08/07/2026: I came to dinner here with a friend last night because the restaurant has been taken over by a new owner. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food; the lamb shank with caramelized garlic sauce was delicious. The waitress was very kind and smiling. A very good evening, we'll be back!

11/07/2026: We came this evening (Saturday, July 11, 2026). Everything was perfect in terms of the welcome and service. However, Mrs. Vatel's son-in-law (her daughter Cathia's husband) was disrespectful to the customers! We were outside still eating when he went out to see his colleagues and let out a fart without even apologizing. It's shameful, and no gesture of remorse was made at the register, nor was there any apology. I am very disappointed.

10/06/2026: We ate lunch, the food is really good, only attitude a little bit lack of understanding. Server told us to speak French only, tourist could not learn languages of every country. They are in hospitality business and would be nice if they know at least basics of English like water and etc.

19/05/2026: The room where we spent the night was in the turret, very spacious with a lovely modern bathroom and a more traditional sleeping area. The view was beautiful. The only downside: very unpleasant noises from the plumbing/air conditioning all night long. We discussed it in the morning with a member of staff who seemed aware of the problem, but there didn't seem to be a solution. I recommend bringing earplugs. We also had dinner at the restaurant. It was quite good, the tables were well-spaced, which was nice, and the service was attentive. However, the decor is rather basic and lacks warmth; a touch of freshness and modernity would make a big difference. Overall, the location is good for exploring the region.

23/07/2026: Romantic dinner this Thursday, July 23rd, and I got so sick I vomited like never before! Food poisoning, I suppose! We will NEVER go back! What a shame!

22/07/2026: A little disappointed, it had been a while since I'd been there... I arrived at a table on the terrace which wasn't clean from the day before, the terrace floor was dirty (a pressure washing would have been appreciated). I ordered a complete galette without salad, whereas everywhere, especially in Brittany, it's served with the galette. So I had to pay an extra €2.90 for a few salad leaves (that's still expensive 😉). There was only one strawberry jam... The galette itself was good quality. The staff were competent and pleasant.

18/08/2026: A lovely establishment with a pleasant terrace and a beautiful view of the Puy de Dôme. The cuisine is simple and showcases local produce well. The service is dynamic and efficient, although a touch more smiles would have made the experience even more enjoyable. A friendly place to enjoy the setting and local cuisine.

01/08/2026: Absolutely excellent. It's a wonderful place to enjoy a delicious treat. The prices are certainly high, but sometimes less is more 🙂. Last time, I ordered a strawberry cake for 10 people: everyone was amazed by how delicious it was. What I appreciate most is that it's not too sweet. A huge thank you!

17/08/2026: During a short visit to Rodez, we needed to find a place for lunch. Just steps from the magnificent cathedral, we received a very warm welcome. A nice bonus was their willingness to accommodate a vegetarian option. The main courses and starters were excellent! Flavorful and fresh. Don't hesitate!

02/07/2026: We came to enjoy half a dozen oysters as a family. A very warm welcome, oysters of exceptional quality, and for those who don't like oysters, there are mussels and shrimp. You can also buy and take away. Perfect, and we'll definitely be back! 😉 And thank you for the carafe of fresh water.

30/06/2026: BEWARE!!! We ordered 12 oysters and one was dead with a very unpleasant smell. We told the waitress, who very politely went to tell the manager/owner... to our surprise, she looked at her and made a face and gestures that suggested... they're tourists.... I will never go back to that place. There are other restaurants to choose from. I didn't complain to ask for anything in return, just so they would know, because it's my money and I decide how I spend it.... And I won't be going back to that place.
