Every time we're in Comps-sur-Artuby, we stop by simply for the sheer joy of it.

06/05/2026: What a wonderful discovery! I went to this restaurant for the first time and I have absolutely no regrets. From start to finish, the meal was a real treat, with delicious flavors and beautiful presentation. Furthermore, the welcome and service were top-notch, so what more can I say? Don't hesitate and go discover this place; you won't be disappointed.

27/03/2026: A lovely place to enjoy a coffee or other drinks, of course, and the food is excellent too. Plus, the terrace is very large and sunny, and the staff are incredibly friendly. Definitely worth a visit.
13/01/2026: Excellent value for money, fast and efficient service. The only downside is that it's a bit noisy in winter, but the terrace is very pleasant in summer.

02/05/2026: The menu is varied and the food is good; I would have given it 4 stars, but the welcome and service are truly excellent. No matter how many times I've been, the owner is incredibly welcoming and the servers are really friendly.
I highly recommend it, especially on the terrace when the weather is nice!

19/04/2026: Eight stays so far, the following are the reviews in chronological order – there won't be any more reviews, as we'll be passing by the hotel in the future:
Late November / Mid-December 2025: The owner has changed, and a new concept is in place: It's supposed to be more upscale, and guests staying longer are meant to at least partially replace the short-stay guests. However, the rooms are still furnished in their "old" style (in need of renovation), although the suites now have proper room numbers (for whatever reason), and as the first modernization effort, the menu was revised, and in the process, the Bresse chicken was removed. Oh well. In its place, there are now a few new dishes, including so-called house specialties (such as lobster). We tried these during our two stays but were disappointed. We were also disappointed because the always friendly gentleman who used to park our car in the garage was no longer available, and my wife was told she could park the car herself in the hotel parking lot. Oh well. Therefore: We adjusted our itinerary and are now traveling the Rhine-Main-Marbella route via Beaune/Besançon as an alternative first and last stop, respectively, and Tarragona as the second stop. They welcome overnight guests there, and the food is also good. Overall, though, it's a shame, as we really liked the riverside location and the old-school suites. Due to these changes, we're downgrading our rating from 5 stars to 4 stars.
At the end of June (Fridays) and the end of July (Saturdays) 2024: We booked Suite 8 well in advance and enjoyed a perfect stay on our "private" terrace in perfect weather. In June, we ordered the Bresse chicken again; there had been a change of chef. I remembered the chicken in February being better, but that could well be due to the hot summer temperatures. So, in July, we ordered the tasting menu, and here the chef truly demonstrated his skill: The menu, centered around tomatoes, was of outstanding quality, and the combination and preparation of the ingredients was a masterclass. Each guest received a bottle of Gosset Rosé and Rhône wine, the service was impeccable, and life is good! As some reviewers have rightly pointed out, the decor is dated (and the need for renovation will soon become more acute). Anyone looking for a modern 4-star hotel should stay elsewhere.
February 24 (Sunday): We stayed in a different suite (number 5), no conservatory, but with a lockable bedroom. Instead of the set menu, we had Bresse chicken baked in a pig's bladder, superbly prepared, preceded by a carabiniero as a starter, with a sorbet as an intermediate course. The Bresse chicken was incredibly well-prepared (truffled, with foie gras sauce, etc.) and served in two courses. A 48-hour advance booking is required; we will definitely be back! And thank you to the always excellent service at reception, garage service, the bar, and the restaurant!
December 23 (Saturday): The set menu remained very good, and the service was, as usual, outstanding.
The Bresse chicken was still excellent, and the service was, as always, outstanding. March 2023 (Saturdays): Suite etc. unchanged, but the kitchen and restaurant performance was even better than in December 2022: The "grand" menu included several individual dishes that could easily be rated 17 points or higher – very beautiful and creative, and thanks also to the hotel staff, who were once again incredibly friendly to us and our dogs.
December 2022 (Sundays): Very friendly and competent service, right on the river, river view from the room. Beautiful, spacious suite (room no. 8). Everything was very clean; even Swiss guests will feel at home... Restaurant: The head chef and team are "gods": Excellent quality of food, beautifully presented. In my opinion, the quality and service (as well as the prices) are equivalent to a Michelin star or 16 points in the Gault & Millau guide. We will gladly stop over again!
13/04/2026: A splendid 4-day stay with friends. A very warm welcome, and bicycle storage was available.
An idyllic terrace overlooking the Rhône.
Exceptional cuisine and wine list.
I highly recommend this establishment; it offers excellent value for money.

11/04/2026: This small village restaurant is definitely worth a visit; the food is made with fresh, local ingredients. The prices aren't exorbitant, and I recommend booking in advance as the dining room is small.

04/05/2026: Bad luck, a whole host of unprofessional people.
First, the waitress mistook a sea bass fillet for a piece of beef for my guest's dish.
Then my dish, a smash burger, was sent back to the kitchen, probably in a warming tray, only to return with the supposedly delicious sea bass fillet. That poor burger arrived as dry as a bone, practically inedible.
Since we'd already waited quite a while, I didn't send it back, which was a mistake.
Whose fault is it? The waiter's, the cook's, a subordinate in the kitchen? In short, a silly mistake to save money on a stupid hamburger that should have been remade.
It was also my mistake not to complain while I was there. Taking customers for fools to save a few pennies—that's perhaps why the restaurant wasn't full at lunchtime...

12/04/2026: The food was excellent, but a few things stood out to me:
- the waiter's rapid speech (a bald man) barely allowed time to respond; he was quite rushed, unwelcoming, and, moreover, didn't appreciate the presence of children at our table.
- a dessert was forgotten; we had to ask for it again.
- the waiters served the children's meals rather haphazardly, without asking what was for whom… we came with three children aged 8, 5, and 2, and had ordered two children's menus. And systematically, the waiters give them to the 8- and 5-year-olds, even though they were meant for the 5- and 2-year-olds (the 8-year-old eats like an adult).
- When we ordered wine, a waiter (a trainee, I think) took the order, then his colleague came back to our table because the first one hadn't actually understood the name of the wine we wanted.
- A knife suitable for meat would have been appreciated.
- The wait was quite long, which meant we spent over 2.5 hours in the restaurant in total.
- The crème brûlées were served in ramekins of different sizes (two large white ramekins and one small black one) without any explanation.
In short, the food was excellent (honestly, we all ate very well), but the service left much to be desired.

The setting is truly lovely and the atmosphere very friendly.
We ordered a charcuterie board and a roasted Camembert: everything was excellent, high-quality products, and beautifully presented!
I highly recommend it; we'll definitely be back 👍

A charming place full of character with generous and flavorful cuisine. Daily specials and desserts in addition to the regular menu. Amazing fries! Generous and delicious fish and chips. Go for it!
