07/01/2026: Amazing food and SUPER friendly and helpful staff/owners!

15/12/2025: We had lunch, the meal was good. However, the service was not at all friendly, and for that reason alone I won't be going back.

26/05/2026: A passionate traveler, it was by chance that I stumbled upon the Lion d'Or. And of course, this place left its mark. Normally, I don't bother reviewing the places I stay because everything is so sterile, so similar, and original, unconventional places have little or no reason to exist... But seeing the reviews and ratings piqued my curiosity and led me to dig deeper and understand. The owner is one of those people who are bursting with energy, talkative, intelligent, with a strong and memorable personality. Ultimately, I'd say divisive. But what an evening spent dining with other travelers and the owner! A feast, hastily prepared by our ever-attentive host, peppered with shared experiences and humor. These kinds of moments are part of travel, and they leave such a lasting impression. So yes, it's far from the norm. But if everything becomes standardized, what place is left for such unique individuals? See you soon, my friend. PS: Practice your chess! ;)

26/05/2026: An unpretentious stopover hotel, nestled within the ramparts of an old castle. Delicious and comforting cuisine. Jean Michel will welcome you with spontaneity and kindness!

04/09/2026: I had a drink at the start...then discovered the establishment also served food. I sat down at a table and ordered a duck breast...very good! Cooked perfectly! A wonderful discovery! I plan to return for other dishes.

04/08/2026: Very good meat, at a reasonable price.

25/10/2026: So, the welcome was mediocre, a bit overwhelmed, and the service was slow. Drinks and cakes were overpriced (€8 for a slice of cake...). I ordered a Belgian hot chocolate, which was rather average, served in a cup, and that was it. Even the local pub or bistro does better; not a single square of chocolate or a biscuit with it... In short, go somewhere else.

26/09/2026: A wonderful discovery in Obernai. The charcuterie and cheese platters were generous, beautifully presented, and above all, delicious, featuring flavorful products. The setting is pleasant and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing time. Special mention goes to the staff, who were truly outstanding: welcoming, smiling, and attentive. We have absolutely no complaints; we had a fantastic time and will gladly return.

13/09/2026: After a long, unexplained wait and speaking with the waitress, who was alone in the establishment, I was very disappointed by her response. Apparently, another table had left, just like me. It's worth noting that this had already happened three weeks prior. Having been a customer of the 55, I will not be returning.

24/05/2026: I thoroughly enjoyed my meal; the dish was delicious, the sauce original. The welcome was very warm. The decor was also well chosen. A highly recommended establishment.

01/11/2026: I'm a regular morning customer, as I drink my coffee every morning before work and I'm always very well received. I don't even have to order from the waitress because she already knows what I want. Twice in a row, I've been very disappointed with the afternoon service. One afternoon, I wanted to have a coffee on the terrace. The waiter brought me the coffee, but when I asked for a glass of water, it never arrived. I mentioned it to him before leaving. His response was, "That's not my problem." The second time, again on the terrace, there were four of us, and he refused us entry before we were even seated, saying the restaurant was closing! Since when does the Grand Café close at 3 pm? Basically, never go there in the afternoon!

30/10/2026: Accustomed to coffee and a pain au chocolat every morning before work, I was served by a pleasant and attentive waitress on the terrace. I wanted to have a drink one Saturday afternoon, alone as usual. But I was turned away as soon as I sat down on the terrace by a young man who, without asking what I wanted to drink, told me the restaurant was closing and I was asked to leave. So I had a drink at Café Bancel instead.

13/10/2026: I was with my children, and the owner was very unpleasant. He played his music extremely loudly and wouldn't put down his tablet. Unfortunately, I saw a mouse scurry through the kitchen, and there was a hair in my food.

04/10/2026: Change the Chef! Worst food I ever ate in my whole life. The smallest oysters, the worst risotto with frozen mushrooms, straight out of the freezer. Waiter didn't care that food was left uneaten on the table, he just piled the plates on top of each other and asked if we would like dessert. Albeit asking for the menu cause I was still hungry, and asking if it's the same chef who would be cooking, I ordered the Trout, which was presented uncooked as per picture. Tourist trap 100%, please change the chef if you'd like to improve.

21/08/2026: My husband and I were served by a lovely cashier today. I think her name badge said Pauline. It's so nice to be served by such friendly people! (They're the couple from the Eco Plus ice cream shop.)

15/08/2026: Parking lot under renovation with solar carport. The spaces are a bit small due to the concrete blocks at the base of the carports.

09/10/2026: Excellent Asian cuisine, I highly recommend it. The atmosphere is a bit dated, but the food is excellent. Go without hesitation!

13/09/2026: A restaurant I've been going to for years. Whether as a couple or with friends, the food is homemade, delicious, and made with fresh ingredients. The welcome is always very warm. It's been run by the same people for many years, and the quality has never changed. I highly recommend this place, which is also very clean.

09/07/2026: We often come to the casino to play the slot machines while sipping a cocktail, then head to the Lodge restaurant for dinner. We're never disappointed: a good selection on the menu, delicious dishes of high quality and generous portions. The music playlist is relaxing (not mind-numbing)...in short...long live the Hauteville casino and its team! 💫

24/06/2026: Great restaurant but now in summer 2026 so far (24 juin) this listing on maps continually shows that it is temporarily closed and when we walked by it looks closed. Owners should update status if it is open.

07/05/2026: Our favorite place in Villefranche. The service is outstanding, the staff is friendly and efficient. The food is delicious! We have been coming here for more than 15 years and have NEVER been disappointed.

13/09/2026: At first, I was skeptical. In the end, the food actually tastes really good (we had beef rib steak and duck). They really need to pay a bit more attention to the restrooms!
