15/04/2026: Hearty nose-to-tail cuisine with dishes you won’t find in most French restaurants, but the service (or lack thereof) really does take away from the experience. We went to Amarante for lunch on a weekday. Amarante specialises in traditional French cuisine, with a focus on offal. For starters, we took the veal tongue and the pork trotters. Both dishes were relatively simple in presentation, but very well executed, especially the veal tongue which had a delicious mustard based condiment. For mains, we took the sweetbread and the chicken. Both meats were cooked perfectly: nicely caramelised, with succulent crispy skin for the chicken and a very juicy interior. The sweetbread was very rich and melted in the mouth, though we felt it lacked a bit of salt. However it was served with a superb potato mash which had a smooth texture but a really strong potato flavour which was delicious. For desserts, we had their dark chocolate mousse and their almond cake. Both desserts contained very little sugar which was very impressive, and had a really strong flavour of the raw ingredient (cacao and almonds). The mousse in particular was among the best we’ve had. Purely judging on the food, this would be a 4/5. It’s simple cooking, but very well executed. The service however brings this down to a 3/5. Our waiter was quite cold, and somewhat rude at times, almost taking offense when we asked for salt for the veal sweetbread. We were also never asked whether we enjoyed certain dishes, and overall this made the experience less enjoyable.

01/04/2026: do book ahead! loved the food. we went there for lunch and got the worker's lunch set. we got the veal tongue and pork rillettes as starters. veal cheak and pork chop for mains. and almond cake with pear ice cream, and lemony meringue thing (which was the only thing we didn't really like) they gave sourdough instead of baguette as the bread! the waiter was v nice and accommodating by speaking in english with us! he recommended good red wine to pair with our meal too.

10/04/2026: We've been going to this inn once or twice a year for several years now, for its quality traditional cuisine and authentic country atmosphere. That day it was packed, so it was a bit noisy, but apart from that, we had a wonderful meal. Huge trout meunière with delicious gratin dauphinois—no dessert because we were full, just enough energy to walk to the edge of Lake Settons, get the deck chairs out of the trunk, and enjoy a lovely nap in the shade of the oak trees. A must-try.

21/04/2026: Great atmosphere, but the foie gras was a shame—too fatty and not very generous for the price of €17, which is a bit expensive. The salad (too few leaves and other bits) and the ribs were perfect. As for the fries, the portion size should be reduced. Otherwise, the band was great and the staff were pleasant.

24/02/2026: Excellent discovery! This restaurant was a great find. A warm welcome and very good home-style cooking at very reasonable prices. Don't hesitate!

18/02/2026: I finally tried the little restaurant that had been recommended to me, and I was delighted that they agreed to serve me at 1:30 pm, despite it being full. The set menu was €22, and it was delicious from start to finish. The owners came to greet me upon arrival, which was a lovely touch. It's a great place that I recommend for a friendly meal if you're in the area. I'd gladly go back. The only downside is that it can be a bit noisy when the restaurant is full.

13/03/2026: The wait is very long. Some of the hot drinks arrive cold, even when it's not busy. The cups and cutlery aren't washed properly.

10/03/2026: The bar was pleasant, with a selection of dishes to share, however, it was so crowded that seating for three was difficult. We were initially seated in the middle of a walkway, disturbing other customers for a good part of our drinks, and then moved to a very cramped spot where we were no longer bothering the other customers, but all the servers.

09/04/2026: Excellent! Restaurateurs who take pleasure in explaining the origin of their products and the blending of flavors.

05/04/2026: There are chefs who achieve extraordinary feats. Baptiste is one of them. He made me love vegetables. In his dishes, you can taste the work that goes into using truly fresh ingredients. It's a real culinary delight. The quality-to-price ratio is simply exceptional. I know very few restaurants this affordable with such high-quality food. What more can I say? It's a must-visit for anyone passing through Vannes or the surrounding area.

27/04/2026: A very pleasant family evening. The setting is magnificent, both the terrace and the interior. We were able to enjoy a table near the very well-equipped children's area with toys (Lego, animals and figurines, cars, books, board games). Our 8-year-old son was delighted. The food was excellent. Special mention goes to the crayfish and scallop crème brûlée and the foie gras panna cotta, which we had as starters, as well as the cooking and sauce of the duck. The sea bass fillet was also perfectly cooked and very flavorful. We greatly appreciated that the children's menu included a proper piece of meat in an appropriate portion, and not an overcooked hamburger or nuggets. Our son thoroughly enjoyed a rare steak and fries, exactly to his taste as a little gourmet. The cheese board we had at the end of the meal was delicious. Thank you for your warm welcome. We will be back!

Everything was perfect, from the welcome to the exquisite and magnificent cuisine. A feast for the eyes and a real treat. A truly great time! We highly recommend it!

05/03/2026: A must-try restaurant in Voiron! I recommend it 1000%. I thoroughly enjoyed everything from the appetizer to the dessert... not a single flaw. The seasoning was PERFECT! The service was impeccable and very pleasant. Don't hesitate for a second if you want to eat delicious food. A big thank you for the warm welcome, I will definitely be back.

28/02/2026: Excellent little restaurant, very welcoming with authentic cuisine, and above all, everything is homemade. Traditional French cuisine, beautifully presented and very tasty. Impeccable service and, to top it off, a very reasonable bill. For 4 people, aperitif, starter, main course, dessert, wine, coffee: €200. I regretted celebrating my birthday at the Taverne des Bro's in Voreppe, where the service was disastrous, the bill exorbitant, and, to top it all off, they asked us to vacate the table after an hour and a half because they had another reservation. In short, choose this type of restaurant for an excellent evening with family or friends.
