05/09/2026: We just had lunch at this establishment today. It deserves to be better known and recommended. For us, it was a new discovery.
Our €42.50 meal was excellent. The goujonnette of carp was delicious, followed by the unmissable and very generous main course of perfectly grilled frog legs with parsley and garlic, and a succulent gratin dauphinois. Everything was excellent, including the famous fromage blanc with cream. Impeccable service, both courteous and efficient. 👍
26/08/2026: Fantastic! While on holiday in the area, we were recommended this restaurant which serves specialties from the Ain region. On the menu were frogs' legs, carp goujonettes, and Bresse chicken with morels. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The service was also perfect. Thank you for offering our dog a bowl of water.
I highly recommend it if you're in the area 😊

13/09/2026: A large, rustic dining room, richly decorated with the restaurant's emblem, a rooster. A large, shaded terrace with comfortable chairs. Perhaps best avoided on summer evenings due to mosquitoes. The manager's welcome was average, even cold, unlike her husband's. It's like night and day. As for the cuisine, it's traditional, generous portions overall, featuring mostly local products. Good homemade desserts, especially the Chartreuse iced soufflé.

09/10/2026: A must-stop after the market. A typically Provençal spot in the middle of the square with its fountain. Plus, you can eat dishes prepared by the market vendors right there – we love it!
08/10/2026: After ordering four glasses of white wine, the waiter told us the price per glass and the price of the bottle, without offering any other wines. He even mentioned that his colleague had opened a less expensive Chardonnay, but that he would bring us the local wine (which was more expensive), without letting us tell him we wanted the Chardonnay. Since the bottle wasn't opened in front of us, and its quality was only average, we will always have doubts about the wine we were served.

02/09/2026: A very busy place, outside particularly. Wonderful food, we had Fritto Misto to start and Moules to follow. The Moules à la Normande was truly delicious and large. I can't fault the service, definitely on French time, because of the number of diners. Very good value for money. I would certainly return. PS The menu de jour looked lovely too.
Thanks to all the staff, especially for their patience, as I was trying desperately to get back into speaking french on my first day back in France.

We had a wonderful time at Le Bœuf Noir! A huge thank you to the whole team for their warm welcome, kindness, and flexibility. There were 13 of us celebrating a birthday, and everything went perfectly. The restaurant even allowed us to bring our own decorations, which made this special occasion even more special. The service was top-notch, and the team was incredibly accommodating! We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back! 😊
