29/06/2026: As long-time customers, we ordered two identical plates, each containing three pieces of meat that were tough and full of gristle. We pointed this out to one of the cashiers, who told us, "You're not the first..." No apology, no gesture of goodwill... It's a shame; it doesn't make us want to come back.

27/05/2026: Excellent! Encourage all these young people to continue our traditions of French cuisine, service, and a warm welcome. With all that, we ate very well; I thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend it. A big thank you to Lara for her hospitality, service, and smile.

27/07/2026: There were two of us with two large dogs. Thank you for accepting them. We ate on the terrace, the welcome was very warm, the staff very friendly, and the portions were very generous. I highly recommend it.

12/07/2026: Quick service, pleasant waiter, good and fresh. One year later, very disappointing today. Hot water served when it's 25 degrees outside, and a seafood platter that should be called "fried seafood."

24/06/2026: Very simple but a little gem with a room overlooking the Allier River. Good breakfast. The hotel also has a restaurant with a sheltered outdoor terrace in summer.

21/07/2026: The pizzas are very good, and the location is right in the center of Laruns. The price is reasonable, around €20 for a pizza and a drink. They speak Spanish.

19/07/2026: Excellent thin-crust pizzas and truly well-crafted salads with generous, high-quality toppings make this establishment a must-visit for a meal. Just improve the service and everything will be perfect! Well done!

25/07/2026: An excellent place to eat overlooking the beautiful Val castle. The main courses are excellent, and I was surprised that they brought us a platter of all the desserts on the menu so we could see the quantity and how they were presented! The servers are attentive, smiling, and in good spirits! Yes, one star is missing for the servers' attire... well, it's not very professional, it's hard to spot them. There's one where you can see his midriff, but oh well... what I think is that they should wear a restaurant t-shirt (with the logo) and a small apron with pockets so it's easier to identify the servers and represents the establishment.

25/07/2026: I've been a regular here for a long time. The setting is superb and the food is quite good. Admittedly, it's a bit pricey for such a remote spot. Let's just say the view comes at a price. However, when you're told at 7:30 pm that it's impossible to just have a drink because it's full, even though it's clear the place isn't packed, it stings a bit. It's a shame. We're hesitant to come back now... Back again this summer 2026, new owners. A pleasant surprise. Very good food at a reasonable price. A friendly welcome and updated furniture, which is much appreciated. If I had one small criticism, it's that we were surprised to hear that changing the side dish was an extra charge. Especially since the change in question was for fries that were already on the menu. A shame. Best of luck to the new owners.

22/12/2025: A SHAME — RUN AWAY! We chose Les Tables de Philippe because of its advertised "gastronomic" positioning, linked to Les Chalets de Philippe. The gap between the promise and the reality is unfortunately obvious. We came via the Gourmet Passport, which has already allowed us to discover some excellent gastronomic establishments, including some at reduced rates. The price paid therefore has no bearing on the standards or the legitimacy of our opinion. We were informed at the beginning of the meal that the current Italian chef had only arrived a few days or weeks prior. This information is important because it means that older photos and reviews visible on Google do not necessarily reflect what is offered today. The menu offered during our visit was as follows: – beef carpaccio, – pumpkin risotto with sausage pieces, – vitello tonnato, accompanied by raw vegetables (a simple bowl of salad combining lettuce and a little red cabbage), – aged, but very young, cheeses, – followed by a moist chocolate cake with yogurt sauce. Overall, it's very classic Italian cuisine: recipes lacking any particular creativity, predictable flavors, basic textures, and a presentation without any noticeable effort. It's acceptable, but unremarkable, and far from the claimed gastronomic level. The service was also subpar. One of the waiters spoke neither French nor English, only Italian, making any interaction difficult. His service was very abrupt, with no apparent etiquette. A second waiter was more conventional, pleasant, but offered nothing of value. No presentation of the dishes was offered: the plates were simply placed on the table, and the staff immediately withdrew. During our conversation with the owner, he explained that "this isn't French gastronomy, but haute Italian cuisine," which he claimed was the work of a chef trained at one of Capri's finest schools. He also implied that, as holders of the Gourmet Passport, our comments were of little consequence and that the restaurant would always be full anyway. However, when we visited, the restaurant was far from full, which raises questions about the consistency of his claims. The conversation took place in a tone that was not conducive to discussion and offered no real opportunity for self-reflection, further exacerbating our disappointment. We didn't take any photos—or rather, we didn't even consider it—as the presentation of the dishes was so poor. To get an idea, simply search for the dishes listed above on Google and look at the first corresponding Google Images result. Conclusion: If you're looking for a truly exceptional gastronomic experience, both in terms of food and service, this isn't the place for you. However, if you're looking for classic, decent, but nothing more, dishes, then this is the right place for you.

21/12/2025: We would like to share our experience regarding our dinner at Les Tables de Philippe in Chamonix. We had booked a six-course tasting menu for €95. Upon arrival, we were informed of a change of chef, which we accepted without difficulty. However, a new five-course menu was offered in its place, at the same price. Presented as a gourmet Italian menu, it unfortunately proved very disappointing. While the carpaccio was acceptable, it was rather simple. The next course, a pumpkin and sausage risotto, lacked any real finesse. The vitello tonnato was the most disappointing element: meat drowning in sauce, accompanied by a simple bowl of salad, whereas the menu advertised raw vegetables. As I don't eat raw vegetables, I asked for an alternative and was served mini-quiches that seemed to have been frozen, which is hardly acceptable in a restaurant claiming to be gourmet. The cheeses were bland, and the dessert—a chocolate cake with a yogurt sauce—was something you'd expect from a brasserie. Considering the price of the menu, it was a complete disappointment. Furthermore, the service was anything but gourmet. We should point out that we had the Gourmet Passport, and therefore only one of the two menus was charged. However, our complaint is not at all related to the amount paid, but rather to the quality of the meal, which fell far short of the standards expected of a gourmet menu. Finally, when we tried to express our disappointment to the owner, he was dismissive, arguing that having the Gourmet Passport didn't give us the right to complain. A regrettable and unprofessional reaction that only exacerbated our poor experience.

06/03/2026: Rediscovered this place, following the change of ownership I strongly recommend a visit, the new menu of savory crepes is top notch! A treat, and a very warm welcome.

29/06/2026: One-hour wait, dry burger, soggy fries, no salt on the table, no sauces despite repeated requests, and no apology or compensation. At €19 for a burger, it's a bit pricey.

28/06/2026: We were a group, and the waiter was very unpleasant. He consistently got our orders wrong (we asked for sparkling wine, and he brought us sparkling water). He never apologized and kicked us out an hour before closing time. Avoid this place.

21/06/2026: A disappointing experience. You can tell there's a lot of work being done in the kitchen, which is a shame because the service unfortunately doesn't live up to it. The front-of-house team was made up of very young trainees who seemed to be left to their own devices, without any real supervision or visible management. Even simple questions about the wines went unanswered. The most frustrating moment was when we asked to have our dessert inside because we were cold on the terrace. We were told it was complicated because the tables were already set for the next day. We then felt that the restaurant's organization took precedence over customer comfort. We finally ended our evening at Monte Cristo, where we were greeted immediately and with a smile. Finally, when it came time to pay the bill, it apparently wasn't possible to issue two separate bills for our group of two couples, one of whom had two children. A minor detail, perhaps, but one that adds to a series of small inconveniences throughout the evening. We also had the impression that we were bothering them and that they were mainly waiting for the service to end so they could close, even though it was only 10:15 pm.

09/03/2026: Very unpleasant staff who treat you like a cash cow....a pumpkin soup for €14 was good but really a catastrophic service, waiting in indifference.

13/02/2026: We had a very pleasant time as a family. A warm welcome and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

18/07/2026: We stopped at La Balagne for a cocktail, the only place in the area with two trees providing a welcome bit of shade this time of year. Besides the excellent cocktails, the warm welcome and the pleasant atmosphere on the terrace made us want to stay for dinner. The pizzas are truly excellent, and the red mullet fillets with pastis were a real treat. In short, a fantastic evening; you can go without hesitation. Thank you, La Balagne, for this lovely evening; we'll gladly return.

17/07/2026: The welcome was more than pleasant; I just left. Since I arrived very late at night, I was lucky enough to encounter a very kind lady who kindly gave me bottles of water and refused to charge me.

19/07/2026: Avoid this place at all costs, the welcome and service were terrible, we left without eating after waiting 1 hour and 10 minutes even though our order had been taken, they literally treated us like idiots.

29/05/2026: Was hoping to go there for dinner but the man turned us down because we didn’t have a reservation all for other people to come in as they please and not to mention all the seating inside was free too. We believe that it may be because we were tourists as we can’t think of any other explanation. Very disappointing experience and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone hoping for a meal.
