29/07/2026: I highly recommend it. Generous portions, a friendly atmosphere. Take your time to eat there; he runs the place himself, but he provides excellent service. We left delighted by this wonderful experience, the kind you rarely find anymore. A restaurateur who loves his work and his customers.

28/07/2026: Everything is unique: the decor, the tables, and especially the owner-chef-waiter, who is relaxed, takes the time to chat, and cracks a joke. You have to be patient when he disappears into the kitchen for some truly memorable moments. And it's delicious.

01/08/2026: A charming Parisian bistro in the style of a traditional Lyonnais bouchon, with original furnishings and decor. The welcome and service are warm, with one of the owners working in the dining room. His partner, in the kitchen, works very well with good ingredients, but lacks imagination when he adds croutons and the same herbs to most dishes. It's a shame, because the choice of ingredients is impeccable, and their cooking and preparation are of good quality. The wine list is sufficiently varied, but the 2023 Chenas "Les Carrières" doesn't live up to expectations and seems very different from a Beaujolais cru: the owners should taste it to determine if it was simply a "tired" bottle or if it should be removed from the list. We'll try other wines next time. Thank you for a pleasant experience.

17/07/2026: Traditional but well-executed cuisine, a very friendly welcome, a bistro atmosphere with classic dishes including a modern twist on egg mayonnaise—everything was truly delicious. If you have a big appetite, plan on ordering a starter, main course, and dessert. The wine selection, a Beaujolais from a local producer, perfectly complements the ambiance. A very, very good experience.

14/03/2026: A wonderful discovery! Bone marrow, leeks vinaigrette (so good and rare!), onion soup with Morbier cheese, etc. For main courses, I recommend the duck breast with morello cherries; it's truly a must-try. The vegetables were excellent, except for a wilted side salad—I didn't understand why. Otherwise, there's the steak poivre flambéed with cognac, served with a delicious gratin on a separate plate (like my wilted salad). The desserts were good, but I wouldn't recommend the floating island; the custard was thick and too sweet. The atmosphere is authentic; it's like stepping back in time. However, expect to pay around €70 per person. It's definitely worth it, but not an everyday experience.

14/03/2026: Part of Paris since the 1940s Chez Paul blends in with the local streets so seamlessly that most will walk by without notice, but since coming under ownership of the Karrenbauer family in 1998 the space at 13 Rue de Charonne has continued a proud tradition begun by Mr. and Mrs. Paul. Small but comfortable thanks to red leather banquetes, a tiled floor beneath brass ceilings and walls full of art, it is from a paper ledger that reservations are confirmed prior to seating at wood tables that require being slid aside to gain access. A locals sort of place, though the menu does offer English translations, fans of Bistro fare will find all the staples complimented by daily specials while the Wine list runs long yet quite affordable. Well-suited to families, especially on Sundays when so few Parisian Restaurants are open all day, starters come in the form of Escargot or French Onion Soup plus sizable slabs of Foie Gras and the chunky sort of housemade Terrine one rarely encounters outside of France. Far more affordable than tourist favorites, its place in the 11th undoubtedly part of the reason, main plates see Confit Duck done well without any fuss while Pepper Steak and Sweetbreads in reduced Soy are generous in terms of portion and flavor. Not a spot to skip Dessert, all but Ice Cream made on site, Chez Paul’s Baba is denser than Ducasse’s but no less delicious while the Œufs à la neige and Tarte Tatin are each classics prepared the right way.

13/07/2026: We came with colleagues for lunch. It was our first time at this restaurant. We'll gladly come back. The servers are very welcoming. The meal is great. Very good. Nothing to complain about. Just perfect.
