Despite the crowd, our order was taken efficiently, and all the staff were welcoming and professional. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, thanks to you! 24/09/2026: We stopped at this restaurant last night. Despite some negative reviews, we wanted to try it. The setting is idyllic. The welcome was very warm. We were delighted with all our dishes. And it's the only restaurant with such a beautiful view. The menu is reasonably priced considering the quality of the food. We highly recommend it; we had an excellent evening. Thank you!

05/10/2026: Unfortunately, our experience at Maxim’s was disappointing from start to finish. We waited far too long to order our first cocktails, then again to place our food order. Service remained inconsistent throughout the meal: our oysters arrived with only one finger bowl, a side salad was forgotten until dessert, and we had to ask three times for butter. We also noticed neighboring tables repeatedly following up on items they had ordered, so the service issues did not appear limited to our table. At one point, a waiter was visibly scolded in front of guests, which added to an uncomfortable atmosphere. The live “jazz” music was also surprisingly poor and, rather than adding to the elegance of the room, became distracting at times. Even the table setup felt poorly maintained. The lamp at our table was hardwired with a cord running alongside the table, and staff repeatedly stepped on it, causing the lamp to go out. At one point, two staff members had to manipulate the wire to get it working again. My husband also believed he could see exposed wiring. The setting is beautiful and historic, but the food itself was mediocre and did not make up for the service, atmosphere, or maintenance issues. Given Maxim’s reputation and price point, we expected a much more polished experience.

24/10/2026: We visited this restaurant in April 2026 and it was a wonderful discovery. We promised the manager we'd come back with our children. The welcome and the food were once again excellent. A big thank you for the atmosphere and the rum tasting 😉. We had a lovely evening and highly recommend it. The Saint-Malo team.

16/10/2026: How to treat a Parisian couple, when they order a cheese board to share, like gullible tourists: serve them Camembert, which isn't even the most expensive cheese. Do the same with a piece of Bleu cheese instead of Roquefort (one piece for two!!!). Garnish it all with bits of rancid walnut kernels and voilà, all served with a big smile from the waiter. The board was truly a paltry size. I would have liked it to come with fig jam, for example, even if it meant adding a few euros to the bill. Never again.

24/03/2026: The menu wasn't misleading; when it came to homemade, it was truly homemade. However, the duck confit with gratin dauphinois, or other traditional French dishes, were tasteless, dry, and clearly mass-produced reheated fare. It's a shame because the location is nice and the service is quite efficient.

01/11/2025: The welcome at this restaurant is warm and friendly. My starter, a stracciatella with roasted tomato cream, olive oil, and basil, was delicious, fresh, and generous. I loved it! I highly recommend it. A little tip for those who like spicy food: add several drops of Tabasco sauce. It's a perfect match! Their country bread is fresh and crusty, which greatly enhances the experience. Well done to the whole team! Keep up the good work!

06/09/2026: A stay initially planned for 3 days, slightly extended due to a mechanical issue. A very pleasant stay: the welcome, service, rooms, and food were all excellent. All in a magnificent setting. Thank you to the entire team and the owners.

06/09/2026: A fantastic place! A very welcoming atmosphere, a lovely team, and truly delicious food. You immediately feel right at home! And what's more, the restaurant is ideally located. A real treat, I recommend it 100%!

26/08/2026: The location is nice, BUT the drinks we ordered were either sold out (freshly squeezed orange juice), the fruit juices were at room temperature (30 degrees Celsius), the draft beer was served in a syrup glass, and, most importantly, diluted with water! Advice: Avoid it! Sincerely, a very disappointed resident of Nîmes…

20/10/2026: Excellent crêperie. We had lunch with friends and were so lucky to have been able to eat there as it was their last day open. We thoroughly enjoyed it 😋

Impeccable and prompt service, exquisite and flavorful dishes, and a refined atmosphere made for a delightful experience at the Manoir du Soleil d’Or. We recommend, weather permitting, enjoying an aperitif on the terrace and taking in the lovely view. Don't miss the sardines as a starter, the sea bass as a main course, and the soufflé for dessert.
