10/12/2024: I was excited to go back to Balzar for the first time in many years. First course was very good. Uneven pours on the wine by the glass, but overall service seemed very good and friendly. Then everything fell apart. Three of four main courses were awful. As other reviewers have commented, the steak is extremely tough. It was unevenly cooked as well. Roast beef was also very tough. Halibut was smoked, but that detail was not on the menu. Menu on the website is not the menu in the restaurant. Prices were high for the quality of what was served. Decor is worn. The worst part was that the waiter shook me down for an additional tip. He stopped the credit card transaction and questioned me about how much extra I was going to leave him on the card. I did not want to leave an extra tip on my card but felt I had no choice as he would not complete the transaction until I gave him more money. That is inexcusable and the owner and maitre d'hotel should be ashamed to have a server strongarming tourists into leaving additional tips. Je parle français couramment. Vous devriez avoir honte. Tourists, beware! Perhaps le Balzar has lost its way and just become a tourist trap? I don't know, but I won't be back. Edit: Thanks for the AI-generated non-response, Brasserie le Balzar. You failed to address the fact that your server hijacked my credit card payment until I agreed to give him an additional tip. You should apologize directly for this, take it up with the server, and refund the additional tip I was coerced into giving. Again, I say tourists beware!

03/12/2024: Le Petit Poucet is a restaurant which seems to have a well-established regular clientele, benefiting from a particularly attentive welcome. For new customers, however, the attention span may seem more limited, which can create a sense of distance. In terms of cuisine, it's almost faultless: the dishes perhaps lack a little originality, but they are impeccably executed, with fresh, seasonal and local products, which is always a real plus. The atmosphere, for its part, could benefit from modernity, and the service, although correct, does not always reach the level of attention that one would expect in this type of establishment. An interesting place for a reliable culinary experience, but which could appeal more with a little more originality and dynamism in the welcome.

14/08/2024: Superb brasserie that I have been around for years, I recommend it, superb welcome and cuisine, I often receive my artist clients in this brasserie, the management and staff are very attentive, and very discreet, it has even become my HQ smile. Robert

02/08/2024: Been gluten-free wasn't a problem. Water was very good at making sure my meal was gf. No dietary menu as a traditional French spot which was great Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent wine, French beer and food Photo rubbish as food too good forgot to take photo! But found the old telephone down stairs, wondered if it still worked!
