19/08/2026: A delightful surprise in Les Estables! Don't let the unassuming appearance of the building, nestled on the hills above the village, bordering the forest, put you off… La Maison Forestière is truly worth a visit! We had lunch there as a family and were won over by the set menu at €30, which offers incredible value for money. The menu inspires confidence right from the start: it showcases the many local producers who supply the establishment with fresh, carefully selected products. The starter, an Ardèche platter, is simply exceptional! A generous, colorful, and beautifully composed plate, where each little dish is a discovery: crispy goat cheese, pork terrine with chestnuts, falafel, green salad, lentils, melon and watermelon balls, caramelized onion, shredded red cabbage, olives, gherkins… and many other delightful surprises. The dish was so stunning when it arrived that we completely forgot to take a picture: we immediately devoured it! At that altitude, it's understandable that we were hungry! And above all, it was hard to resist such an appetizing plate… Then came the main course, with a choice of meat or fish of the day. We chose the pork loin, accompanied by a slice of herb-infused caillette (a type of pâté), wholegrain mustard, and a homemade sauce. And again, what generosity: four different side dishes: porcini mushroom purée, sautéed zucchini, risotto, and orzo with tomatoes. It was hearty, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. And dessert was the perfect ending to the meal: a plum and almond tart with whipped cream, a scoop of strawberry ice cream, blueberry panna cotta, and fresh fruit, all accompanied by a delicious verbena sauce. A true festival of flavors! The service is on par with the food: pleasant, friendly, and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. Kudos to the owners for this wonderful restaurant! Generous, locally sourced, carefully prepared, and incredibly fresh cuisine at a truly remarkable price. We absolutely recommend this place! And above all, don't let yourself be discouraged by some negative reviews which, in our opinion, don't reflect our experience at all. We had a fantastic time as a family and will definitely be back!

23/09/2026: The welcome was friendly and remarkably pleasant. The vegetarian cuisine was excellent, and the dishes were beautifully presented. I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though I'm usually a meat-eater. The value for money is more than reasonable. I have nothing but praise for this establishment and especially for the staff.

06/09/2026: We used to come regularly before. First time with the new owners. The food was very, very good. But... isn't it said that criticism helps us improve?! So, a few comments... No ice cubes for the aperitifs. We used to get a small amuse-bouche too! The wine (rosé) wasn't kept chilled even though it was very hot; we had to ask. And we also had a small petit four with the coffee! A 45-minute wait at checkout even though there weren't many people. Of course, you don't have to do the same! But these are the little things that make a difference! We'll still come back and recommend you.

22/08/2026: Review: A disappointing evening There were four of us, and unfortunately, the evening was a series of minor disappointments. It all started with the alcohol: the rosé served wasn't the one we had ordered from the menu. Then, we ordered several dishes, including quenelles. About 15 minutes later, we were informed that they were no longer available. It would have been appreciated if they had told us when we ordered. The frogs' legs were good, but unfortunately a little overcooked. And to top it all off, we were served fries… while we were still waiting for our gratin. We had to ask where it was, only to find out that it had been burnt and thrown away. At this point, it was starting to add up for a single evening. In total, the bill came to around €300 for four people, with an experience that unfortunately didn't live up to the price paid. We do, however, appreciate the gesture of goodwill: a glass of rosé, a beer, and an extra dessert were offered to us. It's appreciated, but unfortunately, it's not enough to make up for the string of problems that plagued us throughout the meal. In short: far too many disappointments for a bill of €300.

25/07/2026: My opinion will differ from the previous ones. Two problems: the wait between courses was far too long, and even though the food was generally good, the dishes were inconsistent. This was our second visit. The first time, we waited 40 minutes between the appetizer and the main course. The appetizer, and especially the dessert, were very good; the main course was good but unremarkable. We decided to try again. Today, we spent more time waiting than enjoying our meals. 45 minutes between each course. Seriously? A very good appetizer, a good main course, and a mediocre dessert. When we mentioned the wait between the appetizer and the main course, the waitress told us that the chef was working alone and that plates were cleared only when he decided to bring the next course. So, apparently, the customer is subject to the restaurant's organization, and that's considered normal. Well... Yet, after waiting 20 minutes between the main course and dessert, when our plates were finally taken away, and after a glimmer of hope that our dishes would arrive, we waited another 25 minutes... for a dessert where the panna cotta seemed nonexistent and another where the peach and goat cheese combination was missing... 45 minutes for that... in fact, the other dishes were prioritized... at the expense of ours, for a very mediocre result. What a disappointment! And all this, despite apologies and an acknowledgment of the slightly long wait, only to be told that this never happens (well, it did happen to us the first time too), that it's also part of the restaurant experience for them... well, the customer isn't there to have this kind of experience where the chef plays his part without considering the clientele, which is approved by the dining room, and all this for nearly 200 euros without even a gesture of goodwill, a complimentary coffee or tea, or a drink. It's very poor. And all this in a noisy room. But since the restaurant is packed, three dissatisfied customers who might not return are apparently not a problem. Our second visit will therefore be our last. We'd much rather try La Grande Ourse.

15/09/2026: After several visits, I can only lament the fact that the menu hasn't been updated in years. We no longer go there for this reason, even though the food is excellent. The service in the kitchen is often too slow. The front dining room is truly superb. What a shame.

13/09/2026: 4.5/5 Excellent sea bream, generous portions, it's a shame the Roquefort flavor wasn't strong enough in the mussels. Very good service but a bit of a wait as it was busy.

23/08/2026: This restaurant doesn't allow dogs. Even outside, I don't understand it??? So we went somewhere else.

22/08/2026: Very disappointed. We paid for a 33cl bottle of beer, but we were only served a 25cl glass (we didn't see the bottle). Furthermore, for the same meal, one of us paid €38.50 and the other €41.50. Already expensive for mediocre food, but this rip-off is unacceptable!

20/08/2026: We had taken the precaution of making a reservation to ensure both a table was available and we knew the service time. Unfortunately, after a 45-minute wait, we still hadn't received our menus or been able to order. So we ended up leaving. A very disappointing experience, especially since the whole point of a reservation is to be able to plan ahead and avoid this kind of wait.

11/10/2026: A very French restaurant, intimate with very few seats, hard to find without a recommendation from someone who lives/has lived in Paris. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is incredible. The pork rib with homemade mash is highly recommended. Dessert? The crème brûlée. The value for money is more than fair. A special place! Thank you!

08/10/2026: The omelette is delicious, and the mussel soup, which isn’t even on the menu, is absolutely fantastic. The owner and the server are also very friendly

16/08/2026: A great place to sit and have a crepe or a coffee. The place is very nice, the food is good, and the service is fine.

15/08/2026: This dessert shop is absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the almond cream croissants! The mini cream puffs are also amazing (6 for only 2.5 yuan).

28/09/2026: The location was cosy and the food was good. The Moroccan menu offered a good selection, but there were not many vegetarian options. It would be nice if the vegetarian tagine/couscous included chickpeas instead of just vegetables. Also, we were surprised that the tagine wasn’t served with bread or couscous. The friendly service was unfortunately slow and disorganised. Despite only three tables being occupied, we were served late and not closely attended to.

Law No. 2020-105 of February 10, 2020 (the anti-waste law) requires restaurants and bars to provide reusable or recyclable containers for customers to take home uneaten food, upon request (Juribot) (Article L541-15-7 of the Environmental Code). Some useful details: The restaurant cannot refuse, except in certain circumstances (all-you-can-eat buffets, where this obligation does not apply). (Comment Ça Marche) The container must be provided, but the law does not explicitly require this service to be free (regioneo) — in practice, most restaurants do not charge for the container. A restaurant owner can refuse to allow customers to take home certain products for hygiene reasons (for example, certain fish or delicate preparations). So if you want to get your leftover lunch back, you are perfectly within your rights to ask for it.
