29/10/2025: I'm really disappointed with this establishment. I was on holiday in Mimizan last week with my godson. They didn't even give me my change for my €20 note, claiming I hadn't seen it. I complained to the staff, who told me it was my responsibility to watch my money and that he "wasn't my father." As a person with a cognitive disability, if I hadn't noticed, they would have kept the €16 for themselves. They are real thieves and dishonest, and on top of that, they humiliated me in front of my godson. I will never go back to that bar!

02/11/2025: To celebrate my mother's 96th birthday, we decided to go to La Chaumière in Villeneuve-sur-Allier. And there, what a surprise! We were greeted by the owner, smiling and charming, in her warm, country-style restaurant. Right away, even before sitting down, we already felt a bit at home! We ordered our set menu (€12) and soon after, a starter arrived: beautifully presented beef carpaccio, followed by a piece of chicken on a bed of cabbage, accompanied by mushrooms and potatoes—all absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned, and just the right amount of spice…and a dessert of rice pudding (just like in the old days). We thought to ourselves, it's impossible to get such a meal for that price! We chatted a lot with our hostess, Sophie. She and her husband, both originally from Belgium, took over this hotel-restaurant a year ago. For us, it was a real success... We truly felt Sophie's dedication to doing everything to satisfy her customers; we were pampered, even receiving a gift for Mom's birthday! We certainly won't wait for another birthday to return to La Chaumière and encourage all readers of this message to do the same. A must-visit. Thank you, Sophie.

02/03/2026: A delightful surprise on this beautiful day for Grandmothers' Day. The cuisine was hearty yet refined, with innovative flavors. The waitress was efficient and pleasant, and the dining room, with its warmly decorated stone walls, was a truly lovely culinary experience on the Planèze plateau.

04/03/2026: I came one evening recently and unfortunately there was only one starter available… and the menu wasn't the same as the one online because it's winter… The welcome was really very good, the staff were pleasant and professional, no complaints there. They kept reminding us several times that everything was "freshly produced," which is true for some of the menu items. €31 for the duck breast is already expensive considering the portion size, but the desserts were the most disappointing. The €10 chocolate lava cake wasn't labeled as being mass-produced, and at that price, you expect something homemade, not something from a supermarket. The same goes for the €10 tiramisu; while homemade, the portion was really tiny, and frankly, it left much to be desired. I'm perfectly willing to pay for a good restaurant; I don't mind paying more when the quality is there. But the desserts alone are a deal-breaker. It's a shame, because with such a warm welcome, there's potential, but the value for money just isn't there. On leaving, I even regretted not going to the restaurant just upstairs; at least there was a bit more atmosphere, and I think they wouldn't have forgotten us at the end of the evening 👍🏼.

08/03/2026: I came at lunchtime. The wait wasn't long. The place is very large, which slightly dampens the vibe and atmosphere, but otherwise everything was great. Delicious, reasonable prices, and fast service.

11/01/2026: We celebrated my father's 80th birthday at this restaurant, and everything was absolutely perfect. The meal was delicious from start to finish. The service was impeccable, with a special mention for the waitress, who was lovely, attentive, and very professional. The setting is truly superb, ideal for such an important family occasion. A big thank you to the entire team for contributing to this wonderful celebration. We will gladly return!

08/03/2026: Went to the restaurant for valentine's day in February and I can honestly say we were quite disappointed and will not be back. We had to ask for the menu, water and our drinks. 30 minutes into the reservation we were still waiting. If you come here, plan to be here for at least 3 hours. The service is incredibly slow. Everyone was complaining around us and we had to ask them to speed it up so we could make an appointment later, to which we were answered they would do their best but they could probably do nothing and we would just have to skip out on the rest of the meal if we were in a hurry (mind you, this was 2 and a half hours into the meal already and we had only gotten 2 out of the 4 plates). We took the lobster and caviar menu, which was just not up to par. We left feeling disappointed and angry at the staff.
