cold starter, followed by a good, generous, and unpretentious meat dish of the day. A cheese course is offered before dessert. The desserts are frozen, but still reasonable for the price. The service is quick and efficient, ideal for workers and those short on time at lunchtime. Finally, the presence of many regulars is often a great indicator, and this is certainly the case here. An honest, no-nonsense place with good value for money for lunch.

27/04/2026: Impeccable service, a hearty country soup that evokes childhood memories, a generous starter and a delicious main course, all in keeping with the beginning of the meal, cheese and wine included, for a worker's lunch at €16.50 – it's a trip down memory lane, and you have to head back to work with a full stomach. I wish I could find restaurants like this every day...

19/07/2026: We wanted to try their homemade butter croissants and coffee, which were delicious. But the best part was the service and friendliness of a young man who spoke Spanish, which we really appreciated since he was able to explain the products they sold, and we decided to try them.

18/07/2026: Yes, prices have gone up... but you can still enjoy a treat for under €4 with the chocolate éclairs (not coffee!). The Basque lemon cake is a real marvel... however, the flan is nothing like a flan at all! As for the weekend tart, called "tarte monge," which used to cost just over €3.50, it has not only gone over €4 but also been reduced by a third! That's completely unacceptable! The ready-made meals in trays are decent... avoid fish that's too hot... especially since it's often leftovers from the day before... the quiches remain the local favorites... as for the "baguette monge," the 2.5 cm crust on each end is laughable, except for connoisseurs... in a little while, they'll be baguettes! And the price is outrageous! As for the waiters, they do what they can because the customers are often in a hurry, even aggressive. (Not all of them, thankfully) the waitresses at the terrace shop remain remarkably friendly and considerate with customers, many of whom are foreign. To sum up, either you raise the prices or you reduce the portion sizes, but NOT the second option! Best regards
