01/10/2026: What a delightful surprise this charming restaurant was, tucked away this evening on the dimly lit Rue St. Laurent... We tiptoed in, afraid of disturbing the two artists bustling about in the kitchen. The welcome was gentle and serene, much like the ambiance emanating from the understated yet warm decor. We ordered the dishes listed on the small chalkboard that served as the menu. We were eager to discover the creations presented to us by the young man who also worked at the kitchen counter. The mere description of each dish's composition was a poem, an invitation to travel. There seemed to be so many ingredients in each dish: vegetables, fruits, infusions, compotes, spices, flowers, and oils of every kind. We were curious to taste this culinary inventory. After a few minutes (everything unfolded before our eyes, from the preparation to the cooking and plating of each dish, with a genuine rapport between the two chefs), we were served delicious food. Everything came together perfectly in this starter called Ajo. The cherry tomatoes arranged in a garland around the plate and the strawberry wedges beautifully complemented the chilled almond soup, smooth and generously flavored with garlic and other, less-than-perfect notes (balsamic vinegar? Sesame oil?). We loved it! Thomas ordered a sea bream, tender and meltingly soft, served on a bed of slender zucchini and a pepper compote, along with many other ingredients. I enjoyed a basil and zucchini risotto, topped with a magical emulsion sprinkled with flowers. Absolutely divine! We didn't have time to try the desserts, as we were already running quite behind schedule for the evening. We're sure they would have been a delight for all five senses! We'll have to wait for another (very) time. Thank you to the two artists who took us on a journey into their culinary passion (for a reasonable price and in perfect portions). Come here to this charming restaurant, almost hidden from the street. Venture a few hundred meters away from the "Pizza Wharf" to immerse yourself in this delicious and unique world.

26/09/2026: The Ajo Bianco starter was a true journey for the taste buds thanks to the marriage of almond, cherry tomato, pomegranate, and strawberry. The main course also made a strong impression. The sea bream melted in the mouth, as did the eggplant with its small zucchini blossoms in miso. As for dessert, it was a wonderful fusion of homemade strawberry sorbet, tender rhubarb, raspberry, and poached fruit. The wine was very well chosen to accompany these flavorful dishes. 13/09/2026: CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP FROM AUGUST 2026... Part of the name remains, "L'Ami Rabel," but that's where the connection ends. It's no longer a gourmet restaurant. The dishes are good, but not as high-quality. The service is so-so, and the tables, without tablecloths or placemats, and without plates and cutlery, are not welcoming... Disappointing

16/09/2026: An excellent experience at Café du Nord, in a setting that immediately gives the impression of extending your vacation. The view of La Rochelle harbor greatly enhances the enjoyment of the moment. You can soak up the lively atmosphere of the quays, the maritime ambiance, and that special gentleness that makes you want to stay at the table rather than leave. I chose the seafood salad, which I found truly excellent. A very pleasant dish to enjoy in this setting, flavorful and perfectly in keeping with the spirit of the place. This is precisely what you expect from a restaurant on the harbor: a dish that brings pleasure and doesn't rely solely on the scenery to guarantee the success of the meal. But above all, I want to commend the quality of the service. We were there during the La Rochelle Fiction Festival, with all the crowds that entails, and the staff was absolutely delightful. Despite the busy atmosphere, the service remained efficient, friendly, and attentive. We never felt rushed or treated like just another customer to be served before moving on to the next. Maintaining this level of service during such a busy period deserves to be highlighted. Efficiency didn't overshadow friendliness, and that's what made the experience so enjoyable. You can fully appreciate your meal and the setting while feeling truly welcome. An excellent salad, a beautiful view, and a team that remained top-notch despite the crowds. All the ingredients were there for a wonderful time and a little taste of vacation amidst the festival. Well done and thank you to the whole team. A place I will gladly return to!

13/09/2026: A starter, main course, and dessert for €23, including wine and coffee, is a good deal, especially considering the quality and quantity. The staff are friendly. I recommend it.

25/09/2026: Tout simplement LA meilleure adresse que je connaisse à Pau. Les prix sont absolument raisonnables aux vues de la qualité proposée. La carte change régulièrement pour s'adapter aux produits de saison et le choix de tapas est une tuerie ! Des équipes en cuisine et au service ultra compétents, vous êtes certains de passer un bon repas au Vintage Café.

21/09/2026: We just ate at this small restaurant, which was equally refined and enjoyable. The staff wasn't at full strength this evening, yet the waitress served us with a smile and enthusiasm despite the truly unpleasant complaints from other customers. We had a wonderful time and will gladly return.

08/10/2026: A beautiful spot with panoramic views of Campomoro Bay. Impeccable service, delicious and generous meals. The mirt was delightful! Bravo.

30/08/2026: A great stop after our walk between Saint-Philibert and Trévignon. We stopped simply for a beer and received a very warm welcome. The service was quick, efficient, and friendly, and above all, there was a superb view of the port of Trévignon. A perfect place to take a break and enjoy the surroundings. We loved it and will gladly return.

22/08/2026: Friendly welcome, good food. But as in many places, some drinks are sold in 33cl bottles but served in 25cl bottles.

17/08/2026: We arrived for dinner looking for something traditional and found ourselves in a very nice restaurant, with kind and friendly staff who gave us expert advice! We opted for the daily menu, which left us extremely satisfied. See you soon!

16/09/2026: My first experience at this neighborhood coffee shop, which I often walk past, was unfortunately a huge disappointment. The matcha was probably the most watery I've ever had: a lot of water, no balance, no crema, and no texture. There were three of us, but the waitress didn't remember our orders. Then, she forgot part of mine. When I reminded her, she ended up giving me a slice of lemon cake instead of the banana bread I'd ordered, something I only realized once I got to the office. Flies were buzzing around the cakes displayed in the window. Dish covers or covers would be a welcome addition. I don't recommend it.

Everything was perfect from start to finish: the food was absolutely delicious, the service was exceptionally pleasant and attentive, and the atmosphere was truly cozy and welcoming. This place might not look like much from the outside, but it's definitely worth a visit. We had a fantastic time and I'll definitely be back! A delightful surprise 😊

19/09/2026: We received a very warm welcome; the staff made us feel at ease as soon as we arrived with our children. As for the food, frankly, I had the duck breast 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾🔥, and my wife and children thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you. We'll definitely be back. I highly recommend it.

23/09/2026: Almost 9 euros for a bad espresso and an abominable cappuccino. We wanted to refuse the cappuccino but were forced to (it must have had whipped cream in it, which has no place in a cappuccino). The waiter then thought it appropriate to tell us it was a "French-style" cappuccino. I think the cost price of the cappuccino we were served must be less than 30 cents, and it would have been better to throw it away and try to satisfy the customer who had already waited more than 20 minutes.

23/09/2026: I ordered a cappuccino and a coffee. The cappuccino was a glass of foam with cocoa powder on top. I asked the waiter if that was a cappuccino, and he got annoyed... Price: €9.30
