28/07/2026: We ate there last summer (and were disappointed), but we gave it another chance this year. Verdict: disappointed both times! 2025: - My 4-year-old daughter got 3 wasp stings in ONE meal, the terrace was swarming with them! The staff offered nothing to help my daughter (no ice pack or anything), they didn't even come to check on her even though they saw what was happening (a child screaming 3 times during a meal doesn't go unnoticed). - Very slow service. - But the pizzas were alright. 2026: - The terrace was still swarming with wasps, a nightmare trying to have a peaceful snack. The neighboring tables were struggling just like us. - Extremely slow service even though we only ordered 4 crepes for our snack. - The crepes were awful. I was quite disappointed and upset because, considering the price of the crepes, I don't understand how they could be so badly cooked! They weren't cooked at all. My daughters didn't eat a thing, even though we're talking about 4 and 5-year-olds who are usually very greedy. - The staff isn't very friendly; they respond very curtly when we ask where the restrooms are, etc. The next day we tried the terrace next door: "Le Refuge." We were won over, and I'm going to leave them a review too (wasp traps absolutely everywhere and incredibly effective because we didn't see a single one bother us; they were all caught in the traps. Chez Papaz should take note... The woman who served us (probably the manager) and the servers are super friendly, a very family-oriented atmosphere. The manager takes the time to chat with each customer, making everyone feel valued. She had a lovely chat with my daughters and gave them a small pack of crayons... we were won over!). We won't be trying Chez Papaz a third time.

14/07/2026: We had a lovely time; the owner was very welcoming, friendly, and had a great sense of humor, and the meal was perfect. We highly recommend it.

26/05/2026: Indeed, we share the most recent reviews! Very disappointed, far too expensive for the quality of the meal. The salads at €16, when they're generously filled, are a nice touch... but when you see them arrive... there's practically nothing in them. The set menu... not much better, with just a small potato... the exorbitant prices of the desserts... in short, the bill was a hefty €137 considering what we actually got on our plates! We left hungry, it's truly outrageous, you really need to rethink your approach. Don't be fooled by the restaurant's attractive exterior; it's not everything. The service was pleasant, though, with a very friendly waiter. In short, we wanted to celebrate Mother's Day early... but it was a bust for this restaurant; we absolutely do not recommend it. This was mentioned to the owner on the bill, but he didn't offer any compensation.

11/07/2026: My opinion of the restaurant and the quality of service is truly exceptional, worthy of a four-star rating. I want to state this clearly and sincerely. The welcome was very professional, respectful, responsive, available, and incredibly efficient. Above all, the atmosphere was very calm and pleasant, with the servers attentive to our needs and questions. I found the service to be excellent in terms of quality, friendliness, kindness, generosity, honesty, humanity, and humility—a unique quality evident both in their daily work and in their approach to the restaurant. 01/07/2026: PINT SCAM - The "pints" of beer (€13 and watered down) are served in unmarked 38cl glasses. If you ask for a marked 50cl glass, the "waiter" (who probably tastes the glasses before serving them) will refuse and ask you to leave. Don't waste your time here; the location isn't great, the service is appalling, and the prices are completely outrageous. 26/04/2026: I had already visited years ago (2015, when it was still the Chalet Hotel). Since then, there has been a change of ownership, but the place remains just as lovely. I certainly wasn't disappointed. The welcome, the food, the kindness of everyone, and the possibility of staying as long as you like. It's an address that comes at a price, admittedly, but sometimes you have to treat yourself to these kinds of pleasures. Thank you.

04/04/2026: We booked the place for two nights with our friends for our 30th birthdays at the end of March! A real place to live with very comfortable rooms! I highly recommend it, both for the service and the exceptional location! A thousand thanks again to the whole team! Special mention to Fredo who treated us to delicious meals all weekend!

26/07/2026: Hateful lady! My wife suffers an autoimmune disease and we literally stood in her doorway for 10 seconds at 16:50 on Sunday July 26 - she couldn't care less about other people - despite all the money I spend here! It was a very slow time of day - she could have showed some small OUNCE of vompassion but she chose to be MEAN and TERRITORIAL! Never again will we come here. HORRIBLE!

22/07/2026: I went there to have breakfast, the best omelet ever. The waitress was really patient, love the vibe.

05/04/2026: After going there several times out of necessity because it's the only place where you can eat and have a coffee in the shade in the morning, the service and staff are completely unprofessional. They don't know the basics of restaurant service or customer service; it's a disaster. I won't go into details. I don't recommend it if you want to have a good time.

26/04/2026: A particularly unpleasant trainee waitress complained to every customer about the day's crowds (which was entirely predictable given the 100-meter marathon). This kind of attitude really discourages people from supporting local businesses if they spend all their time whining.

18/04/2026: A very disappointing experience. When I arrived, the cashier was on a cigarette break and preferred to finish it before serving me. I then ordered a panini, which was served cold, under the pretext that the machines were taking a while to heat up. Furthermore, he remained on the phone with his girlfriend the entire time, which made the situation even more unpleasant. A serious lack of professionalism.

17/06/2026: The worst experience of my life! We tried to order and the waiter told us, "I'm not going to serve you if you ask questions." So I asked to see the manager, who ignored me and told me, "I'm in a rush, look at the QR code."

08/07/2026: I've been several times and the employees are unpleasant. On top of that, they close their service well before the closing time indicated on Flunch's website. I arrived at 6:15 PM, and they told me they were already closed. I'm very disappointed; this isn't the first time this has happened to me at Flunch. You need to improve your service, otherwise you won't have any more customers.

08/07/2026: I just had a truly unbelievable experience at this establishment. I ordered three ice creams and two milkshakes. When they went to serve the drinks, they told me they were out of straws. The suggested solution? Drink the milkshakes with a spoon... Why not a ladle while we're at it? Between the endless wait, the unfriendly welcome, and now the lack of even the bare essentials for consuming what they sell, the service is deteriorating rapidly. Selling milkshakes without straws and considering that normal is simply unacceptable. A real disappointment.

15/06/2026: Great choice to stay for a few days in a cool and lively neighbourhood of Marseille, at walking distance to the Cours Julien. The price is very fair and the room accordingly rather basic (depending on the category one books of course). In general it was quiet in the room, but it can get quite loud when there are events on the hotel ground floor (even up until the 5th floor). Staff was always nice and helpful, just one day our room was not made up despite our request (via a sign left on the doorknob in the morning). Breakfast buffet (for 21€) was rich and had a good vegetarian selection, and there was even the option to have a lighter version for just 10€.

01/07/2026: I ordered a cake a few days in advance, only to be told after a 10-minute wait for no apparent reason before even looking for the cake, "We found the sticky note, but the cake isn't ready!" No apology or attempt to find a solution—completely unreliable!

29/06/2026: I bought a sandwich that was completely dry... I felt like I was eating a sandwich that had been left out in the open all day... and I also got a cookie, same impression, no taste at all... very disappointed.

10/06/2026: The staff are super friendly and greet you with a smile. The food is good and the portions are generous. We've booked a table for the 2027 Annot à Bloc event and, of course, Café du Commerce will be our meeting point.

09/05/2026: Beware of the waiter who looks like a small, blond-dyed dog, who prevents you from sitting at empty tables but prefers to reserve them for a larger (and invisible) clientele. Appalling service.

23/04/2026: I strongly advise against this establishment. The experience was very disappointing, particularly due to the bartender's behavior, which I found particularly aggressive towards women. This type of attitude is unacceptable and makes people feel uncomfortable. A place that is supposed to be welcoming should guarantee respect and safety for all its customers. I will not be returning.

22/07/2026: The daily special was perfect, excellent value for money. Warm welcome, very friendly staff. I had a great time.

02/07/2026: Watched England vs Congo here with a few locals and the bar man. Pints were reasonably priced and ice cold. Bar was welcoming and warmly. Cheers lads!
