18/05/2026: We stumbled upon this establishment by chance during a stroll. It was the attractively presented chalkboard menu that caught our eye. The waiter quickly took charge of us and offered us a table that suited us perfectly. Unfortunately, what followed was a series of disappointments, starting with the menu itself: a simple photo of the chalkboard printed on a white sheet of paper and slipped into a plastic sleeve. This immediately set the tone and revealed a clear lack of professionalism. We ordered an aperitif, followed by mussels marinière with aioli and fries for my husband, and fish soup for me. The mussels, served in a shallow bowl, were small, dry, and overcooked. The aioli advertised on the menu was missing, and the fries were clearly mass-produced despite the "homemade" label. Other dishes and preparations also appeared to be mass-produced, contradicting the same claim. The fish soup wasn't hot enough: the cheese didn't melt, the soup was very thin, and almost tasteless. The only positive point was the aperitif: the white Martini, hard to mess up since it comes straight from the bottle, was served in a double measure. The Aperol Spritz was also well-served and properly measured. A German couple seated next to us experienced the same problems, or even worse, compounded by communication difficulties. When ordering, they were told three times that dishes were unavailable. They finally had to choose out of desperation, and it wasn't until the fourth attempt that their order was confirmed… not to mention the errors in their drink order. This experience was very disappointing, and we strongly recommend avoiding this place. It's rare to find an establishment displaying such a level of unprofessionalism.

The wait was very long (I waited almost 30 minutes), but it was worth it! I would definitely come back to try other sandwiches. 30/04/2026: One star because we can't give less... We sat on the (empty) terrace for 25 minutes and no one came to take our order. So we went to Kraft Point right across the street, where we were served in 4 minutes despite the crowds (plus they had a great selection of beers). I recommend it!

11/07/2026: So, overall, good/very good value for money. As for the food, I only ordered one dish; it was quite good, a bit too garlicky for my taste, and the vegetables were already getting cold when it was served. I'm not sure, but I think the plates weren't reheated. Aside from that, the meat was cooked as ordered, and they made an effort with the presentation. The service itself was good, but unfortunately, I had ordered a Pinot Noir with the meal, and it wasn't served until I reminded them. Mistakes happen. Apart from this "incident," everything was fine with the service, and the waiters were pleasant. The atmosphere is more restaurant than brasserie, although if I understood correctly, they have a "brasserie bar" area without food service, so that's something to consider. In any case, the "restaurant" area is large, with mirrors everywhere, and quite nice. All in all, I'd give it a 16/20.

12/06/2026: A great restaurant with a convenient location. They serve arguably the best onion soup here—very tasty and rich. The staff is responsive: they quickly responded to my request, helped me charge my phone, and recommended some truly delicious meat. We were left with nothing but pleasant memories.

07/05/2026: We had booked with great enthusiasm, but unfortunately, we couldn't even stay for dinner because of the reception we received. It's truly sad to see people working in such a wonderful profession without even knowing how to greet their customers with a simple "hello." We genuinely felt like we were bothering them. When we asked for some explanations about the menu, the responses were cold and mocking, as if our questions weren't legitimate. Faced with this attitude, we decided to leave. When we calmly pointed out the staff's behavior, the only response we received was: "Next time, we'll roll out the red carpet for you..." Fortunately, our evening didn't end there, as we ended up having a wonderful time at La Calanque Bleue restaurant.

11/06/2026: As a regular customer, I had a wonderful time yesterday, Wednesday, June 10th, in the late afternoon thanks to the warm welcome from a young saleswoman. Unfortunately, the atmosphere changed drastically this morning, Thursday, June 11th, at opening time. The welcome was very curt and passive-aggressive ("Hello, do you need any information?" in a tone that didn't exactly encourage me to order...). Things didn't improve: the terrace setup was chaotic (chairs and tables were moved aggressively), completely ruining our relaxing moment. It's a shame the experience is so inconsistent depending on the staff.

17/07/2026: What a disgrace! It's a shame we can't give zero stars. My friends and I consumed a lot, but they still charged us an extra 65 euros on top of our bill (which we had already paid). We realized we'd been ripped off, but after explaining all our payments, it was impossible to get the staff to understand anything... I absolutely do not recommend this place!

12/07/2026: We came for brunch on a Sunday morning... The view of the fountain was lovely, the portions were generous and delicious; the waiter was very pleasant... We highly recommend it, especially considering the price.

29/06/2026: I was very disappointed with my experience. The waiters were cold and unfriendly, which immediately created a bad atmosphere. The pizza I was served was almost burnt, making it difficult to eat. Paying €67 for a meal of this quality is truly unacceptable. I do not recommend this establishment in its current state.

28/06/2026: We dropped by unannounced and it was another success. Our friends were delighted, and we thoroughly enjoyed the anchovy dip and shared pizza. A warm welcome and excellent service. Thank you! I highly recommend it.

05/06/2026: It's a pleasure to have a buffet with French food, and with such friendly staff and servers, which is a definite plus. I highly recommend this place if you're ever in Saint-Dié.

29/06/2026: Very disappointed last night compared to previous visits. The oysters were served without bread, butter, or vinegar. The tuna, ordered rare, arrived very thin and overcooked...it really tasted like it came from a factory. For a bill of €164 for two, one would expect much better.

29/01/2026: I'd like to share my experience at this bar; I came to the Cock and Bull with two friends who were ordering drinks (important for later). Since I couldn't afford it, but still wanted to spend some time with my friends at a bar, I didn't order any drinks there. The beers are €8, which is understandable in the city center, but way out of my budget that evening. So I brought my own beer without thinking to ask permission, and I admit that was a mistake! I'm fully aware of it! However, one of the waitresses' reactions was completely disproportionate. She snatched the drink from me, spoke to me very aggressively, poured the beer on the floor, then crushed the can before leaving with enormous aggression and disrespect. I completely understand that a bar might refuse outside drinks, but there are ways to say it. A simple reminder or a ban on drinking would have been enough. Her attitude made me extremely uncomfortable and shocked other people around me as well. It was a huge scene and ruined the evening, even though everything was going well. It's all the more unfortunate because, apart from this incident, the bar seemed really cool: the atmosphere was good, the other staff members and customers were very friendly, and there was a good selection of drinks and food—no complaints there! The problem clearly wasn't with the establishment as a whole, but solely with this waitress's behavior, which is truly problematic. Thanks :)
