25/10/2026: This is our favorite Hippopotamus, and we eat there every time we're in Nice! We always receive a very warm welcome from the friendly, helpful, and competent staff! A special mention goes to Jennifer, who is absolutely lovely. She's very professional, loves her job and people, and it shows. Thank you so much for the excellent service and conversation when we dined there twice this month! The restaurant is very clean, well laid out, and beautifully decorated. The meats are delicious, perfectly grilled, and cooked to perfection! There's a great selection of sides and sauces (the sautéed potatoes, the gratin dauphinois, and the green beans are absolutely amazing!). The dessert selection is also good, and the ice cream is delicious! The portions are generous, and the value for money is excellent. The atmosphere is also very friendly! It's always a great pleasure to come to the Hippopotamus Steakhouse Nice Massena, and we highly recommend it! Thank you so much to the whole team, and keep up the good work!

27/10/2026: We stopped here for lunch. I really liked the "Caesar salad". It was better and richer than the one we had at a restaurant on the Champs-Élysées.

14/10/2026: Waiters were friendly and attentive and the food was okay. The inside asthetic is cute but light fixtures were quite dusty. The toilets smelt and the hand drier particularly was disgusting! I would not want to eat there again ☹️

06/10/2026: I'm not from the area, but I used to come to this Jeanson tea room whenever I visited my family in Lens. I went on Saturday, hoping to enjoy my usual cakes, but I discovered it had changed ownership and was now called Chez Sébastien. The cakes had changed too. The friendly service I was used to was completely gone. It was incredibly crowded because it was the street fair, but the staff couldn't cope at all. There were four or five of them behind the counter, and yet no one seemed to know what to do. We wondered what they were doing. The young waitress taking orders was completely lost. People ordered cakes, she couldn't remember anything, and she asked me, "What did they order again?" It was a real disgrace! I thought I could get my cakes and go sit at my table, but I was told they would be brought with the coffee. As a result, they brought us three different orders before we finally received our actual order. Absolutely no organization, a complete disaster! In short, I didn't recognize the tea room of my childhood, and I won't be going back anytime soon.

04/10/2026: My best friend left for her train when she finished her grenadine. We stayed a little longer and then left ourselves. I just found out that she had already paid for our table when she left, but we were still charged when we went to the counter. They couldn't even be bothered to tell us it was already paid. Whether it was an oversight or an rip-off, I have no idea. Luckily, we were only there for a drink and not to eat.

03/10/2026: We just left this brasserie. The welcome was appalling, and the friendliness was nonexistent. At a table for three, I asked the waitress not to remove the cutlery next to me because the other person was in the restroom. She replied irritably that it was the same thing, even though the other person's belongings were on the seat, not in the place opposite me. Furthermore, she threw the menu cards onto the table. If you're not happy or fed up with people, find another line of work. And the same goes for the young man behind the bar who didn't even offer a greeting or a smile when we asked him where the restrooms were. We left before ordering, especially considering the prices on the menu and the poor quality of the service and welcome.

09/09/2026: I went into this bakery for the first and last time. The saleswoman was unfriendly. I bought a ham and vegetable sandwich. What a mistake! The bread was soggy, the lettuce was rotten, and the tomatoes weren't fresh. The sandwich was clearly yesterday...

14/08/2026: The service and food were deplorable; There were three of us, and we had to order drinks at the counter and then collect our own glasses. After that, we ordered three main courses, which took a good hour to arrive. The taste and texture were disgusting. Each piece of meat was as tough as shoe leather, and its only flavor was that of a griddle that hadn't been cleaned in a long time.

We thoroughly enjoyed dinner and the setting is truly magnificent. We will definitely be back because we didn't have time to take advantage of all the facilities offered (swimming pool, ping-pong, bicycles, etc.).

01/10/2026: A wonderful discovery! We had a fantastic meal; everything was truly excellent. Special mention goes to the homemade fries, which were delicious and perfectly cooked. I particularly enjoyed the fillet with mirabelle plums, a beautiful combination of flavors, generous and full of taste. Everything seemed fresh, and the dishes were prepared with care. A big thank you also to the waitstaff for the quality of service, their warm welcome, and their kindness. It's truly a pleasure to be greeted with a smile and such attentiveness. I highly recommend this restaurant, both for the quality of the food and the service. We will definitely be back!

30/09/2026: Honestly, for the price, there's nothing to complain about! The staff is very friendly, and the lady who handles the evening distribution is fantastic. However, the quantity and quality have really changed since the meal price went down to €1 for everyone. Sometimes it's so crowded that we don't even have time to eat, and for students who are really struggling, it's difficult… Unfortunately, I really hope the meal price goes back to €3 for non-scholarship students. If that could restore the quality of the school cafeterias, it would be great.
