19/09/2026: Two reasonably priced set menus (€24 and €29). The owner is friendly and welcoming. The daily specials board offers interesting dishes, but the flavors are lacking: bland fish, fries served with every course (a shame for fish), homemade desserts. The chef seems uninterested.

And when the prices are almost the same as a chain like La Criée, Léon, or others... I prefer to give my money to a small business that offers fresh products. In any case, I highly recommend it.

08/09/2026: The decor was lovely, the food was good, and the service was friendly. However, there was one small drawback: the chef, presumably the owner, openly shared his opinions with friends, which we found rather unprofessional, and we left with a rather unpleasant feeling. Especially since these opinions could have been shared privately. A real lack of class.

31/08/2026: What a shame! On the recommendation of friends, we had booked a table for Sunday evening, August 30th. When we arrived at 8:30 pm, the restaurant was closed. On the phone, we were told it was due to thunderstorms: admittedly, there had been some in the afternoon, but nothing like the previous days. Driving 20 km only to find the place closed is not ideal… So, where to go?

25/07/2026: A restaurant in the heart of Saint-Étienne with a shaded terrace, a refined daily special featuring two fish and two meat dishes accompanied by fresh vegetables from the local farmers' market, a lovely dessert menu, and all at a very reasonable price. A very pleasant family meal. A sixth star for the immediate care of our four-legged companion who was with us. Impeccable service. Thank you for this lunch.

08/07/2026: I was blown away by the warm welcome from the staff at Café de L'Opera; they were truly attentive and helpful. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, perfect for an evening with family or friends. The value for money is excellent.

We stumbled upon a charmingly decorated Landes-style building, like stepping into a museum from the 1960s to 1980s. We were greeted by Geneviève, who reminded us of our grandmother. We ordered dishes from the golden age of Gilles, showcasing his unique expertise with fresh, classic ingredients, and thanks to all of this, we were transported back to our childhood. Thank you so much! We had a wonderful time, and the food was a true delight. Please stay just as you are, and congratulations on what you provide! 😍
