Generous burger for our son.
The daily special was very good and generous.
Okay, it was carbonara with cream… but it was good and the pasta was cooked perfectly.
The desserts are good too.
The pint of beer is among the cheapest in Saint-Lary.
Recommended.
10/02/2026: I went with some friends a few days ago, and they charged us twice. We asked for an explanation and were told that "the manager" would contact us on February 5th. We haven't heard anything since, and when we call, they hang up on us. We were ripped off out of 90 euros. I wouldn't recommend it at all; the food was nothing special and the service was just okay.

A loyal customer of La Palette for years, I remember it as a lively and welcoming Saint-Germain bistro, frequented by artists, gallery owners, and regulars, where the service fostered a sense of connection.
Today, that spirit is gone: exorbitant prices worthy of a luxury hotel without the service or quality, an incoherent menu with inflated prices, rushed service, and a cold, soulless atmosphere.
The result: a general feeling of unease. Parisians and regulars have deserted the place, replaced by tourists who come mainly to "Instagramm."
Yet, it wouldn't take much to restore the identity of this place steeped in history: a genuine welcome, more attention to detail, and consistency between the prices, the menu, and the service.
A bistro isn't just decor; it's a place to live.
18/01/2026: Expensive, cold, rushed:
it sounds like the restaurant's unintentional slogan.
A shame, because it's not exactly what you'd expect from a legendary Saint-Germain-des-Prés bistro.
I've worked right behind it for ages, I walk past it every day, and so I've had the opportunity to observe—and experience—its evolution. Let's be clear: this place isn't doing well. And no, it's not an accident, it's a deliberate decline.
First critical point: the atmosphere.
Once lively and welcoming, it's now dull, lifeless, and attracts a strange crowd.
Second point—equally crucial:
the management and the prices.
A young manager, clearly promoted too quickly, seems to think that running a historic Saint-Germain bistro involves gesticulating wildly, speaking curtly, and treating customers like walking bills. It lacks what can't be taught in school: experience, a welcoming attitude, adaptability, and respect, both for customers and staff. There's a palpable tension, a sense of injustice, between them. But people don't come here just for the place; they come for the people who inhabit it and bring it to life.
The decor is that of a bistro, but the experience is more like a sterile, mass-produced coffee shop belonging to a large soft drink company: a bland, ready-made drink, far removed from a typical Parisian bistro where people meet, talk, and connect—something essential to the neighborhood. You're served quickly, rushed even more quickly, and if you linger a little too long, you're clearly intruding. The art of making customers feel unwanted is almost mastered… but that's not exactly why people come here.
Add to that prices 30 to 40% higher than the rest of the neighborhood—already too expensive—with no justification in the food, the drinks, or the atmosphere, and the picture is complete.
I'm writing this reluctantly, after a period of negative observations (already shared with the staff). And yet, I keep going back. Like surely others, judging by the feedback here and there… but how long can I keep waiting?
Like going back to see a friend who's unwell, hoping that this time, things will be better.
Proof that the attachment is still there, even if the magic has largely evaporated.
A final word for the owners—whom I've never met there in several years. Perhaps that's also part of the problem. The turnover is noticeable; something's clearly not working.
This bistro deserves better than being on autopilot. All is not lost: the history is there, the clientele too—and they're waiting for you.
It wouldn't take much: put people back at the center, calm egos, and remember that a bistro isn't just about revenue.
It's an atmosphere. A soul.
It would be a shame if this place became just a memory, like so many other beautiful establishments in the neighborhood.
Come on... Pull yourself together!

And the presentation leaves something to be desired (roughly chopped mango with the skin on).
I don't recommend it...

09/11/2025: I had a wonderful meal at this restaurant.
For an aperitif, I enjoyed a red fruit kombucha. What a surprise to find such drinks in this restaurant! I loved it. I continued with the set menu. For a starter, the vegetable soup was equally delicious. Then, for the main course, a raclette-style borage with a side salad. And for dessert, a mirabelle plum tart. It was delicious.
I also greatly appreciated the quality of the service and the attentiveness of the very friendly waitress.
We ate our meal in the covered terrace area, which was bright and welcoming.
Thank you very much.
19/10/2025: There were 8 of us who came, we had little time because we had a ceremony right after, we asked to be served quickly. This was done and we ate really well, fresh and well-cooked produce. I recommend this restaurant.

30/01/2026: We had lunch at Brasserie du Bessard today, and honestly, we had a very good meal 👍👍👍 The quantity and quality were both excellent.
I had booked the day before, and I'm so glad I did, it was packed.
The only slight downside was the somewhat noisy atmosphere, but that was due to the coming and going of customers heading to the shopping center.
So it wasn't the restaurant owners' fault at all.
It was perfect, we'll definitely go back.
22/01/2026: I particularly enjoy sharing breakfast with my colleagues and meeting up right in the heart of Auchan Aubière, in the Bessard area.
Fast service, a wide selection of menus, and very reasonable prices: the perfect place to start the day right.

26/01/2025: The staff was very friendly and gave me two amuse bouche as a freebie, and even when I said I wouldn't eat dessert, they gave it to me as a freebie :)
I was able to enjoy my meal comfortably because the 4-5 employees who passed by without a single person kept asking me if the taste was good, if I was eating well, if I needed anything else, and if I needed anything, I could call them at any time! Plat was of course delicious 😊
25/01/2025: Impeccable service, nothing to say. But the prices are absurd: €21 for the cheapest entry, €10 for a bottle of Coke. It seems like it's meant to rip off tourists. Very disappointing.

28/01/2026: The food is excellent and the atmosphere at La Baraque is always remarkable. That's precisely why the experience was so disappointing.
It's a real shame, because the service was particularly unpleasant: a cold, pushy waiter, not a single smile encouraging us to clear our plates and pay the bill, even though we were there for the last seating (reservation at 9:45 pm) and it was only 10:30 pm.
We were celebrating a birthday with friends, a much-anticipated moment unfortunately ruined by this attitude... a far cry from the standard of this establishment, which we frequent every year, summer and winter.

26/09/2025: The waiter was extremely rude from the start. At one point he told me in a very rude way I had to move outside cause he needed my table for people that will eat lunch. I totally understand the need but they should have informed me before and for sure be polite about it. Also, the Coca Cola is 4.5€ definitely not worth it with this service. Not coming back for sure.
